The following is a parable about the "JW Prodigal Son"
The young JW said to one of the elders, "Elder, I have doubts about the Governing Body." So the elder convened a judicial committee and they disfellowshipped him.
Not long after that, the younger JW was not allowed to talk to his JW family anymore and had to move out of their home. The job he had with another JW was soon terminated and he was left on his own. Since he had no skills—his religion wouldn't allow him any higher education—and he had no friends—his religion didn't allow him to associate with anyone who wasn't a JW—he began to think back on what he had before. Although he did not really believe in the religion, he decided he would return so at least he could once again associate with people, have employment, and feel as though he was not abandoned.
When he confessed the error of his ways, the young JW said to the elder, "Elder, I have sinned against the Watchtower and against the governing body. I am no longer worthy to be called a JW," only then was he allowed to return to the meetings in the hope of rejoining his family and former so-called friends. He could not talk to anyone except for the spiritually strong elders and his father who now began to study with him even though he had heard the same stuff hundreds of times before. He played the game and one day was reinstated to the joy of everyone who could now talk to him and tell him them missed him even though he was there all the time.
The other young JW's who had continued with their monotonous routine of Watchtower worship while he was gone looked scornfully at the returnee because he had not had to do all of the service they did. They kept their distance from him as they viewed him as still contaminated and would never fully be one of them again.
The young JW slowly worked his way back to earning his privileges. His going through the motions of being in the "truth" was enough to satisfy his family and the elders.
Now he frequents Internet sites to find support for his situation because he knows the Watchtower is a lie but he still wants to associate with his family.

Quick update on sharing TTATT with my friend
by Gojira_101 inyesterday morning i got a message from my friend, the one i shared ttatt with last week and she wanted to meet for coffee.
this is the story/friend i'm referring to http://www.jehovahs-witness.net/jw/friends/251494/1/ha-take-that-watchtower-one-less-borg-for-you.. i was really nervous because since our initial visit she had told me that two of her other jw friends wanted to talk to me.
after a little more prodding she admitted that her friends didn't accept what their own wt said about god's name and they wanted to talk to me to "bring me back to the truth.".

w56 10/1 p.591 par.20 Marriage Obligations and Divorce***
Sodomy (or the unnatural intercourse of one male with another male as with a female), Lesbianism (or the homosexual relations between women), and bestiality (or the unnatural sexual relations by man or woman with an animal) are not Scriptural grounds for divorce. They are filthy, they are unclean, and God’s law to Israel condemned to death those committing such misdeeds, thus drastically putting these out of God’s congregation. But such acts are not adultery with the opposite sex, making the unclean person one flesh with another of the opposite sex. (Rom. 1:26-32) Yet there is a penalty of disfellowshiping attached to them. They will keep a Christian out of the heavenly kingdom and out of God’s new world, and that means being destroyed like beasts from all future life. "The minding of the flesh means death," it "means enmity with God, for it is not under subjection to the law of God, nor, in fact, can it be. So those who are in harmony with the flesh cannot please God." They cannot gain the prize of everlasting life from him. (Rom. 8:6-8; 1 Cor. 6:9, 10; Gal. 5:19-21) Such filthy things by a mate may make life unbearable for the clean married person and are grounds for separation only, though some courts grant a divorce on such grounds. Such separation does not free one to remarry and enter thus into adultery. Writes Paul: "To the married people I give instructions, yet not I but the Lord, that a wife should not depart from her husband; but if she should actually depart, let her remain single or else make up again with her husband; and a husband should not leave his wife." (1 Cor. 7:10, 11, NW) Only if one of the separated couple committed adultery under the stress of the separation would there be Scriptural basis for the innocent to procure a divorce and be free to remarry.

Angels and Jehovah's Witnesses
by Cold Steel inwhat would happen if a jehovah's witness claimed to see an angel or have an angelic experience?
what would the reaction of the church be if one of the governing body claimed to have seen an angel or have an angelic experience?
by "angelic experience" i mean being shown future events by an angelic presence.

Back in the early 1990's during a servant Body meeting the PO said that an angel
probably would visit the GB right before the Great Tribulation and give them instructions.
We all 'Oooohed' and 'Aaaahed' when he said that. During the same meeting he said that this system would
not survive until the year 2000.
My Bullshit Meter's batteries were dead or I would have accurately recognized his comments for what they were.

A Couple of thoughts on July WT
by Phizzy ini actually got a bucket close by and read some of the study ed.
july 13 w.t my first reaction was amazement at how very muddled the whole thing was, i think if i had all those months to write articles since the noo lite was presented at the agm i could make a much better job of arguing the new ideas, and our very own sd7 could do even better !.
for instance, it is claimed in the chart, and the 2nd article i think, that the harvest began in 1914, by whom ?.

MUST READ: Books for Young JWs - a Required Reading List
by Oubliette ini've been contemplating a list of works of fiction that should be read by every young jehovah's witness, (12 - 18 years old).
the goal is to plant seeds of truth and critical thinking skills which could ultimately invoking cognitive dissonance and help them wake up to the truth about "the truth" (ttatt).
my idea is an adaptation of steven hassan's approach of not attacking a cult members beliefs directly, but rather indirectly by getting them to look at other similar belief systems and social structures, in this case fictional ones that mirror many of the destructive, oppressive features of jehovah's witnesses.

If you are studying with a Jehovah's Witness there is a
very valid reason why you should refrain from having anything to
do with the Watchtower Society.
The longer you keep your distance from Jehovah's Witnesses, the
fewer false teachings you will need to unlearn should you ever
decide to become baptised as a JW.
Jehovah's Witnesses are forward looking people and are
beside themselves when they receive the latest Watchtower magazine.
To a Jehovah's Witness, it is as fresh as a new roll of toilet
paper.
True Jehovah's Witnesses feel the same way about the latest
Watchtower magazine as these true JW's did:
"Experiencing Jehovah’s Love'
Not all the persons I have known in the organization have maintained their appreciation for the truth. To illustrate this, I want to mention an experience I had while in the pilgrim service. I was in Philadelphia at the time, and, after I had given a talk, an elective elder who claimed to be a brother came up to me and said:“Brother Riemer, I got my Watchtower this morning. The only reason I read that Watchtower is to find out what you fellows in Brooklyn are trying to put over on us.” That was the spirit of some of the elective elders. They were causing splits in the congregations and in the work.
In contrast to the attitude of these elective elders was that of an elderly couple with whom I stayed on the outskirts of Richmond, Virginia. The brother went down to get the mail before breakfast, and when we had breakfast he said,“Brother Riemer, I got a new Watchtower this morning, and do you know the first thing that Ma and I do when we get that Tower? We kneel down before we take the wrapper off and ask Jehovah to make us worthy to see what the message is that Jehovah has for us. Now, before we take the wrapper off, will you kneel down and pray with us?” How different that elective elder was from this humble couple who appreciated Jehovah’s organization!
September 15, 1964 Watchtower
Page 574
Several weeks or months later that JW couple had to unlearn the message from Jehovah that was in that Watchtower because it was replaced with new light.
If you are studying with the Jehovah's Witnesses, what you are learning today will soon have to be unlearned because, just as the message from Jehovah in that couple's new Watchtower magazine was as fresh as a new roll of toilet paper it soon became soiled and had to be replaced with a new Watchtower magazine.
The Watchtower magazine you read today does not contain permanent messages, it is just a scratch pad used for temporary storage of preliminary information that all Jehovah's Witnesses will have to unlearn. -

Your children will think everything is alright with the religion if you go back.
If you stay away they may investigate the religion on their own.
Children have great BS meters.
That is why JW's have the lowest retention rate of born-ins than any other denomination.
