  Elder quits meetings

  i received good news from my daughter, it was amazing to her, but she informed me that she met an old friend from a congregations we attended 10 years ago, and the upshot was that the friends partents no longer attended meetings.

  he her dad had been an elder the last i talked with him, he had left the congregation we were in due to the attitude of other elders there, went to a new congregation and the last i heard was very happy there.

  we had had conversations about various aspects of the supposed truth and he always tried to counsel me about the troooth as spouted by the pharasies then.

  Mouthy, I couldn't agree more with your comment. It's sad when some do as Ann Landers used to say and "Throw out the baby with the bathwater" Just because the organization may be wrong, it's no excuse to give up on God. seek2find

  someone on another site was asking "what if they are right?

  " which made me think about why i know that they are not and i wondered what was your epiphany or road to damascus moment or moments that just made you realise - hey i've been led up the garden path here!.

  here was my response but i really think a list of reasons on one thread for easy reference for newbies would be good.

  Hi Crumpet, If the question is why I don't beleive in "Gods Organization" anymore, it's because there are to many things that don't add up. 1914, 1975, 144,000 ect. I was once naive and gullable when I first got online in 1995. I was "right" and all the apostates were "wrong". But the more I read the more I learned that things aren't always black and white and there is more than one way of seeing things. I glad I learned what I did, I just wish others around me would see it also. seek2find

  I haven't succesfully escaped yet. Probally won't. If someone offered me a oneway ticket out with no possible return that wouldn't drasticaly affect those whom I love. I'd take it. I don't think that's in the offing tho, So I play the hide and seek game. Living a double life. seek2find

  A Letter from a disfellowshipped JW

  there was a disfellowshipped jw that came to the witness now for jesus convention in pennsylvania.

  we all tried to show him the error of the jw way but he is just so blinded that he couldn't understand what the problem is with jws (can you believe it?!

  ) we tried until we were blue in the face and it seemed that with every step we went forward with him one day, we went back two the next.

  I forgot to mention above that in my opinion the home schooling sought after as a solution to "Bad association" even serves to futher deepen the isolation and lonliness. So when few young people are availabe localy it becomes a situation of "no association" with the world and "no association" anywhere else either. So sad. Why did I have to be born in this mess of a religion? seek2find

  FHN I almost didn't look at this post, but I'm glad I did. This scenario is all to Familiar with me, because my daughter has ended up in a relationship out of desperation. Only in her case its worse than normal. Her Husband was disfellowshipped on the night after their wedding which was conducted in secret in our home. The move was on to get him disfellowshipped before they could get more involved and out of disperation Her Mother and I allowed them to get Married. So 2 years later, he is still disfellowshipped and they are still strugling, and we are still helping them. All this happened because of the loniness and Isolation that is brought on all who are raised in witness homes. The real sad part is that most of those involved (except me) think this is still Gods Organization. But for 2 years now they have not prayed together, or read the Bible together, or did anything of a spiritual nature together because it forbidden by the Organization. HOW CAN GOD APROVE OF THIS!!! When will the insanity end? seek2find

  HLC shows favoritism

  my family had an experiance where a family member was to have a serious medical procedure in a different city from where they lived.

  we thought they would get good suport from the hlc in that town.

  boy was we wrong!

  My Family had an experiance where a family member was to have a serious medical procedure in a different city from where they lived. We thought they would get good suport from the HLC in that town. Boy was we wrong! They were basicaly ignored, if the Family member would have been high up on the witness ladder they would have got lots of attention, sad thing is the family member died and the majority of the Family still has Faith in the Organazations policy. The moral of this story is this. Don't expect a lot of attention from the HLC unless you are a somebody in the ORG. peons get ignored. seek2find
