The people with very hospitible and increadably welcoming.
The problem with the muslem countries is political, if you go as a guest, you will be received as a guest.
When a muslim says to you 'welcome' it is more than just a word.

Internet Dating......has anybody tried it?

by Podiatrist injust wondering, my experience tells me that many jw live in constant state of watchfulness, bordering with paranoia.
did any of that have an effect on you?
like last week ive had a pleasure of browsing new childrens book great teacher or something (well it was new to me anyway) i was mightily surprised on the number of references to satan or devil.

SMURFS: Do all JWs think they're evil?

an elder told us that smurfs were created by satan worshipers and were evil.
he then told us about a young girl who brought a plush smurf doll to service at a local hall.

about 15 years back during a CO slide show visit I sneeked out the back of the hall and put on my pappa smurf outfit, then sneeked back inot the hall without anyone noticing me.
What a suprised everyone got when the lights came back on and I shouted 'what a load of crap' and stormed out.

Hi James, and welcome to the board.
I will let you know, first off that I am not a Christian, however was brought up in the Watchtower organization.
The posts sent to you by confession are something to take to heart if you are a believing Christian and are considering joining the Watchtower organization.
Also, you should check out their history as well. For example, the originator of the organization came to the date 1914 AFTER other dates had failed. And 1914 was supposed to be the end. He drew his calculations from early Adventist sects, along with the amount of inches in a passageway of the Geza pyramid. No kidding.
In the twenties they bought a large property in San Diego, supposedly to house the prophets of old, but, there new leader used it as a summer retreat instead.
They preach that Armageddon would arrive in 1975, and even published a magazine with the heading 'What will you be doing in 1975?' When that day came and went they blamed the ordinary witnesses on making it up.
If you've only been studying a year then you probably don't know about the doctrine of the 'last generation'. For years this was that people who were old enough to have witnessed the events of 1914 would not die before Armageddon. That generation being 70 to 80 years of age. In 1995, when that generation died out they changed it to mean nothing, because their prophecy had failed.
If you decide to get baptized, people here call it the 'Kool aid', you will be asked to sign a contract between you and the watchtower organization. Ask people here; we've all done it.
You've probably also noticed that the literature is free and been told its free because its the 'last days'. The reason it’s free is because of a Californian lawsuit against the Jimmy Swaggert ministries regarding tax evasion as a publishing house. The Watchtower organization was officially a 'friend of the court' to Jimmy Swaggert in that case. The case was lost and the Watchtower Publishing house changed its fee-based distribution to remain tax exempt, however, the ordinary witnesses received a bombardment of 'instructions' regarding 'contributions for materials'. Why is the collection box in full view of everyone when picking up your magazines?
There's also the doctrine of the United Nations being the prophesized great beast on who's back rides the harlot of Christendom. Well, even though the Watchtower preached the UN was Satan's tool, the Watchtower became a member of the UN as a NGO. A newspaper reporter in England found out after many years and the good old Watcher organization immediately withdrew their membership, claiming they only did it to get access to the library. Well, ANYONE could get access to that library without being a member.

Just to leave you with something for fun next time you have a study. Ask your study person to show you i the bible where it specifically prohibits birthday celebration.

Guns: Opinions?
by RichieRich inmy mom isnt a big fan of guns, but after being mugged once, she appreciates the value of a well placed firearm.
she doesn't mind that i hunt and go to the shooting range regularly with my father.
about 6 months ago, i was out in field service with my mother and an elder's 2 daughters.

I'm not suggesting the banning of guns. I think that hourse has already bolted. However, there is a direct corrolation between the amount, and ease of availablitity without training or screening, and death rate.
I don't understand why the NRA are against strickter rules for gun application. This will work in their favour.
If you want to go shooting for sport, fine. Its great fun and gets you intouch with nature. If you want to have a colloection of weaponry becuase of hobby, fine.
But, would the NRA want those weapons in the hands of criminals or psycotics.
Car accidents have been mentioned. This is a good example. Every citizen has the right to use cars. However, before you can get a car you need a licence, which you get after training and passing an exam. The car is registered to an owner and that owner has to reapply every year or two to use that car. Over the years there have been stricter rules regarding using your car. Seat belts for example. Where there is a direct corrolation between car faitalities and seat belt usage. The cars themselves have become safer to operate, and the manufacturer has to comply with those safety features before he can market that car. Which has had a dramatic effect of car fatalities.
So, my point is there has to be a way of ensuring a safer country with gun ownership. And organizations like the NRA should be pushing for this like the car associations pushed for more automobile safety.
For the gun lovers here, any suggestion on have to improve gun use safety and lower the national death toll related to guns without banning?
