Ask her if you can have the rooster. Then pay the next-door neighbor of the Elder of your choice to keep him for a few weeks.

National Average = Quotas
by zack inthe national average for publishers reporting feild service time in the untited states is just under 10 hours a month.
this has become the de facto standard for every member of the congregation.
if one fails to produce at the rate of others, he is "weak", his service is "divided", he puts the things of "this life" in "first place.".

There is a simple solution to this: just fill in whatever # of hours you want, like I did...and so did many others...I caught a few bros and sistas claiming they went in field service alone on nights I saw them elsewhere.

My mom also wouldn't make devil's food cake (made it w/o the red food coloring and demanded we call it "chocolate cake") or deviled eggs (demanded we call them spiced eggs....unbelieving dad refused, so she refused to make them for him any more), couldn't buy any holiday candy or pastries until after the holiday had past (apparently the paganness wore off after the holiday).....etc., etc., the superstitions go on and on....

If Watchtower rules were applied to worldly people..
by JH in.
if watchtower rules were applied to worldly people, you could shun worldly people for silly reasons such as...buying a 2 door car .
give other examples: .

What's the matter with windchimes?
Dontcha know, they are paaagan....the noise is supposed to keep demons away. I never understood why that wouldn't be a good thing....I guess because it's a superstition and you need to read the waaaatchtower constantly in order to keep the minions away...hanging up windchimes is too easy.

Youth Policy Of The WT.
by Englishman ini wonder why brooklyn doesn't lighten up on it's treatment of it's young folk.
it's almost inevitable that the majority of young folk are going to walk away from the jw's as they get older.. after all, who wants to be told whether they can dance or not, whether or not they can have a boyfriend / girlfriend, whether they should pursue an education or not?.
growing up always involves a degree of rebellion against the status quo.

I wonder why Brooklyn doesn't lighten up on it's treatment of it's young folk.
I don't know why they don't, but I hope they never do. I hope they continue to be more and more restrictive and crazy, so more and more people will escape.

How can I find out what my standing in the Org is?
by lv4fer inthere was never an announcement made.
i wrote them a letter not a da letter, but essentially i told them that me and my family simply wanted to "cease to be involved with the faith" at the time on their web site it said that you would not be shunned if you simply ceased to be involved with the faith.
i also said if they made an announcement that i would sue them for slander.

I don't see any way to find out for sure. The only things you can do involve asking for records or info from current members/elders, and there's no way in H-e-double-toothpicks you can count on them telling you the truth. I mean, they lied to you about so many other things all that time, how can you possibly believe anything they tell you now? You can't.

Saving my Neice and Nefew!
by Rig Pig ini have never used one of these sites before but i am very scared and need help.
i will tell you my story from the beginning.... three years ago my 29 year old brother was killed in a farming accident.
he left behind his wife of 9 years, a 7 year old son, a 4 year old daughter, three sisters and my parents.

Rigpig, Sorry for the loss of your brother.
1) Yes, probably.
2) Unlikely, but you could gently try. If you are too vehement about it, you will most likely push her away forever. Here are some points on my web site you might ask her about. The purpose of your questions is to stimulate her thought. Just gently ask, don't push. (www.jwinfo.50megs.com)
(FYI before you read this....this organization has claimed for over a century that it has been direclty led by God Himself, who is infallible. Therefore, there should be no "mistakes", right?)
...although patriotism or any non-neutral activities or beliefs have been condemned, it appears the Watchtower Society leadership itself has acted in breach of that rule on some occasions:
- Support for the war effort appears to have been embraced in 1918 by the Watchtower Society, who praised the United States? set of laws and suggested a specific day be set aside to pray for a favorable outcome to World War I.?WATCHTOWER, 6/1/1918, pg. 174
- The Watchtower Society joined the United Nations as a Non-Governmental Organization in 1992. According to United Nations documents, the Watchtower Society filed applications for membership that required pledging support of UN principles and agreement to disseminate information publicly in support of the UN. The WTS membership status came to public knowledge via a newspaper article in 2001. The newspaper alleges that the WTS then made a hasty withdrawal of the UN, in response to public outcry. The WTS apparently claimed they were inadvertently listed as a UN member after applying for a library card, a claim which the UN states is untrue.
- In 2002, it appears the Watchtower Society owned a significant percentage of stock in Rand Corporation, a manufacturer of military equipment, according to the Securities and Exchange Commission web site.
3) Because they are a high control group (cult). Members either deny and/or do not realize this about the organization. Visit http://www.factnet.org/

heatherg, Do these items in or on the mailboxes have postage? Here is something I wrote up...posting it here for general interest to anyone....I'm highlighting the part about mail:
How to Reduce Contact from Jehovah?s Witnesses (United States)
Neighborhood Preaching: Post a ?No Trespassing? sign at your home. Click here to view a letter from the church leaders instructing JWs (whom they call "publishers") not to visit homes with No Tresspassing signs on them: http://www.dannyhaszard.com/notrespassing.htm
Telephone preaching:
Option 1: Get caller ID and don?t answer unwanted calls.
Option 2: Contact your phone co. to find out if they offer a service for you to block calls from certain telephone numbers.
Option 3: If you do accidentally talk to them, tell them they are to cease calling you immediately. If they continue calling, file a complaint with the police and phone co. complaint bureau. Normally, you must feel annoyed, alarmed, or harassed in order for action to be taken. (I personally would feel all of those if somebody calls me with a message that I?ll be killed by God soon, even if it was stated subtly.)Putting stuff in or on your mailbox with no postage: It is a federal offense. Law: http://pe.usps.gov/text/dmm/d041.htm#Rbi31049 File a complaint with the US Postmaster. How to complain: http://www.usps.com/ncsc/locators/find-is.html Enter your zip code first.
Putting stuff in or on your mailbox with postage:
Option 1: Don?t open it?mark it ?return to sender, refused?, cross out your address, circle the return address, and put it back in the mail. If unwanted mail persists, write a letter to the congregation, by certified mail with return receipt, indicating no further mail should be sent.
Option 2: File a complaint with the US postal office. See here for details: http://www.junkbusters.com/dmlaws.html Be sure to scroll down and read the links to the Supreme Court?s decision that the individual receiving the mail is allowed to determine whether or not the content is offensive. Another option is to file a complaint here: http://www.usps.com/postalinspectors/fraud/MailFraudComplaint.htm Use the ?unwanted mail? category.Emails:
Option 1: Use your blocking capabilities.
Option 2: On mine, I can send an automated message to particular email addresses if they send me anything. You could put a message indicating you wish their contact to cease to be automatically sent back to them. -
