Englishman, and all,
As Bush said, Britain has proven itself our truest friend. They literally ARE our bridge to Europe. It's more than that, it's like having an older brother on this playground called earth where bullies can dart out from behind the bushes at any moment.
True, like brothers, we may have had our tussles (that little revolution thing), but in the end there's a deep respect and abiding familial loyalty.
So, YES! and wholeheartedly, we appreciate and acknowledge your support from the "isle of the mighty". I for one, will NEVER forget it as long as I live, and neither will my children. And little brother America may be younger, but we're bigger, and if anyone blackens Britain's eye on this playground, we will be there, post HASTE!! When this first started, and we were unsure of who, what, when, where my husband told me, if no one else stands up with us, Britain will!
Cheers to you and your countrymen!

British People Ask: Does America Know.....
by Englishman inbeing a sociable sort of animal i enjoy the cut and thrust of lively pub banter in the mid-evening.
however, there are only about 3 or 4 of us who take part in on-line discussion forums such as this.. time and again, because it is known that i take part in this forum, i am asked the same sort of question: .
"do americans in general realise that the uk is totally 100% behind them in this present crisis, not just the politicians, but the grass roots of the country, do they know that we feel outraged at the wtc attack, as outraged as if it had been on london?".

Bobs girl,
Yea, I'm hopelessly heterosexual myself. Anyway, I catch those "waves" now and then, also. It happened a lot when I was a child, which was not received well in my JW home. I'm learning to hone them again, however.Tina,
I believe there is a logical, scientific explanation for everything.Peace,

Cindy,
As I stated in an earlier post, I am a regular user of the Tarot. I have never met or felt or had any contact with anything "otherworldly". Don't worry, I'm not trying to dissuade you from your beliefs, or get you to try Tarot. But I'm just giving the perspective from one who has used them, extensively. It's all your belief system. If you believe you are going to see demons with a pack of Tarot, then your mind will manifest that. The human mind is powerful beyond our current comprehension. I also use many other mediums to access my higher conscieousness. Never any demons. In fact, according to Paul of the bible, the fruits of the spirit are love (got it), joy (everyday I wake up alive!), peace (definitely--inward adn outward--no depression the whole time I've been out of "god's org"), long-suffering (i'm a mother, so I'm very patient), goodness, kindness, mildness (got 'em, if I do say so myself), self control (meditation has taught me more self control, not just of my body, but my mind and spirit, than I ever had as JW). So, I don't think by your biblical belief system, it could be said that I could be bothered by demons while displaying the fruits of the spirit. Of course, that's not my beleif system. I just love to love, and have joy because I'm happy now, etc. But maybe this helps expound.
Peace,

Bobsgirl,
You wrote: "the key here is that they were MY answers to MY questions."
You are very very wise.Budda,
I, like you, have grown very weary of rehashing Jesus, having read and re-read the bible, esp. his teachings over and over again. And you're right, the Christianity we see today is VERY Pauline. I will be the first to admit that Jesus' teachings gave me a lot, but I've since moved on. When I reflect on my spiritual journey, I am often reminded of that scripture that talks about the difference between milk and solid food.
Anyway, I am now reading the B'hagvad Gita. And my favorite insights come from reading sayings from your name sake (Buddha). Occasionally, I reconsult the bible. In fact I just bought one that has four translations for every verse. HUGE. All of the masters seem to be leading us to one thing--love of one another. imo.

"just remeber, the jws are the largest peace movement in the world!".

No idea, that's along the lines of what I was thinking: they cry "peace, peace, when there is no peace" not in their peoples' hearts, nor their households, nor in the way they deal with those who question. Rampant depression, neuroses, eating disorders abound within the confines and indicate that internal peace (which is NECESSARY) for external peace is just not there.
Rome was able to ENFORCE peace among it's conquered people for many many years, but at what cost? Just because you can subjugate a people with fear into telling you what you want to hear, and making them act a certain way, does not mean you've accomplished peace.
As for the original question: Mr. Elder, just because a people sit back and do nothing, does not maek them a MOVEMENT. In fact, quite the opposite. Go do a little research and find out what REAL peace MOVEMENTS are DOING. Get it? Movement, implies action--and that DOES NOT INCLUDE selling silly magazines, that when it's all said and done, herald the death of 6 BILLION people. See pics from literature depicting Armageddon with jubilant JW survivors. See posts from WOL and reports from those still in, to find how this rhetoric makes people feel about human life. That's not a peace movement. They do a LOT to foment hate--it's pretty harmless, because they're waiting for god to do it, but boy, when he DOES, will they be happy! That's not a peaceful people. There's so much impotent rage and hate that many, just need the word and they would take god's work of killing up themselves. I don't think that will actually happen, because in the end, they are a corporation, a business, the AMWAY of religions, interested only in staying fiscally afloat. Killing people would be bad for business.
I used to have a lot of respect for the JW's if, for nothing else, their "stand" to Nazi's in WWII. Then they had to come clean about their antisemitic comments to the Nazi's in order to be able to play both sides. I read it in an Awake--boy was it an awakening. It had, of course been "cleaned up". But the thoughts were there, adn prompted me to do more research. -

My husband and I have our American Flag flying outside of our house. We did this because we WANT to. For those who don't wish to, I respect that, too. These are the precepts that our country was built on. The ability to question the powers that be. The freedom to fly the flag or not. But conversely, neighbors and those around you have the right to disagree with you. I just don't want to see innocent little JW children get hurt in all this. THEY bear the brunt. Their parents can dodge the issue somewhat. THESE kids can't--they're faced with it every day in school when the pledge is said. JW parents ought to give their children the unburdened choice of whether or not they wish to salute the flag. I remember being a tiny little girl, only witness in a small-town texas school, sitting through the pledge. I was so f*ing scared. I was caught between Jehovah's "loving" wrath, and a room full of rednecks. Having been taught what Jehovah does to disloyal little girls, I found the rednecks slightly less scary. I was no more a faithful jw than anything--I was a child, and should not have been called upon to make such a decision. I WAS 6 years old and scared out of my mind!!!
Oh, where was I? So, if you want to fly the flag, which I do proudly, then do. If you don't, then don't.
I love living in this country. I love the freedom to believe whatever I choose and practice that belief as I wish. I love voting--getting to CHOSE who leads me my community. I love getting to speak my mind. I love being able to have my opinion and voice it. I just LOVE this country! It's everything the organization was not. I'm like an immigrant after leaving the ORG. I appreciate what I have. I don't need to fly my flag to show it. I fly my flag, because I want to. AND because I celebrate the fact that I live in a country where I don't HAVE to.

I just had an intersting thought. What if, every once in a while, those of us, who are not TAGGED in the particular area we live in, go to a meeting now and then and record what they're saying at the moment?
Just a thought.....

And THAT, my friends, is why we're here. NOT to bring down the organization/corporation known as the WTBTS (who's got the time or resources for that?). But to be here when those who've been crushed, bruised, downhearted; feeling they're the only ones in the world stumble out. I'm sure, as Tallyman said on a post earlier, the WTBTS would like nothing better than for all those who've left to slink out quietly with their bookbags, tail between legs. That will NEVER happen. As long as you, Watchtower Bible and Tract Society, continue to hurt the lowly while claiming to be GOD'S ONLY SPOKESPERSON ON EARTH; THE ONLY CHANNEL BY WHICH TO GET TO GOD, ADN THEREFORE, SALVATION, be prepared. People will watch you, we will quote you, we will go over all of your sayings, and the sayings of your adherants on your behalf with a fine tooth comb--we will question you, and call you on it when you're wrong. And finally, we will welcome those you drive out with your unloving ways, or out right lies. BTW, I learned that from the WTBTS and the way they taught me to view Christendom. Same applies.
Randy, please give this woman my regards and support, if you are able. BTW, yours was the first I ever happened upon. I was amazed that there were others like me.
Keep up the good work,
Bridgette
