can anyone think offhand if there has been a thread about keeping hours, the timesheet, etc?
a friend has some questions, and since i was never a jw myself i am a little hazy on the actual procedure.
i figured this has probably been discussed many times before, so if anyone has a link to a previous thread, i would appreciate it.. does anyone have a scan of a timesheet?

At the end of one Service Meeting, I remember hearing an elder go one step further by warning the congregation that they must hand in their service reports tonight "...because what if The End were to come tomorrow and you had forgotten to put in your report? Well then you wouldn't have been a publisher of the Good News this month, would you?"
i love the way they say the end can come at anytime, but , these things must take place first.
1. great tribulation like nothing ever seen b4.
2. the authorities turning first on false religion and then directing their attention to gods people.
Realistically can anyone expect for all that stuff to happen in a short period of time?
No, but it will only take a couple of weeks for the announcement that they now realize most of these things took place invisibly or figuratively some years ago.
it really makes me angry when they say i love jehovah.
they don't know what they are talking about.
if they read with an open mind the carry-ons of this cruel mesopotanian god they would feel ridiculous and embarrassed for putting this god before their family, their children.

don't know if you knew this or not - they have a new study aid called "bible teach".
and guess what they will be studying come january 2007!

When they sold the NYC property they probably came across a room filled with a million or so surplus Climax books. Since they are a business it was determined that the best way to liquidate surplus stock was to study it AGAIN
That's just what I was thinking. In one of Ray Franz's books he mentions in a footnote that the WTS had done exactly that on at least one occasion.
a couple of weeks ago there was a post about watchtower circular reasoning, or paradoxes.
it fits very well with an article i wrote so i have included a couple of examples.

A Watchtower paradox would be more like "Satan cannot read your mind, and yet mind-reading is the work of Satan"
recently, i obtained some pdf copies of old golden age magazines.
i haven't had much time to read these but i just came across the december 31, 1924 issue.
i had heard the golden age was a bit odd...this confirms it.
Thanks so much for making this available. I've just read through the whole thing, and I really am amazed at how different their beliefs were at that point. I keep hearing from JW family members that it has to be the Truth because "the basic teachings have stayed consistent and really haven't changed much since the beginning." I had always assumed that myself. But let's see now... in just ONE issue of Golden Age, what do we find?

In one congregation I was in about 12 years ago they used to hold sign-language classes once a week for the benefit of a deaf sister who had no-one to talk to. I attended one of these and learned to SIGN that song. Picture a room full of people waving their arms around to the words "Men make gods of wood and stone, but the true God they've not known..." for about two hours. Totally bizarre.
how hard would it be to store every watchtower since day one , in a database?.
how many giga bytes would it take?
would the wts shut down any site that hosted all the watchtowers( over 100 years worth.
The earlier ones must be out of copyright by now, surely? If a site hosted those, I don't think there's much the WTS could do even if they had a problem with it.
a couple of my favs:.

Why no live music (even if it is some crappo organist?)
Two or three congregations I've been in had a piano or electric keyboard that was used to provide music - but there were only a couple of people who could play well enough so the tapes were always on standby in case they didn't show up. One congregation even had a violinist to accompany the piano. Also in the hall I attended when I was very young, I distinctly remember seeing a drum kit standing next to the piano for a couple of years but I don't recall hearing anyone actually play it.
one of the most notorious things that jw's like to talk about are their expectations for the new order.
they talk about what things will be like, the kind of activities they'll enjoy, how resurrection will work, what the "worldwide cleanup work" will entail, which houses they'll appropriate, how they'll finally be able to have the kids they've put off, and so on.
here are some of the things i've heard witnesses say about the new order: they would personally explore the moons of jupiter for possible human colonization they would eat meat, since isaiah talks about "well oiled dishes filled with marrow" they would travel the world they would learn to play the piano they would research the "other scrolls that would be opened" they would play football (but not tackle football) they would have bible studies with newly resurrected ones they would speak hebrew (it's the language god gave adam and eve, you know, and we'll all have one language in the new order...) they would literally never feel any pain sensations ever again, even if they banged their elbow.
I knew one JW who was convinced that in the New System everyone would have the ability to levitate and teleport.
