I'd invite them in and explaine to them the salvation of Isreal in Romans 10. Now we know that Paul(Saul) was a jew and an Isrealite and he knows of his salvation.
Rev I'm a non-JW, could you just expand slightly on the significance?
and asked do you accept the faithful and distreet slave as jehovahs channel on earth (or something similar to that) what would you say/do?.
i would laugh my ass off and slam the door in their face.
this really happened to a friend of mine a long time ago.

i'm the only one of my family who is not in 'the truth', and my family don't want anything to do with me.. however, today my mum asked me if she can take my 2 year old to visit the rest of the family, i'm not invited and wouldn't be welcome at any of their houses, so she would be taking my daughter alone.. i told her i would think about it.. i really don't think it would be practical because my daughter is not familiar with the family and i don't want her to be upset.. but the main reason |'m thinking of saying no is that i feel offended that i am not good enough for them to speak to.. am i being selfish if i say no?
That book is evil and subjecting it to children in a literal way
I agree wholeheartedly about the literal bit, but its so easy to show our kids why the Bible cant be taken literally. If anything in the Bible does not accord with the last 3 words of 1 John 4:8 (God is love) then we have not properly understood its teaching. Just in case we didnt get the message the 3 words are repeated in verse 16. As someone said on another thread, the Golden Rule trumps all other rules in the Bible.

My son (15) is clued up sufficiently (he knows enough truth about the truth) so it would be the JW kid that might be in danger of conversion. In fact this is a possibility in our lives just now.
My daughter (11) is aware of my interest in JWs, I would love her to have a JW friend. After what I have learned recently, my kids are going to be educated about cults.
if you haven't read freakonomics, by all means do so.
it's a fascinating book.. one particular story concerns one brave man who defeated the klu klux klan.
and came from a long line of racists.
Thats good thinking. Its really hard to communicate with people in it, but if all potential future converts were clued up, then they would find it hard to get past first base with most. If we could somehow give them the stigma the moonies have?
so many verses in the bible are so clear.
example: don't steal, don't fornicate, don't have sex with a person of the same sex....etc.
some verses couldn't be clearer.
I'm convinced that the Golden Rule trumps absolutely everything.
Now that is what the Bible really teaches. The JWs religion is in such a mess because they think they know what the Bible clearly teaches.
Jesus said that not a point of the Torah will be abolished (Matt 5:18) yet in Mark's gospel Jesus repealed the Torah by declaring all foods clean. I believe the Bible is inspired (God breathed). That is what the Bible teaches. The Bible does not teach that we have the direct words of God, or that it is without any error. There are deeper spiritual teachings that JWs have never scratched the surface of. JWs in some ways are so near yet so far from the truth.
Paul thought and wrote one thing in his first letter (to the Thessalonians) but had changed his position by the time he wrote to the Romans. He made mistakes, and was influenced by the customs and prejudices of his day.
I just think that those of us who believe the Bible is more than a collection of old books need to be very careful about presuming we know what the Bible clearly teaches.
i was just reading something and got to wondering..does anyone know how many of the remnant are left?
isn't "the end" supposed to come when they are all gone?.
and how can they be leading the faithful and discreet slave if they live in our area?
Do you want the Biblical answer or the Watchtower version?

A good question
I don't accept that the Bible clearly teaches what you believe it clearly teaches.
when i'm talking on christ, as jehovah witnesses will do, they often ask me how christian jews react when i say christ is jehovah god.. in the beginning i realized i didn't know.
then i began to ask.
a friend of mine who's in jews 4 jesus, told me....... http://www.jewsforjesus.org/about/statementoffaith.
New Jerusalem Bible
Revelation 1:8 I am the Alpha and the Omega, says the Lord God, who is, who was and who is to come, the Almighty.
Revelation 1:17,18 Do not be afraid; it is I, the First and the Last; I am the Living One, I was dead and look - I am alive for ever and ever, and I hold the keys of death and of Hades.
today was probably about our seventh meeting.
he never got a quarter way through his agenda because of my questions & digressions.
i kept an open mind on doctrines.
Mary
and who are these other "well meaning Christians"??
I suppose he was referring to my former religion of 30 years ago (SDA) which taught JWs most of what they know (a lot to answer for I suppose) I still love them though , or perhaps he was trying not to offend my Roman Catholic wife.
well i am no longer one of jehovah's witnesses.
i had fully intentioned to disassociate myself from the platform today, but i decided that if i wanted a chance to save my marriage that i'd better tell my wife.
she immediately went to to one of the elders.
Well I am no longer one of Jehovah's witnesses.
No longer one of who's witnesses? Even in the NWT, why does the name of Jehovah not appear at all in 7 books of the New Testament.
Jesus said And then you will be MY WITNESSES not only in Jerusalem but throughout Judea and Samaria and indeed to Earth's remotest end. (Acts 1:8 New Jerusalem Bible)
If you are insulted for bearing CHRIST'S NAME, blessed are you for on you rests the spirit of God. (1 Peter 4:14 New Jerusalem Bible)
But if any of you should suffer for being a CHRISTIAN, then there is no shame but thanksgiving to God for bearing THIS NAME. (1 Peter 4:16 New Jerusalem Bible)
