  being invited to a birthday party

  i have been invited to a birthday party by a close friend.

  should i go?is it not o.k to go?why should'nt i go?.where is it written in the jw religion that i should not attend my close friends party.

  is this not a moral delema as oposed to a religous belief.

  Street Witnessing

  i've noticed in my area (ny metro) that jw's count time doing "street witnessing".. do you see the same in your area?.

  sitting on benches drinking coffee counting time.

  standing on corners laughing and conversating among themselves as people walk right by.. if they do acknowledge a passerby, it's a last minute casual holding out of a magazine or tract.

  Most territories in NYC are "worked" or "covered" every 4 to 6 weeks.

  We had territory in California that was covered every two weeks. In Tennessee we had a lot of rural territory and usually covered all of our territory every 6 months. A while back two congos got to gether to compare territories and discovered that each thought the other had a tract of territory. Well it had not been covered in over 5 years. We got the territory and were over joyed that we had some virgin territory to cover.

  I enjoyed street witnessing. It was easy, just stand there like a billboard and say nothing. Rural witnessing was also easy time. If someone had a call two would go in and 4 would sit in the car counting time waiting the longer the better.

  do any you ever remember the elders admonishing you to change certain behaviors, attitudes, and actions that could be considered a consience matter if it was stumbling another brother or sister...they always quoted a scripture "he that stumbles the faith of another will perish in gehena" (i think it goes like that...) correct me if i am wrong.. so i have been reading crisis of conscience and i am at the part about the 1975 debacle...my question is if " jehovah is directing the faithful and discreet slave (eka governing body, wts, etc) why would he direct them into making a colossal blunder on when exactly armeggedon was coming, thereby stumbling the faith of those in god and driving them away from him?

  " in essence, its almost as if jehovah allowed them to drive the flock away, which according to the wts he is so "desperate to protect" hence the need for disfellowshipping and such.

  yes, it can be argued it was the act "of imperfect men" but don't you think jehovah would have given them a flash of "new light" to correct the fallacy in their reasoning before the disastorous ramfications that occurred in 1975?

  They can not come up with anything new and original. It would appear they are going back to earlier Watchtower articles and regurgitating old light:

Let other publishers in the organization help you direct your zeal, now that it is fired by knowledge to a burning pitch. Direct it into tactful and organized gospel-preaching. Jehovah’s visible organization can use you, but can get along without you too. But you cannot get along without it. Fruitless ones are eventually pruned off and never missed as new ones are grafted in. Pruned-off branches soon wither and die, being cut off from the circulating, life-giving sap. Likewise, if a hand or foot is cut from the human body the severed member perishes, or if it is kept inactive in a cramped position it goes to sleep, gets numb, loses its ability to move.
