The WTS is a lawyers dream defendant due to their deep pockets.
-------------------------------------------------------------------
Not really. Defendants with deep pockets can stall and delay a trial for YEARS.
I have no doubt that once a blood case (or a child abuse case) goes to trial, there will be a LARGE, BANKRUPTING judgement against the Watchtower. Any jury not composed of 100% active JWs would throw the book at the WT.
But, even a victory can be pyrarric: Defendants with deep pockets can appeal the judgement for years, and stall. And, I'm sure they've shielded the "big loot" in anticipation of such an event.

CO's talk - A People Prepared for Survival
by truthseeker inthe co last week gave the following talk, "a people prepared for survival".
he solely used an old testament example, that of the israelites preparing to eat their lamb and greens in haste and mark their doorposts with blood.
they only had a limited time to get prepared, get the sheep, cook it thoroughly before the angel of death came to kill egyptians firstborn.

when some JW nutcase takes it upon him/herself to become the Angel of Death in order to assure the Resurrection™ of Worldly™, Inactive™, Disfellowshipped™ or Disassociated™ family members and friends.

already happened. see http://www.watchtowernews.org/familymurders.htm
so sad.

Naughty Japanese defy WBTS and enter college.
by imfreeimfree ini was talking to a longtime faithful japanese jw who said that recently there are many young witnesses going to university.
" what about the recent dc and circuit assembly talks as well as the watchtowers, very firmly discouraging college.
the reply was " yes they are hearing but not doing "

Then I'm going to say "naughty mexican mom defies WT and will let her kid go to college next Sep
---------------------------------------------------
actually, in the spanish language congrgations the percentage who go to college is staggering high (almost 100%)
Sorry if its racist, the only ones who actively discourgage college anymore that I know are redneck white folks.

Uses of The 4th Dimension (Einstein was wrong!)
by use4d insince i discovered the 4th dimension, one of the conclusions i have reached is, the 4th dimension is an infinite access to the truth.
throughout this website, i use the term "i wish" - it is really a way to voice a person's desire - and from the work i have done - it really works.
from the saying: "ask and you shall receive", i have understood that any human being can make an infinity of "wishes" and receive the truth (the correct answer) to every question they may have, in the form of a dream - that same night.

he "looks down or into" the physical world and can thus see the river of time stretched out from the beginning of creation (aka the Big Bang) to its end or more probably to see that curves back upon itself.

I have trouble coming up with an intuition about what 2 time dimesions would look like. -

Has the WTS ever sued a "brother" or any baptised Witness?
by Shawn10538 inhopefully someone has some information on this.
i think it is an important question because from recent observation on another jw website, it has come up that some jw bethelites are suing the wts in workers comp cases after getting injured while at bethel.
this is big news to me since i have a similar case outstanding right now.

the WTS is a cult that is interested in its own wealth
-----------------------------------------------------------------
priceless quote. Actually, this worker's comp thing is a BIG deal. I'd be surprised if they don't move all production out of NY over this.
Good luck with your case. -

Could We?
by RichieRich inanyone active here should be familiar with www.ajwrb.org , as it is a grea run by "jw's" who lobby for a reform on the society's stance on blood.
i believe, that inside the society, we have another pressing issue that is, no offense, perhaps more likely to get support from average witnesses.
and that is, education.

Tons of everday JW kids are so pissed because they are getting heat for going / wanting to go to college.
---------------------------------------------------
Wonderful idea. But, make it a resource they can use. For example, give advice on admissions, alterative routes (start at a community school then transfer to 4 year school, etc).
In my experience, the largest barrier Witness kids face will be financial. Most JW parents will not (or maybe cannot) support their child in college. A resource that lists the MANY grants / financial resources available to anyone who wants to go to college could be put together. Actually, this might be on the web already, and could be replicated in some form.
Actually, type "financial aid college" into google, and start from there. Actually, I've known many kids that wanted to go, but without parental support were not in a position to go. This info would give them financial independence at least. -

What is something that you consider attractive, and unattractive?
by free2beme inin human sexuality, we all have things that turn us on and things that turn us off, things that attract us and things that don't.
often people think it is all about what you see in advertising, but often it is smaller things we think less of and yet it dominates our sex drive.
for example, in a case study we did, we found that a lot of people would immediately answer things like "eyes" or "legs" and yet as we drove deeper into their answers, we found that eyes and legs were not what attracted people.

Am I right concluding this?
----------------------------------
No, what peeple SAY and people DO are two entirely different things. Only a jerk is totally honest.
I come from both sides. I've lost over 180 pounds (from 430 lbs to a athletic 6'2, 240).
My personality hasn't changed one bit. But, now I get lots more attention. whatever. -

Monothesism is the probelm
by silentWatcher ini saw this article on the web, link below, and the basic premise made me wonder: is there some basic "end-of-the-world" mentality inherient in monotheism?
and why is it that both christians and muslims with these warped views are coming to power at the same time.
scary stuff.

silentWatcher
All the problems one reads about in the newspaper or watches on the evening news appear to be FUNDAMENTALIST muslims, christians, etc.
-----------------------------------
good point. I guess what I was getting at is that fundmentalism is a natural result of monothesism. I've never heard of a fundamentalist polytheist. I vaguely remember hearing about the Egyptian roots of monotheism in my class.
thanks,

Scariest snippets from the article:
After a cataclysmic confrontation with evil and darkness, the Mahdi will lead the world to an era of universal peace.
This is similar to the Christian vision of the Apocalypse. Indeed, the Hidden Imam is expected to return in the company of Jesus.
Mr Ahmadinejad appears to believe that these events are close at hand and that ordinary mortals can influence the divine timetable.
The prospect of such a man obtaining nuclear weapons is worrying. The unspoken question is this: is Mr Ahmadinejad now tempting a clash with the West because he feels safe in the belief of the imminent return of the Hidden Imam? Worse, might he be trying to provoke chaos in the hope of hastening his reappearance?
