Simple, Don't sit and talk with them. It will be a waste of time. They use "circular reasoning".
I second that motion.
i know i just made one post, but i have another.. after the conversation with my bf tonight, i finally gave in and said i would sit down with a jw.
i don't beleive the bs for one moment.
i don't see the point in doing this, but if it will make my bf happy i'm willing to do it.

i know the jws try but imho they miss the mark because they do not all partake, as described in the bible, and they do not do the foot washing as commanded in those verses as well.
i am hard pressed to find a religion that actually does "do this in remembrance of me" as explained in the bible accounts by jesus.
does anyone know if there is a religion that tries to re-enact the event as it is described in the bible?
Attend a Catholic mass on Thursday, usually around 7pm, and you'll see most of those things, in fact, I think almost all of them.

i?ve been researching the references to a great crowd at revelation 7 and 19. it seems to me that there is little doubt that the vision places them in heaven.
naos, enopion, and the reference to heaven in chapter 19 seem pretty conclusive as to their heavenly position to me.
my problem is that, when i read revelation 21:1-4 it seems to me that this is speaking about the same group as the 'a great crowd' at chapter 7 and 19. at 7:15 it says god will spread his tent over this group.
Naos, enopion, and the reference to heaven in chapter 19 seem pretty conclusive as to their heavenly position to me.
In the Greek religion, I believe that the naos was the inner part of the temple where the statue was and where only the priests entered.
Perhaps when God does come to renew the heavens and earth, the distinction between heaven and earth won't exist.
.
well, i kinda thought being an expat that i could live under the radar but no.. today it is official - me living in the us of a.. not a ceremony, no flag waving... jury duty!.

Sounds fun!
i was reading through the terrisfight.org site and ran across the section "how you can help".

Medicare (taxpayer money) and her husband's supplemental money $80,000 a year have supported keeping her alive for 15 years and she still hasn't spoken 1 word. Her cognitive brain function hasn't worked.
Her husband doesn't pay anything and all the money that he won from a court case hasn't gone to possible rehabilitative therapy. I once knew a kid who was born almost like a "vegetable" and for years he stayed in a wheelchair and wasn't able to talk or eat very well. But then he started getting cognitive therapy and eventually he was able to walk and talk, a totally different person. While this may not be possible in Schiavo's case, no one has even tried.
Plus, her husband was offered $1,000,000 for her care by a businessman in Florida if he didn't pull the plug. But he did.
oooh baby!
pagan?
holidays and hip hop music all in one.... what more could an apostate?
That's pretty funny.
Y'know, only in English does the name Easter have pagan connotations. In others its called the Pasch, like in latin tempore paschalis.
jw parents will do just about anything to get their kids to be baptized as jws.
do they do this with the full knowledge that they will have to shun their children if they leave the organization?
is this a tactic that parents use to trap their children in the cult, basically using baptism as an form of insurance or guarantee that their kids will stay in the cult?.
My parents didn't really. And most of the elder's kids didn't get baptised until later, but this was only in my cong. In all the other ones they really 'encourage' people to get baptised extremely young.
had other things to deal with.. .
i was just wonder ing whose going to the memorial this year.. i got this email from my uncle today and i've decided i'm going only so my kids can see their family.
if you love jehovah miss your extended family want your children to have everlasting life its not hypocritical.
I'm not going, and the hounds of hell couldn't drag me there either.
Oh!, you mean the elders, don't you?

I would never to go another Memorial again.
I would be going to the Maundy Thursday mass, but I've got a lecture that I can't miss, so I'll go to Good Friday and Easter Vigil services.
