If you were baptized as a minor, I'm told there is a legal recourse to refuse the action of a judicial commitee. Any info on this?

Contrary to the counsel shown in the new "Draw Close To Jehovah" book (Read: Draw close to insanity), your field service hours are compared to the local congregations. You must surpass the local average.
And shave those sideburns!

This movie was fun and interesting. The quantum physics aspects are thought provoking, but much of it is metaphysics.
Since it's harmless, enjoy!

It was Rome. The seven hills were of Rome. The ten kings are likely Augustus, Tiberius, Caligula, Claudius, Nero, Galba, Otho, Vitellius, Vespasian, and Titus. It is another bible prophecy that never did and never will come true.

The bible, like other religious texts, contains some valuable wisdom about human character.
Keep in mind that (and this may sound odd) there is no "bible." It is a selection from a much larger source of holy writings, cultural documents, law accounts, folk lore, and mythology. These in turn demonstrate heritage from previous documents.
The development of the human relationship to the infinite can seen as progressing from early anthropomorphic deities to Hellenistic and abstract God's, with representative saviours that are common to many religions.
It's a valuable book to be learned from and contemplated. It is a terrible book to take literally, as evidenced by thousands of years of warfare, murder, and intolerance from those who put too much stock in their own perspective on it.
What it means for the future? If people can deal with reality, and let go of cultural escapism at the pressure of globalization, then the last great contemporary hurdle is getting past Zionism and Millenialism. Many good sources document the marginalization of a cultural group (those who feel they don't fit it) with apocolyptic thinking and agendas.
For the world to survive, we have to 'get it' that the world must survive. As repetitive as that seems, the pressure is to live into a socially constructed la-la land that excuses one from all responsibility.
I recommend and aspire to the path of Ghandi - find the good in all religions.
Or take the Zen path, that's great!
1. Accept and promote the good that is.
2. Create the good that is not yet.
3. Prevent the bad that is not yet.
4. Do not support the bad that is.
I go on and on.
Best wishes,

I just got back from the circuit assembly. Some interesting perspectives:
1. 9 people out of 2500 got baptised. My calculator is packed away, but that's about .025%. What fine increase! Keep in mind this also included three foreign language congregations, one of which is the only group in the state.
2. The bible was likened to GPS, and had "perfect guidance for every SECOND of life."
3. Young people were told to "Stay in their cage." I kid you not. 2499 out of 2500 people appauded.
4. In a rhetorical aside to defend the harmonization of the synaptic gospels with the late addition of John's text, the district overseer concluded his statement with "evidently, as it is, as it were, so to speak, you see."
5. The worst "new light" was given off-handedly. I quote directly from district overseer Bro. Bartell
On the foundation of faith: "Consider that the spiritual rock-mass on which faith is built is obedience."
6. As a final unusual claim, Bro. Bartell claimed that even perfect people would need to be disciplined through the organization of God." and that the God's counsel now was "the words of the anointed, and also the bible."
I got many new points out of the assembly...points for my campaign of disassociation and reform, that is.

The Watchtower In Crisis: Why They Can't Raise Good Kids
by metatron inif there any single factor that i would rate as the highest priority in raising a child, it is this:.
teach them to be caring, loving adults who care about other people.. we've already noted, ad nauseum, how witnesses are largely impelled by motives other than love in their "ministry".
"pioneer stroll" and fantasies about who's-house-you-want-after-armageddon, there is a further problem in raising witness kids.

Too true. And it goes straight to the top as self-fulfilling.
Generations of young anti-educated zealous youths grow up isolated from reality, then assume positions of leadership. Eventually, you find the current situation of the Governing Body being very old men, poorly or uneducated, with no experience in the real world, living in isolation, and desperate to be right about everything since their lives are in the twilight years and all of their past has been invested in the story.

by Dirt Rocker ini can't believe how many guys that have told me "oh i really really like you" or "i would never hurt you" <---- (my personal favorite) or just any other bull hooey that they just telll you to try to see how far they can get with you or whatever they want from you.

You're one small step from enlightenment:
Everyone sucks.
I never make pie in the sky promises like those mentioned. I think a much more real experience is being committed to being inspiring and inspired - appreciating that both parties will be close to many people in their lives. Out of that, an appreciation for the beauty and value of a scarce and precious connection can grow.

Zen of the WTBTS

"A renowned Zen master said that his greatest teaching was this: Buddha is your own mind. So impressed by how profound this idea was, one monk decided to leave the monastery and retreat to the wilderness to meditate on this insight. There he spent 20 years as a hermit probing the great teaching.
"One day he met another monk who was traveling through the forest. Quickly the hermit monk learned that the traveler also had studied under the same Zen master. "Please, tell me what you know of the master's greatest teaching." The traveler's eyes lit up, "Ah, the master has been very clear about this. He says that his greatest teaching is this: Buddha is NOT your own mind."" http://www.rider.edu/~suler/zenstory/impteach.htmlIt's so clear now! All along the WTBTS has really been teaching us that the ultimate truth is to think for ourselves. After all, the errancy of present truth (I sware I should trademark that and sue every time it's used - don't worry, the money will fall from heaven to keep the borganization going.) could not possibly be anything but a riddle or a joke!
