  after all of this time developing, talking, working, etc.

  i am looking at myself from outside of myself and seeing a person at square one.. the thing is, i feel quite good about realising that i'm here, at this point.

  Its funny you should say that, because despite some serious difficulties in my life right now, I feel I have made some recent breakthroughs, to the extent that after all these years I am perhaps standing with my foot on the first small step in the right direction. Its easy to say this today, in one of my optimistic moments. Time will tell whether hope remains. I too was thinking of Littletoe today. And I am thinking thoughts of faith, hope and love, and which of these is the greatest?

  How could Jehovah alter his musical taste so much?

  someone told me that not so long ago it was to some extent unacceptable to listen to beatles music.

  but now it is rap and heavy metal that is distasteful to jehovah.

  i suppose it used to be rock&roll in the 1950s, and before that were bing crosby or glen miller the ones singing and playing the devil's music?

  Someone told me that not so long ago it was to some extent unacceptable to listen to beatles music. Its probably okay now. But now it is rap and heavy metal that is distasteful to Jehovah. I suppose it used to be rock&roll in the 1950s, and before that were bing crosby or glen miller the ones singing and playing the devil's music? Those who wait on Jehovah may be given permission in 20 years from now to enjoy metallica and nirvana. Just wait on Jehovah.

  we have a relative (by marriage) who is a jw.

  even though she knows we oppose the organization she belongs to, she still wants to get together and do stuff with us (i thought jws were encouraged not to socialize with opposers).

  she's a very sweet person and my husband & i have a good relationship with her.

  I think thats a great situation to be in. You can enjoy the friendship and every now and then there may be opportunities to drop in little pieces of information that might grow into importand conclusions.

  I actually appreciate this scripture, to me it describes field service, an outward show of goodness, completely missing the point being that salvation is a free gift and cannot be earned by works, otherwise 'Christ died for nothing'.

  One translation I read includes the word menstrual just to give a more vivid picture.

  which would be better?

  in following jaffacake's posts, a comment was made that when the guy gets baptised and the love bombing stops he may see things differently then.

  my question is would it be better to do all you can to stop a baptism or don't worry about it because then the changes may seem extreme enough for the person to think, 'hey, i didn't sign up for this!'.

  not that you can stop a baptism

  The problem is, as the baptism date nears, they are taught the demons will be working overtime to stop the baptism. So the hader you try the more proof they say that Satan is tempting. Its catch 22. I'm watching this one too for more advice.

  Advising those getting caught in the JW nets.

  if someone feels attracted to the jws to the point of beginning a bible study with them what sort of advice,if any, would you give them at this early stage before she/he gets hopelessly mind conditioned and entangled in their nets?

  .

  i would base my response on the principle that one should first carefully check out the way they (the wts)treat their followers before getting intimately involved with them.

  I was gonna say read crisis of conscience, but I dont suppose this will make as much sense to on non JW. Certainly talk to as many exJWs as possible to get a balance of both sides. Read an independent history.

  we're all in this together... and whatever each of us is going through on our own we'll get through it together and never have to struggle on alone ever again cos we've found each other and accepted each other unconditionally.

  we're here for you just like you are here for us (and wishin' to be there for you more than here, but thems the breaks, i guess...).

  Wow, was it really as recent as 1996, and I thought that all changed with the new light in 1962. I'll dig out my Franz book, thanks.

  Unfortunately, I cant hang this guy out to dry or he will dump me and tell the people I am trying to rescue never to associate with me because I will stumble them. I think I will keep a record of such points to use later in future studies. Thanks to all for the help.
