FLUFF: Tell us your favorite weird movie, and...
by GentlyFeral inall right, now that we're talking about movies again, let's turn each other on to some of these:the best movie you thought you'd hatemine are: perfect blue my first exposure to intelligent anime.
come to think of it, this is definitely a "best weird movie," too.fight club i'd been avoiding it for years because of the violence.the truman show i mean, jim carrey's mugging plus cliched preachments.
well, that's what it could have been.basquiat a depressing ending to a story of mixed accomplishment and really bad judgement, complicated by mental illness but the scene where he hallucinates a work of art he has just designed, and smiles it explains so much.

Why can't i ask questions?
by member inin the first chapter of the book " what does the bible really teach " students are encouraged to be humble and ask questions until they find satisfying answers.
why then, did no one reveal to me the history of the wtbts before i became a baptized publisher?
why do we encourage those of other faiths to look into their religion objectivley and yet we are not allowed to do the same of ours?

I quote an earlier poster. "You CAN ask questions. You just can't question the answers!"

I hope you find him!
I missed out on a relationship with one of my grandfathers because he could never accept our "cult-ure," and we could not associate with him. I was fortunate, though, to visit with him several times before he died. He was very cool. My loss.....

I remember the stretchers going up and down the aisles carying heat stroke victums during the 8 day fest at the Rose Bowl in 1963. My uncle always had the biggest umbrella at the International/District conventions. One of my earliest memories is my head bouncing off the back of the seat as I caught up on my sleep. I call this the "whiplash boogie" these days.

I hate to break it to the WTS, but there was NOT ONE person sitting through the ritual WT study yesterday at our hall that is losing patience with Jah, or, that thinks that Jah is "slow regarding his purpose." It was insulting to sit through it!

Oscars - did your favorite win?
by pratt1 ini agreed with all of the winners at last night's oscar's except for the best actor award.. i would have given it to joquin phoenix.
i thought his performance as johnny cash was great.. i also thought that jon stewart did a great job.

3-6 winning for song, a real low point in Oscar history. Song from Crash was the one. See the movie and you will see why.

Pink Slips
by feelinsketchy inas you all know, back in december the us bethel families were told of a major downsizing.
the word was, "if you've been thinking of leaving, now is a good time.
" some three months later the pink slips are being given out.

Honestly,
I enjoy these weeks of special activity more than any other!! It is so fun to watch the MS and Elder wannabees dance the dance. I love it when something stupid is done, or said from the platform, and the PO quickly glances in the direction of the CO/DO. New suits, dresses, specially rehearsed parts and comments. It is truly heartwarming.

Film Scenes that got burnt onto your memory
by greendawn inwhat were some film scenes that pleased or horrified you so much that they stayed vivid in your memory for a long time?
the one i always recall is the scene where anthony hopkins (playing as hannibal lector) lobotomised ray liotta (paul krendler) cutting off pieces of his brain and giving them to him to eat.
he also took some of liotta's cooked brain in a plane and gave them to an unsuspecting passenger boy sitting next to him to eat.

When Doctor Zhivago sees Lara through the window of the train, gets off the train, chases after her......and, well, I don't want to spoil it if you haven't seen it.
In Crash, when the locksmith catches his daughter.
THE love scene in Monster's Ball.
When Uncle Buck faces the principal
Vincent in the bathroom in Full Metal Jacket.
