The New World Translation and Honesty

after having researched my beliefs of 45+ years, finding so much was really different than what the bible context really taught, i decided to "read" the bible for for the first time to see what it really was saying, taking off the "blinders" of the wt.

i began reading the greek scriptures first.

i used the new world translation, knowing if we were to ever reach our grown children, i would need to use that translation to prove anything.

BTW, aren't the terms "Hebrew Scriptures" and "Greek Scriptures" made up by the dubs in the 1st place?

Does anyone ever wonder why the dubs go by the books of the bible selected by the catholic church at the council of trent, instead of going out and selecting their own?

i'm still technically an unbaptised publisher... i'm glad i came to my recent revelations before baptism.

anyway, basically i was stumbled by recent events in our hall... a respected pioneer sister tried to seduce my sister-in-law's husband.

and when that didn't work she went after another friend's husband.

Sounds like a lie to me. I don?t see anything in the Elder?s handbook that says DFing cannot take place?or maybe the procedure is supposed to be to consider her as DAd because she refused to comply with the directive to meet w/the Elders?

I'd like to let them know what my issues are and simply stop going to meetings. This however would have an adverse effect on my wife

That is a valid concern. You would need to weigh your desire to speak your mind (to people who won?t listen anyway) vs. your wife?s feelings. My vote would be to stop attending meetings and just say you are no longer interested in studying. They will try to extract a reason from you. Don?t give one; just say, ?I don?t care to discuss this topic with you any longer. Thank you for your time, and best wishes to you.? Repeat as necessary.

I don?t know the song, but I do know there are many other roads that lead to neither of those things. There are many roads to happiness.

Is it even possible for ex-JWs to go to a regular church after all the Bible 'training' we've had?

My advice: Take a break from religion right now. Sort through all the issues caused by your JW study. Research when you?re ready. You can worship God on your own if you want to. If and when you want to pursue a different religion, you will be better able to take it in moderation. Normal religions are not destructive. It should be an uplifting experience for you, but not one that is depressing, demanding, and controlling?.nor should it consume your entire life from dawn to dusk.

today, whilst shopping, i ran into an old school friend of mine that i had been quite close to.

i used to write her 'sick' notes for her, so as you can imagine, we're friends forever now.. anyway, she tells me that she is studying with jehovah's witnesses again.

i think she expected me to be thrilled with this news.

having studied much in my youth, and being the submarine witness that i was, i married at 19 and began my "worldly coarse".

i just knew it was the "truth".

Think of it this way: How many times did you pray earnestly for something and your prayer was not answered? I'll bet a lot more of your prayers were not answered than those that were. That, IMO, indicates answering of prayers is a coincidence or maybe a very isolated random response from a diety that can't and/or does not answer all prayers.

Another question: If the diety who answered your prayer is all-good, then how in the world could he/she send a destructive high control cult when you asked for good people to come?

Is it out of your head yet?

john paul ii has been given the holy viaticum (last sacrements).

he has a high fever, a urinary tract infection, and has difficulty breathing and swallowing.. he is concious and alert and has decided not to return to hospital.

although the health care at the vatican is excellent this is seen by commentators as an indication the pope is preparing to die, and wishes to do so at home.. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/europe/4399189.stm.

At 1 st glance, you will see that the literature is speaking against violence toward DFd people. However, ask yourself why they are even mentioning this in the first place. Conclusion: They?re mentioning this to suggest that people who are DFd deserve to be put to death; only laws and rules restrain JWs from doing so.

Being limited by the laws of the worldly nation in which we live and also by the laws of God through Jesus Christ, we can take action against apostates only to a certain extent, that is, consistent with both sets of laws. The law of the land and God's law through Christ forbid us to kill apostates, even though they be members of our own flesh-and-blood family relationship.

I especially like the quote, "being limited by the laws"....as if the only thing holding them back from killing "apostates" is laws....as if they are all going around with this murderous desire but restrain themselves only because of laws.
