I would have been tempted to put my hand up and say that it is encouraging to find that their was a 0% increase in industrialised nations.
Are we not encouraged brothers??!!
oh lordy, at yesterday's botchtower study, paragraph 17 (i think) asked what we personally found "encouraging" about the 2004 stats that are listed by country in the wt.
anyway, someone finally put up their hand and remarked about how wonderful it was to see that ethiopia had a 5% increase......ya, i guess if you're starving to death, who wouldn't want to hear that paradise is right around the corner.
one bro put up his hand and actually mentioned the fact that there was 0% increase in virtually all the industrialized nations, but that we "shouldn't let that discourage us".
I would have been tempted to put my hand up and say that it is encouraging to find that their was a 0% increase in industrialised nations.
Are we not encouraged brothers??!!
i just got back from the circuit assembly.
some interesting perspectives:.
9 people out of 2500 got baptised.
points for my campaign of disassociation and reform, that is.
You cant polish sh8te, whats the point of reform? it only works when the people who can change it want to change it...and they dont...
i am not a scientist so i do bow to others superior knowledge on this site regarding these subjects (and welcome their input) but what is to stop these two theories both being proven so that they both apply to our origins.. what is to stop a creator creating evolution as a process just as a creator would create the laws of physics etc?
it would be akin to starting the ball rolling in creation terms and letting it carry on until the highest lifeform is present.
could scientific theory support this view perhaps?.

I was talking to an old friend who does have a science doctorate (Bio-Chemistry) and he seemed to agree with this in principle, what do you think?

hello all, hope everyone is well,.
as i read many posts there seems to be many that "closet" read and it isnt till many months or even years that they actually post something.
was just wondering how long it took other people to post and did they feel guilty?.
I wouldnt say I felt guilty but I was a little apprehensive for fear of personal recriminations against my family who are still JW's; my own view mirrors most of those on this site and I found it amazing that others had been through the same sort of stuff I had, I felt that I was no longer unique in this way and that bad things were afoot in the WTS, so glad I got out when I did.
Hope you enjoy yourself on here, and hope to see you around.

.
hi dear friends.
one question..... who knows about the "watchtower.observer.com" site?.
I heard that the WTS shut it down but I dont know for sure whether that is true or not.
Hope it comes back online...as all XJW sites.
here in santiago of chile, we have a district convention hall, called "el trebol".
its a very big place, and 10.000 people can be sat down in a comfort place for attending the talks and spending the time during the conventions.
why am i talking about this?
If the publishers are daft enough to pay it then let em?!
Welcome traveller, hope you find what your looking for, I cannot remember how I found this site but hell am I glad I did.
Hope to speak to you soon
G
i have been a jw for more than 20 years, but during these past few years i have come to realize that some of the elders and regular publishers are very hypocritical and insensitive.
they have done things that really disgust me.
tare so arrogant that they cannot take any criticism form you.
Welcome traveller, you have come to the right place if objectivity is what you seek; there are some diverse views here on this site but one thing we dont do is tell you what to believe...hope to see you round.

this article made me smile:.
march 15, 1986.. allow no place for the devil!.
"ephesians 4:26, 27.. a vicious wild beast is on the prowl.
A person goes bad because he lets his own selfish reasoning, his own ambitions and desires, his chosen associates and surroundings, mold his thinking and determine the direction of his will. Paul spoke of some who were ?once enlightened, had tasted the heavenly free gift, but had fallen away.? (Hebrews 6:4-6) If we are not continually on guard, the Devil can by his sly propaganda make our hearts receptive to apostate thinking. But how does the Devil, in effect, set a person up as a likely casualty, a victim of apostasy?
This is manipulative bollocks, if we stayed in the WTS wouldnt we be letting our chosen associates (i.e the society and the other members) mold our thinking and determine the direction of our will? Absolutely. Whats the difference? Absolutely none...except they would prefer us to stay in an organisation which is more controlling, leads through fear and guilt and that determined more of our will than we even like to admit.
They interpret selfish reasoning as any matter that we come to our own conclusions on which doesnt fall inline with the FSD's view, which is in effect their own selfish reasoning how hypocritical is that? Whats wrong with ambition and desire? We were all born with it, why deny it unless it adversely affects others?
No any loving God would encourage his people to be happy, fulfilling their desires and ambitions, and living the best life they could lead, not being controlled by manipulative and self serving group of men which have the audacity to suggest they are closer to god than we are....
i posted here a bit a while back.
quick background- df-ed when i was 21 (10 yrs ago), left the jw's as a single mom with a 3 yr old son.
jw mom helped me raise him for the first few years, so my departure was a sticky family mess.
A perfectly reasonable move in my opinion; good for you, keep strong
