Happy birthday to you!
Hope you enjoy the day and have friends and loved ones around to stay with you.
i have a family member with a special birthday coming up; but he is a jw.
we have no connection other than internet anymore.
i'm really wanting to wish him well on his birthday.
My parents - die hard jws - always loved to receive birthday greetings although they would never admit it. But I saw it in their eyes. It made them as happy as any of us.
during talks, the audience just don't think.
the speaker can shoot off some stat, a comment, but "where is the evidence for what you just said?".
the speaker can give a really great story about how a drug addict became a jw, how it saved his life, but do they think: "yes, that is one neg example in the world, but what about the positive examples?
They are like in love. When you're in love you don't see the faults or the pimple on the nose of this supersexy guy. He's just so cute and everything he says sounds so good... blablabla
what's the point i ask you?
here in the uk, it's an unavoidable fact that the majority of people are out at work, shopping etc.
if you really wanted to speak to people, and felt an urgent duty because the 'end is near' why aren't the jws in the shopping centres, streets, and generally where the people are?.
My parents regularly visit asylum seekers accomodations (is that the correct name of it?) here in Germany. Sad enough they are quite successfull in finding victims there...
was following mary's thread on the wt study of the annual report - what a hoot!.
in follow-up; for years we have heard that the org's growth was 'proof' of the 'truth'.
do you think the org will come up with some obsure scriptural/prophetic understanding to explain the reduced zeal for the 'kingdom' now?
This is why I love this site...
Feb 2006 issue of WT ?Just as the Days of Noah? After we go into negative numbers.Excerpt: (Para 8) Just 7 days prior to the flood Noah entered the ark for the last time. Jehovah shut and sealed (no doubt hermetically) the arks door. At that moment all hope for salvation for the vast multitude of humankind was lost forever.
Excerpt: (Para 14) In recent times some have felt that the door to salvation might be left open until the beginning of the Great Tribulation. Careful, further examination of the parallel accounts of the flood and Great Tribulation indicate that for some time prior to the destruction of this wicked world the ?door? to the ark of God?s organization maybe shut. This has already been evidenced in some lands where the preaching work seems unfruitful.
Excerpt: (Para 21) Should the apparent closing of the ?door? cause us to slack the hand or become unfruitful in our service to God. Our next article will explain the length of time between the beginning of the closing of the ark, and the true last opportunity for salvation
I'm out for so long now (sind 1982) but reading stuff sounding like this still sends shivers down my spine. I'm quite sure, the WBTS will come up with something like that. And I am absolutely sure many will believe it. And that is the scariest - and sadest - part of it all!
i am looking for a reference for a story involving a man who has a store..he sets up his wares every day in front...when customers come up they ask the price and he always says they couldn't afford it.
anyone know where this story came from?
thanks for any brain help out there in jwd land... sincerely,.
Isn't this from Stephen King "Needless things"?
is it about the blood issue?
about the fallability of the governing body?
that they really love one another??
I think it would be more of a task to find out The Biggest Truth That The Witnesses Tell.Is there one?
dh, I'd say that would be a contradiction in terms!
I remember a saying that goes like: "Imagine there's war and no one attends."
They might be at (ideological) war but I don't want to attend. I don't have to play their game. Their game is one of accusations and the necessity to forgive. I don't need to accuse or forgive. I just go on with my life and give them what I feel like. I don't think I have the right to expect a certain attitude. I'm only responsible for myself to do the best I can so that at the end of each day I can look me straight in the eye knowing I have always been true to myself.

That all of us Non-JW are going to die real soon.
did stories, exaggerations and fables turn up after you left the "faith"?
They surely talked about me. Did I care? NO!
In a book I read a great quote: "I stopped trying to impress people who don't impress me!" I have nothing to add.
