When I was a kid I used to have this terrible dream that re-occured in exact detail a handful of time over a few years. It was of a faceless man bashing and seriously injuring my sister while I stood next to him and watched while not being able to move. The dream was set in a really isolated part of our yard where no-one could see. I could see the mans body and everything else but not the face. Wasn't until years later that I let myself acknowledge that the man was my father, and that my apparent paralysis was metaphoric of my fear and powerlessness, and that the isolated secret factor was that the situation had gone on for years behind closed doors, while nobody either knew or wanted to help us. Hey there all, I remember years ago when I was wee small that there were some "apostates" loitering outside the KH attempting to hand out literature. I was so young then that I can barely remember the details, but oh what a talked about scandal that was! I can only imagine that it was probably covered in great detail at the next "local needs talk" lol! Gosh those defectors are brave, to feel so passionately about such a cause as to face your greatest fears. The thing is that even though there's little chance they would have ever been directly effective, their very presence would have been a thorn in the side for many. And clearly it effected many of us here enough to recall such activity all these years on and remember how it gripped us with fear, or with guilt or whatever our own personal subjectivity of the situation might have been. Even if you don't believe in God, do you believe that spirits exist?
by sonnyboy inhow do so many people have similar experiences in "haunted" places if spirits didn't exist?
how do ouija boards work?

I don't see why we're so determined to define such things that in the end aren't really harmful. This might be a stretch but is it much different to us not personally understanding the full laws of the universe, we're just satisfied that someone out there does, and if we want to pick up a text book and read about them we can.

Do you believe that good comes from fighting?
by jeanniebeanz infor example, if you and your significant other fight, does any good ever come of it?
what about getting 'into it' with your teenagers; is that a good thing or a bad thing?.
does fighting ever yield a favorable outcome?.

wow nta you keep a count of the injury by doing your arguing online?! allot of things tend to be said in the heat of the moment when you're being rubbed up the wrong way so to speak that aren't necessarily meant to be as harsh as they come across. I figure in any arguement with your partner each party is partly responsible for what the other says, it's just never the most successful way of resolving any high tention situation.

Sounds like you have a real fight on your hands Brenda babe, but it shows real strength that you've got this far. Keep pushing for it. Just cause they're ignorant doesn't make them right. Good luck, I hope so very much that they come through for you. Frog xx

oh yes tha memories, can't say I miss living in fear, the anxiety attacks, lack of self-worth not being able to measure up to rigid criteria, superficial friendships, feeling numb and isolated, having my mental freedom repressed in every sense, sacrificing my life now for the false hope of eutopia, bs analogies, elders on powertrips, the lies, the shallow reasoning, twisted interpretations, the scandals...one of the few things in life I can quite comfortably say absolutely NO to, despite my usual never say never policy.

I see where you're coming from sonny, but it's difficult for me to relate since I'm an unaffected skeptic. These things always seem to have happened to a friend of a friend of mine. In the couple of instances where there has been only 1degree of separation between me and some sort of paranormal, I've had to seriously question the sources credibility. My g'ma & her sister for instance appear to suffer from schitzophrenic paranoid delusions. Both of them have looked at me in the face and told me specific examples of such happenings, completely convinced of the very realness off the experience, not even thinking for a moment that I would be listening in disbelief. These events do tend to concentrate on a few people repeatedly. The org had us believing that these people had done something to welcome these things into their lives. This is completely a useless theory considering it's unlikely those people do anything differently in their lives to me. I strongly believe it has something to do with brain mechanics, especially since it doesn't seem like completely random events, but apparitions that are visited on a select few.

Collectively fighting for ones human rights has yielded very positive results. In a one to one sitution I think anything worth fighting for should be negotiated in as diplomatic a way as possible.

it's called psychosis!
I think if you believe enough, despite the beliefs having no factual basis, those strong beliefs can be real in their consequences. I don't doubt that what many believe they see and experience seems very real to them.
