In case I don't get on here on Saturday:
Happy Birthday to you! Happy Birthday to you! Happy birthday dear Richie! Happy birthday to you!
.
my thoughts are with you on your first birthday as a free person.
In case I don't get on here on Saturday:
Happy Birthday to you! Happy Birthday to you! Happy birthday dear Richie! Happy birthday to you!
so i'm 40 today.
wow.... not only have i never celebrated my birthday, but my "date-of-birth" (april 20th) has always coincided with that of adolph hitler's and, more recently, the 1999 columbine student massacre.
furthermore my daughter has just informed me that today (4/20) is also inernational marijuana day, apparently to coincide with the term "four twenty," which stands for pot.. anyway, although age 40 has traditionally been one of the major mile-markers in peoples' lives, i feel great!
HAPPY BELATED BIRTHDAY!!
I didn't see this until this morning.
We paid $3.03 last night here. They profiled a gas station on the news that is charging $3.56 for reg. unleaded.
I would not feel it was so ridiculous to pay so much for what we need to live if we were not paying so much in taxes. Somehow if we had more of the 30% taxes we pay in our pocket each month, paying more for gas wouldn't seem as bad.
yesterday after school i had to go work on a project with friends.
mom said be home by 5, but there was a huge accident a mile from where i live, and i sat on the road for like 10 - 12 minutes, and was 5 minutes late getting home.
mom was there (didn't go to work- guess why) and she was pissed.
So sorry that is happening Richie.
That stinks. But truly, as of Saturday, she legally can't take your check or anything else- the only thing she could do is charge you rent if you stay. Open a bank account on Saturday morning, and put all your money in there. Even if she finds the statement, she can't do anything. Now that you will be 18, you can get an ATM card to access your funds, so you won't have to carry cash that she can confiscate.
Maybe one of your school friends has a spare room that their parents (if the situation is explained to them) would allow you to occupy or rent from them if the heat gets too much at home. ALso, if you move out, even if it is temporary, it may impress on your mom that you are not willing to be bullied for using your God given free will. Maybe it would be a bit of a wake-up for her to know that you won't be easily controlled.
And yes, getting a PO box for your mail sounds like a good idea.
Hang in there!
I WISH my 18 year old step son had wanted to leave like you did. He lives with his Mom, and since he turned 18 las month, we are essentially being shunned.
i heard about this on the hispanic channel the other night and looked it up just now and found this link.
http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1609256/posts.
they plan a one day boycott in which they will not spend one cent on that day.
I think that if it is true, I shall go shopping that day and love the reduced traffic!
Ok, now the serious opinion. At my former place of employment (agriculture industry) everyone who worked had to provide a social. Of course a large percentage were FAKE, and every year, we dealt with a report from the payroll company of 11-12 pages of socials that either belonged to someone else, or had never been assigned to anyone. But I do know that every person who worked for the company had taxes taken out, so there are cases where whether they are legal or not, taxes are being paid.
I have no problem with legal immigration, jump through the hoops, pay the fees, have all your immunizations etc. I have a serious problem with people breaking the law, no matter what their reasons for being here are. If some white kid packed their Dad's Explorer full of 25 friends and went for a joyride, wound up in a high speed police chase, crashed, and a bunch of people were killed, many people would stand up and say that the kid was totally stupid, the friends were stupid, and what happened was sad but was a consequence based solely on his choices and actions, and would be asking where was the parental supervision. Fill an SUV with 25 people who snuck over the border and are being transported by a coyote to their new locale and crash during a high speed chase, and it's all the police's fault for picking on these poor people who are just trying to make a better life and the big bad police spoiled their plans and are racist pigs for daring to actually do their job and trying to catch people who are breaking the law.
I'm sure that many of you who don't live in an area that is largely populated by illegal immigrants do not understand the impact that it has. Some just annoying, and some very serious. Drive through certain parts of many towns here in California, and you would swear you'd been magically transported to the streets of Tiajuana. It is scary. Try to go to an ER, and you will wait 5 hours because there are people with a cold sitting in the waiting room because they don't have insurance and don't understand that you can go get a bottle of tylenol and just wait it out. How about the fact that antibiotic resistent strains of TB and many other diseases that had all but been erradicated in this country are making a comeback because they are being brought into the country by people who have not had their health evaluated by going through the proper immigration process? How about ER's closing because they are required by law to treat even the people who can't pay, and the number of people who can't pay or won't pay vastly outnumber the paying patients? Have an accident and need an ER? There is a hospital 2 minutes away, but they have closed their ER because they have a 9 hour wait, or it closed, and now the ambulance has to take you 20 miles out of the way for the next open ER. Our roads are packed with people with no insurance, no licenses and drive like they don't care if you make it home to your family at night. Rapists, murderers and gangs walk into this country , and continue to rape and murder. Then they walk back accross the border and disappear, never to be prosecuted. Your tax dollars are at work housing, feeding and providing cable TV to thousands of illegal immigrants who were caught and sentenced to prison time.
And all of that is just the tip of the iceburg.
i am curious if anyone still calls their god jehovah.
when i think of jehovah all i can think of is what they taught me.
it was true at first i felt a much more personal and stronger relationship with god when giving him a name, however certain things they taught forced me to see him as a cold and unloving god.
No. I feel it is extremely disrespectful. I don't call my own father by his given name, why would I presume to use God's name? Not only that, we don't even know if the name commonly used is actually the name, or how it is pronounced. It took me a long time to decide if I believed in God after I left and I wasn't sure I was capable of having faith in anything ever again. Ultimately I decided that I do believe in God, but it was a decision that took much time and soul searching. Finding faith after all the spiritual abuse as witnesses is a highly personal journey, and one that I honestly can't put into words other than to say that it takes time and a lot of personal examination.
she found an envelope with my name and "personal & confidential" typed on it taped to the door of our apartment.
i asked her to open it and read it, and evidently there is some evidence of apostacy that they want to review with me this saturday (4-21-06) at 7:30 pm.. the funny thing is that i have not been to a meeting since 1993, the last time i was at a circuit assembly or district convention was 1995!
i know that i have been spotted going to my church (3 blocks from the king-dumb hell).
I wouldn't bother to go. Not worth your time. Take your wife out for a nice date and celebrate their lack of control over your life.
yesterday afternoon, i recieved 2 text messages from an anonymous source that read :.
(person that turned you in) i turned you into your brothers for your own good.
gal ?:?
Glad to hear you are doing ok Richie. We've been following your story and cheering your chutzpah. It took me until I was 25 to get enough courage to fully extricate myself, even though I would have been better off to do it at your age. You will have a great life.
Take care
Caligirl
and under what circumstances?
would you kill someone if they molested your child or your spouse?
what about drug dealers or terrorists?
In the world of make believe, yes. Evil people who do nothing more than waste oxygen and dispense misery to everyone who has the misfortune to cross thier paths would be first on my list.
In real life, not deliberately. But I would defend my family at all costs, and if that resulted in someones death, well I guess it would have to ultimately be God's decision as to whether I would be forgiven or not. I would not feel remorse for protecting my children or family.
not that the jdubs have the 'accurate knowledge' anyway.
but it seems to me that if i was the creator i would appreciate all who showed appreciation in song and word, no matter the level of accuracy.
just what the hell does that have to do with praising god when you think of it?.
Good point Jeff, and I agree. Absolutely nothing. Praise and worship come from the heart. Isn't that what faith is all about? Faith is not logical by any means, yet it can bring peace and comfort. Worship or praise is the same, in my opinion. Highly personal, not defined by logic.
