A must for all who want to know the real "truth"?
by phil78 inyesterday i linked to a web site that left me spellbound!
here on jwd you can read as many profiles and testimonies as you like about life in the "truth", but yesterday i linked to: http://www.towertotruth.net/audio.htm and heard real life heart wrenching tales of misery and abuse.. .
i really recommend to all that you have a listen, especially those "still in" jw's trying to decide what to do.

There are very few things in life that we can be absolutely certain about, I have doubts about almost everything. One of the few things I CAN be absolutely sure of is the following:
That Jehovahs Witnesses do not teach or practice Christianity and the religion is based on doctrines of hate, fear and falsehood. God and Christianity is LOVE unlimited and unconditional, despite what the Bible is made out to teach by most world religions. Jehovahs Witnesses doctrines are most certainly not Bible-based, although they are experts at making them appear so..
By all means doubt everything, but not that Jehovahs Witnesses are wrong.

Reading Jesus' words literally, I never could understand how anyone could read the words THIS generation as anything other than the people he was actually speaking to at the time. The whole context makes it quite obvious.
So if not literal, then what. What DID happen wthin that generation? How about:
- the coming of the son of man - his presence in persecuted congregation (Christ enthroned) (mark 13:13)
- rise of false Messiahs = such as Simeon Bar-Cochba (mark 13:5)
- profanation of the Temple by Roman forces (Mark 13:14)
- Destruction of Temple in 70CE (Mark 13:2)
- Final destruction of state of israel & exile of Jews from Jerusalem in 135CE (Luke 21:23)

Where Is The Love?
by minimus inroberta flack sang that song in the 1970's.
today, it's the anthem for jehovah's witnesses in the "worldwide brotherhood".

But love is the message of the New Testament, and the JW I am studying with has confirmed to me that the New Testamant is not for Jehovahs Witnesses (except the handful claiming to be of the anointed class).
So New Testament love stopped applying to JWs in 1935 when Rutherford sold the last ticket (serial no. 144,000) for entry to heaven.
And silly old me thought the Good News was the New Covenant. Well it was until 1935 when the last ticket was claimed.

Carla
Following our earlier discussion, and you starting this thread, can I post one page from my rant to my friend sent when I was learning about what he was getting into. Sorry it goes on a bit:
Christian Baptism
I have many more questions, (I can hear you groan!..) but one really troubling me is one I asked a while ago about baptism, and I wasn?t convinced about the answer I got. I checked the Watchtower quotes for authenticity and they all checked out on the Watchtower CD. According to Matthew?s Gospel, Jesus Christ told his disciples to baptize persons ?in the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit? In the Apostolic days, Peter and others called on people to ?repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus the Messiah for the forgiveness of your sins; and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.?
People were baptized into Christianity in similar ways to this for 1,900 years. For more than 100 years the Watchtower followed this Scriptural example as confirmed by the Watchtower CD:
Watchtower
A Christian cannot be baptized in the name of the one actually doing the immersing or in the name of any man, nor in the name of any organisation, but in the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. This shows, amongst other things, that Christianity is not a denominational affair.
Watchtower page 603
We do not dedicate ourselves to a religion, nor to a man, nor to an organisation. No, we dedicate ourselves to the Supreme Sovereign of the Universe, our Creator, Jehovah God Himself. This makes dedication a very personal relationship between us and Jehovah.
Holy Spirit: Baptizing In The Name Of
The holy spirit, which Jehovah prophesied that he would pour out in the last days, has not ceased to operate, for the remnant are still baptizing disciples of Christ in the name of that spirit. (Holy Spirit, 1976; pp. 148)
I understand that to be baptised you must answer Yes to two questions:
But my question is still this:
Why, in June 1995, were the questions changed (so called simplified) to remove ?the Holy Spirit? that Jesus Christ told his disciples to baptize in the name of? Instead, persons are asked to confirm their understanding that their dedication and baptism identifies them as one of Jehovah?s Witnesses in association with God?s spirit-directed organisation.
Is an earthly organisation led by fallible men now inserted into the ?intimate relationship with God?? I am genuinely troubled about how this change sits with the Scriptural importance of God?s Holy Spirit:
1 Corinthians 1:13
Was Paul crucified for you? Were you baptized into the name of Paul?
Luke 12:10, 12
And everyone who speaks a Word against the Son of Man will be forgiven, but the one who blasphemes against the Holy Spirit will not be forgiven.
Matthew 12:32
And whoever speaks a word against the Son of Man will be forgiven, but whoever speaks against the Holy Spirit will not be forgiven, either in this age or in the age to come.
Acts 5:3-4
..why has Satan filled your heart to lie to the Holy Spirit???.why have you conceived this thing in your heart? You have not lied to men, but to God.
Unfortunately I cannot remember the questions I answered at my own baptism in the early seventies, but frankly it wouldn?t have mattered to me because although I had studied Scriptures myself, I put all my trust in my Pastor and my religion, who had studied the Bible for generations. I have just learned now, that to do so was wholly contrary to Biblical teaching.
For Jehovah?s Witnesses, if the altered wording is still in place, doesn?t this change go against the principles of Christianity, and even against the long held principles, doctrines and practices of the Watchtower Society? Am I to believe that this change came about from Jehovah revealing new light to an anointed one, perhaps during prayer? Or was there perhaps a more secular reason for the change?

Actually unbaptized means not baptized into the JW religion
Yet this is a change in policy:
WT
A Christian cannot be baptized in the name of the one actually doing the immersing or in the name of any man, nor in the name of any organisation, but in the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. This shows, amongst other things, that Christianity is not a denominational affair.

Fred Frnz himself said the only reason he had to be rebaptised was because his first one was by sprinkling, not because he was a presbyterian! I have been baptised both ways (but not JW) so one day I will ask why I would need to be baptised again if I was to join the JWs.

"Theocratic Warfare" - An Apostate Strategy?
by slimboyfat inwho here had ever heard of this so-called 'doctrine' of "theocratic warfare" when you were a jehovah's witness?
who has not heard of the so-called doctrine now that you are an apostate?
so why have witnesses never heard of 'doctrine', yet apostates seem to promote it as the last word on witness standards of honesty, integrity and decency?

Check Your Premises,
The first question was a simple enough one:
My First Question
With so many world wide religions, including many Christians, how and why was the Bible Students and Watchtower Society set up in the first place?

Frankie, What sort of court cases?
Check Your Premises, It is a 40-page word document that contains many watchtower and Bible quotations as well as personal stuff about my background and many, many questions. Some of my questions seek confirmation about the meaning and validity of Watchtower quotes. Too bulky to post here. It was written after only 2 months of studying Bible & JWs so I dont think it is as effective as it might have been. I would be happy to email it to you in case you can offer any suggested improvements. Some of it contains my initial conclusions on some issues and invites correction.
SlimBoyFat, I would like you to have a go at responding to my document, but it is too big to post here, and you no doubt wish to remain anonymous. I doubt you would be willing to pm me with an email address. I promise to keep it confidential and delete as soon as I have used it. I would expect you to respect my confidentiality too, as there is some personal stuff about me in it.
