seems like they are trying to get round the legal issue of defamation (slander) cases against them by creating ambiguity. Much like they did when they created the act of 'marking'.

Just had two elders stop by
by Puternut ini just finished a visit with two elders.
i had actually contacted the head quarters and wanted to see how fast i can get a response from them.
i was impressed, from the time of my request to them in my house... two weeks.

Absolute job well done.
I did a similar thing some time back; I am not DAd or DFd but I refuse to talk about the child abuse issue to anyone other than an elder on this sensitive and stumbling issue. The results i got back from them i could just tell they were not happy with it was as though the doubts that had been placed in their minds had not been satisfied at all.
In all honesty though; i dont believe that it would matter either way because people believe what they want to believe in the end;

But some are nice - come on admit it.
by eyeslice inbut you have to admit that some are nice caring people.
my wife missed the meeting to night due to flu and a sister who has far more health problems than us phoned to ask after her.
she even asked after me, brother 'long time no see'!

This is my point exactly.....predominantly they are nice people but what takes the edge off this niceness is the conditions they attach to it.
Nice if you believe what they believe.
Nice if you attend most meetings
Nice if you manage to get the average hours preaching work achieved.
Nice if you dont ask too many probing questions.
Nice if you dont rock the boat.
Truth be told thats not very nice at all....

Just got back from my birthday dinner.
by Undecided inmy family took me out to dinner for my birthday(69th) and it was really great.
i could feel the love they had for me.
it made me feel like i was appreciated and my life wasn't wasted.

Happy Birthday to you...birthdays are still very bizarre for me because of my upbringing; no doubt like me you are glad to be free...hope you have many more happy birthdays to come.
Hope to see you round.

What are the WTS leaders planning?
by doinmypart inwhat are the wts' long term (5+ years) and short term (up to 2 years) plans?.
the leaders know the end isn't right around the corner despite what they tell the r&f.
otherwise they would not have built patterson and purchased new presses.. the leaders are faced with mounting problems: declining statistics in developed countries, the internet, lawsuits, etc.

They have always acknowledged their ("alleged") successes by suggesting that Jehovahs spirit is with them however if they were to become bankrupt i would bet they would blame it on the persecution...we shall wait and see no doubt.

Were You Really That Much Harmed Because You Were A Witness?
by minimus inlooking back, did your being a jw hurt you all that much???
?

The list is endless and because i am now a positive person i dont tend to dwell on them; but this summarises them generally.
1) Being forced to consider my own mortality from early age.
2) As a child being prevented from socialising with people of my own age and intellect because they were not JW's and ridiculed because of it.
3) Being prevented from pursuing my chosen education because i was guilt tripped into viewing the world through short term eyes.
4) Being oppressed by the beliefs and teachings of clearly misguided people.
5) By being shunned even though not DFd or DAd.
6) By being forced from an early age to accept the heavy indoctrination and beliefs that even today still rear its ugly head every now and again even though i am free and have been for a decade.
7) The flashbacks of physical abuse I suffered but didnt report because i didnt want to give a bad witness.
Need i go on...???

Are you easy to influence?
by JH inare you the type that's easily influenced by the opinion of others?
i'm easy to influence, but once i'm back alone, i do what i wanted to do originally.
how about you, are you easily influenced?
-
diamondblue1974
No...i am open minded and will listen to anyones views providing they can back them up with clear reasoning; as far as being influenced is concerned i am much more inclined to form my own opinions about issues....i spent all my childhood without the benefit of critical analysis and the ability to think critically....now that ive broken free from all that i am not going to allow ANYONE to influence me...other than myself.

How do you answer when the witnesses call at your door?
by jeanniebeanz in.
to tell the truth, i am surprised that they call on me anymore since they know who i am.
just curious as to what you all say to them now that you know what they really represent.. jean

When the doom crew call I make a point of keeping the tone of the conversation positive....when they mention about the state of the world i counter it with ' i think its fantastic the way the whole world is combining their efforts to help those in asia...when they mention other issues i also point out that its fantastic that british courts have ruled that detention without charge or evidence is a breach of human rights and thats also fantastic....they run away quite quickly to be honest....funny that...

Im glad some of the parents did or do, anniversary's could have been an option but i was in a single parent family so anniversary not the best day to be remembering really...she tried a couple of present days but never kept it up....childhoods are robbed from JW kids...

Sex abuse elder's cover up and family. (Please read & reply)
by Dragonlady76 inhere's a question i hope someone can answer for me, if elders are aware that someone in the cong has been accused of child molestation/rape, and the elders have young children of their own how do they deal with this individual amongst them?
***in case where molester denies wrong doing & no action taken***.
would they allow their kids to go on field service w/ this person?.
-
diamondblue1974
thats terrible but my personal experiences would suggest that they would say yes to most of the above if not all; its like they dont even care about the children; like they dont even matter, this is arguably the single most reason for not associating with such twisted and frightful people.
