i don't know if this is necessarily unusual but our hall lost power one cold day.

Rarely cancelled, even with severe storms. We had a PO who apparently beleived we were all postal workers " Neither rain nor sleet nor snow..."
In our hall if the sunday speaker cancelled or didn't show up, they did the watchtower first to give the "substitute" time to prepare.

I think, and this is only my humble opinion, that you have too much time on your hands to nurse your paranoia and anger. Yes, medicine is expensive. No, it should not cost that much to purchase medications. I would certainly rather have my tax money on helping people young and old pay for needed medications than pay for lazy people to sit home and pop out kids so that they can increase their welfare checks. But my conclusion is that the drug companies are not likely to lower the cost of the medications, and BECAUSE this is a free country I think that the government will not step in and impose any controls on that. So, I guess that it is up to me to solve my own problems by using the free enterprise priviledge that we have in this country to make enough to take care of me and my family and whoever else I can help with whatever success I find.
I don't think that anyone here is saying that this country is perfect. But thanks, I will take the USA anyday because despite the areas where some freedoms may have been eroded due to changing times and circumstances, we certainly live in a land of opportunity, which continues to draw people from other less fortunate countries around the world. If we are so oppressed, why do they want to come here? I'll probably get slammed for this, but I am of the opinion that because of the freedoms, Americans in general are spoiled and do not recognize what they have. We have become a nation that wants something for nothing, a free lunch, for someone else to take the fall and the responsibility for personal decisions. The fact is that because of the freedoms we enjoy, we also bear a greater responsibility to use those freedoms to the fullest.

I hope he picks Brooke, but I won't hold my breath for that one. Personally, I think he made a mistake getting rid of Gwen. But Brooke is a better choice than Miss Ice Princess. The only thing that might work against Brooke is her age, in my opinion.

I always wanted to celebrate. I remember loving going to my grandmother's house around the holidays and just staring at her tree, wishing that we could have one too, and acting like I wasn't looking at it whenever my parents came in the room. Always loved Christmas music too. Probably why I love the holiday so much now - making up for deprivation!! I hated having to tell the kids at school that I didn't celebrate then having to act like it really didin't bother me(read: I was a big fat liar every time I said that!) and how we got gifts all year long blah blah blah.

i was baptized twice in the witness organization.
twice within three years.
as an explanation, my old man made me get baptized the first time under threat of physical violence.
One too many!! But I was young and stupid, so I don't think that really counts in the grand scheme of life.

when i got baptized the first time.
2 (I think) Once for something I did, and once as a witness to what someone else did. It was a disturbing experiece. They took forever - I just wanted out of there, and I knew what they would do before I even went. Private reproof, which for a lowly woman amounted to little more than no commenting (big loss, that) but OF COURSE they still wanted me to go out in service!

Nope! I have had one for a long long time. My first was installed in my car. I have it because It allows my kids to contact me at any time, and when I am home, I can be on the net and people can still call me if they need to . Not to mention having it in case of an emergency, although the drawback here in CA is that any cell phone 911 calls go to CHP, and they have to re-route you to a local agency if you are not on a freeway which causes delays. But all the same., I would not want to live without the technology!
