Reading all these things...I'm quite glad I was never "good enough" to be put through all that nonsense.

Pioneer School Notes -- What a robot I was!
by AlmostAtheist insomebody mentioned the "secret" pioneer school book the other day, prompting me to go find mine.
i started flipping through it, reading over my notes.
-- i don't know, that's a good question.

Shunned again, and you won't guess where. EVER.
by kwintestal inwell, we were going about our business today as we usually do on a monday.
mrs kwin went to work, kids went to school, i stayed home and made apple sauce and beer.
2:30 comes along and it's time to pick up everyone and, oh yeah ... we have that appointment today.

I would like to suggest a different course than firing. I would suggest that kwin recommend that she have mandatory counseling.
Firing will only make her feel persecuted for righteousness sake.

Oh, I really like this idea. If this was posible to have this done...maybe it could open her eyes up as well.

My new quote that I'm adopting....
If life throws you lemons....get tequila and salt.
Seriously, sometimes life sucks. That's life. But if life was all smooth with no challenges, then wouldn't life be dull?

WOW!!! I couldn't believe my eyes when I was reading this.
What a shame. I do think that you should let her boss in on it. Maybe the JW will get scolded, lose her job or whatever and that might be what opens HER mind up. You never know.
Again....WOW!!!

CHEATING ON FIELD SERVICE
by chuckyy intowards the end of my time as a jw, i must confess to cheating whilst out on field service.. 1. i would turn up at the field service arrangement with my wife, and we would say that we were working together that day to do return visits.
as everyone went out, we would simply get into our car and drive home.
(hypocritical i know).

When you go to pioneer school, does't the teacher "give" you 10 hours so you won't get behind? That's what I heard. I've never been "good enough" to have gone to pioneer school, so I don't know.
And yes, I beefed up my slip many times. Until the last few years when I was getting real sick of it all. Then I just quit turning in slips all together. I have to admit, I did like those Tim Horton Days when I HAD to go.

Incredible logic of an unfiltered child (or "I'm so proud of my boy!")
by AlmostAtheist ingina and i were reading over jwd when zach (my 7-yr-old) came in and asked what we were doing.
i explained that i was reading about how a man came to be a jw, and how he managed to get out.
(auldsoul, good story so far!

I think it's amazing that as young as he is, he can use logic. He can think for himself already.

Anybody just plain get fed up and DA?
by toby888 ini'm sick and tired and i just can't take it anymore.
i think i can "be all i can be" by joining the world and thinking about da pretty soon.
slow fade may not really work for me.

FreedomFrog
To be honest with you, I didn't do anything. I didn't DA and I'm not DF'd. But I don't care about that anymore. I worried and started out on the fading side, but I'll openly get holiday decorations. I've put up halloween decorations outside in plain view. And we have a JW family that lives 5 houses down, another about 15 houses down and a MS behind our house. If I get DF'd, screw it. It's not like my family associates with me anyway. My parents don't call anymore, my (said to be) "best" friend already told me to never call her again, and my aunt, uncle and cousins already shun me. So, I've moved on. And it's been quite nice actually.

How do you defend your god's inaction?
by AlmostAtheist inthis is a question for those that believe in a god or gods, particularly those described as "all knowing" or "almighty".. how do you defend to yourself that your god has not in any modern situation saved his people from anything?.
people of all faiths are regularly killed by various natural elements.
of course, if you knew such a thing was going to befall a person and you could do something to protect them, you would.

My take on the "inaction" is...
Maybe God started it and then evolution took over. Like as if I created something to see what would happen. Do I think God cares? I feel that He/She/It cares to the extent of the way humans would care for a natural pond that they’ve created. You design it and then let “nature” take over. You love the pond in general but not individual parts of it. That would explain why the Gods/Goddesses don’t step in.
Why does some peoples “prayers” get answered while others don’t? I feel that if one of my fish was jumping out catching bugs…making themselves known that they are hungry, I’d feed them. So when prayers/rituals and so forth happen, the one with the loudest or more heartfelt will become more noticeable to the Gods. The rest is by chance.
I feel that God/Goddess (or whatever started this) takes care of the "pond" or earth as a whole. But not as pieces to it. So a fish or multiple fish could die because of some random chance. But on whole steps in to make sure that the pond (world) isn't totally destroyed.
This is what I currently believe in but no means is written in stone. I'm very much a skeptic and lots can change.
