Thank you so much for the warm welcome!
by TooOpinionated inthe beginning of the end for me was when i questioned the elders on the child abuse policy-i honestly could not believe the 2 witness rule would apply that that particular situation.
i knew our congregation had alleged cases of child molestation from years past, but the perp in question was disfellowshipped.
all of a sudden, after about 13 years, she wants to come back.

My Grandfather raced cars.
He was champion in 1948 racing midget cars for USAC.
Hall of Fame tried to get him in but my mom stopped it somehow.
And he is mentioned in old Guiness Book of World Record books.
Thanks Papa for your contribution in my getting all those speeding tickets. -

I've been pre-approved!
by Dawn inmy husband who was never a jw does not see the humor in this - but i knew ya'll would.
occasionally i will ask my mother (a devout jw) a biblical question to get her thinking.
i used to ask her a lot of questions, but it put a strain on our relationship and i finally decided i just needed to love her and accept her the way she is.

still can't highlight
Satan will indeed put obstacles/stumbling blocks in your path - but view them as stepping stones to life and not stumbling stones/blocks.
this was in a talk last time CO was here. Dedicated whole talk to it. I can see it will be used over and over like everything else till one is sick of hearing it. -

My stepfather committed suicide. I can't imagine to have been the one to find him after he had done it let alone watch it first hand. Sorry you saw it. Mental images like that .......that hang with you throughout the days are so disturbing and unwanted. Suicide is a hard death to deal with.

PULP FICTION et al
by stillajwexelder inas you know, a loyal dub is not supposed to watch stuff like pulp fiction, basic instinct, last tango in paris -- what films which are classics have you now watched and caught up with which you could not watch when you were a witness -- saw pulp fiction for the first time this week - brilliant

I watch the movies I want to. Ratings are for the birds. Austin Powers is the best example of a PG-13 that should have been R. I remember my mom saying I was not a real JW cuz I watched R movies. pffft.... I want a movie with a good story. I love the scene in Pulp Fiction......CatchUP!!!!!!

Names given to children
by the_classicist inwhat i've noticed, is that there seems to be a lot of recent jw parents who make sure to name their kids by some hebrew/biblical name.
so now you have kids running around w/names like ezekiel, reuben, isaiah, etc.
there were also a few strange names that i'm sure some of these kids would've been made fun of because of it.. have any of you noticed this?
