I was snubbed by a 'dub

in the last month i left my job of 15 years for a new company (better benefits, room for advancement, yadda yadda).

i'm pretty excited about this new job - and it's a very large company.

there are over 4,000 employees in just this one branch division that i work in.

Dawn, you did well. I've experienced the same thing many times. At first it really bothered me, as I just faded, and was not DF'd or DA'd. Then one day as i was walking out of a store, an old friend, who lived downstairs from me, was walking in. I held the door open for her, realized who it was and said "hello". She was so rattled, that she quickly jumped out of the way, and went in the "out"door. I turned to her and laughed my head off . After that i was not bothered, in fact I don't even recognize any of them any more. Have you ever been out somewhere, and you might notice someone walking ahead of you, then all of a sudden they make some kind of quick jerky movement, so you look???? You realize it is a Witness, and then you see them whispering and you know that You are the topic of their conversation???It happens a lot and now I just laugh and deep inside I feel sorry for them, What goes around, Comes around....that's my motto.

Thought it was about time I spill my guts...

i have already posted bits and bobs about my "story"... i like the companionship i have found here and i feel it about time i get this off my chest, so here it goes.

i am a 20 year old montrealer (it is me above!

) who was brought up a witness from the day i was born.

Dessert !

in a small frying pan melt a generous amount of butter.. cut 2 apple bananas in half and then in half again.

if you can't get the small frying bananas you can use regular bananas but buy them a little on the green side.. fry the bananas in the pan until golden brown.. mix in with the bananas a full table spoon of good honey.. add several pinches of brown sugar.. top everything generously with cinnamon.. add a splash of rum in the carmelized sauce.. remove the bananas from the pan on a serving plate.. top the served bananas with the carmelized/rum sauce from the pan with a spoon.. top lightly with powdered sugar and coco powder.. top that with shaved coconut.. enoy and aloha.. .

Community Service and the JW's

a florists went to a barbershop for a haircut and went to pay the barber when he was done.

the barber thought that was very nice.

later that afternoon a cop came in for a haircut when he was finished he went to pay the barber but again the barber said he couldn't accept payment since he was doing community service.

I too am a hairstylist. I remember a sister, relatively new in the borg, came for a perm as her son was getting married. Afterwards she said thanx and I'll have to pay you later. I was stunned that she would pull that on me, as I was a single mom at the time, and had spent my last $6.00 on a perm , expecting that she would pay me. I saw her about 6 weeks later when she approached me for a trim, I said ok. I gave her the trim and told her she owed me $40. for the perm and $10. for the haircut. She looked at me as if I was holding her at gunpoint and said,"if I pay you that, I won't be able to go out with the sister's for lunch tomorrow" I said "well, I'm sorry but I need the money ". She handed me the money, and left in a huff. About 5 months later she had her daughter ask me if I would buy the perm at cost and lend her my perm rods and she would do her mother's perm. I told her No, she could buy a perm from the drugstore and they never came back. There were many other times that different ones expected me to do them favors and they had more money than i could ever shake a stick at.It disgusted me...or they would go to a fancy salon, pay ridiculous cash for shoddy services, then come to me to fix them up at no charge..They all wanted favors and special consideration, but when it came to me and my daughter, they had no time... or cares.

Would you have quit the JW's for a Worldly Person you loved?

when you were a devout jw, and if you would have met a man/women that really pleased you, would you have quit the jw organization for that person, if he/she asked you to?

i met my husband who was not a JW. We began dating, the elders of course tried to squelch it. When they weren't successful with that, they had a pioneer sister spy on me, she lived downstairs from me in a house. That didn't work either, because we got married and we are still together 14 years later. Nobody thought we'd last. So, yes, I eventually did quit going after i married the "worldly" love of my life.

for an oldie i'd pick audrey hepburn singing moon river ... mmnnnn, i never get tired of that.. currently i'm listening to norah jones an aweful lot.

she is very easy on the ears and is my "audible-heaven" right now.. so who's voice makes you 'melt' ?

i have to say it's Maynard from Tool and A Perfect Circle...he's very HOT..........his voice "takes me there " everytime....

Were You Always Afraid To Do Something Wrong As A Witness?

jws are always being reminded that you "could" stumble someone.

you had to continuously question yourself about possibly offending another (weak) christian's conscience.....were you always worried that you were going to get into trouble because you might've screwed up somehow??.

I didn't give a rats a$% about whether something I might say or do,would be a stumbling block to someone in the cong. The way I looked at it was, there would always be someone who would find fault, as you can't please all the people all the time. So i chose not to please anyone but myself. I did what I could do as far as meetings and service were concerned, I kept my nose clean as far as other people's business was concerned and if they were going to come after me, then let 'em. I had nothing to hide.Besides, it's been my observation over the years, that when there were problems going on, [almost always], it was usually the elders families that were involved.So in order to keep the heat off their woes, they'd create a problem with another family and pick on them, thus sweeping their troubles under the rug so-to-speak. And anyways, an elder once told me, that you can only be "stumbled" if you allow yourself to be, and I think he was right on that one. We are imperfect and we are bound to do something or say something that someone else will find irritating, no matter how careful we are. If theychoose to let my actions dictate how they conducted their life, then that'stheir problem. They were probably looking for a way out of the org. anyways.That was my take on it at the time, I dunno. When i decided to fade, i was not governed by the actions of any one person, actually I grew tired of ALL of them.hahahahahaha and I left on my own accord, for my reasons, not because I was stumbled.

I have to say, that my comfort zone is.....putting on a pair of worn levi's, a sweatshirt, comfy sandals, and sitting by the fire, with an alcoholic beverage in hand, shootin' the breeze with the hubby, the kiddies and old friends. That is really comfortable to me, and also, sitting on my porch, with a giant mug of joe, on a warm sunny Sunday morning... the churchbells in the distance, the woodpecker pecking on the hydro pole across the street. yup, that'll just about do it...
