  Jws act like they don't remember their past teachings

  two jws came knocking to my door.

  instead of ingnoring the knock, i decided to answer.

  with fixed smiles on their faces, one of the ladys offer me a flyer concerning the district convention.

  I'm perfecting my JW-speech, it goes along the lines of "my mother became a JW and it destroyed her life and broke our family apart." (That's true).

  Oh that was just a few over zealous brothers whom came to their own conclusions. She said that the org never promoted such a thing.

  Make it about the future, not about the past. I intend to conclude with "You are going to grow old and die. I know you KNOW I'm wrong, but that doesn't change the fact that it's going to happen, and by the time you realise it's true it will be too late to have enjoyed your life. How about making plans for you life just in case you're wrong?"

  my old best friend sent me back my spare house keys this week together with a present for my little one with a note addressed to him.

  Ugh, that's ugly isn't it. Suggestion: you and your little one are a package deal. Nobody sees him unless the see you and are nice to you too. Family sticks up for each other - your boy needs to know that if there's somebody out there hurting one of you, you all stand by each other. That means no little notes go through to him, keep them if you want, but don't protect the witnesses from the consequences of their actions. If they cut you off, they lose the kid too.

  Voluntarily Confessing & Then Getting Reproved or Disfellowshipped

  do you realize how many contrite witnesses went to the elders to make things right with god and wound up getting disfellowshipped or privately or publicly reproved?

  a lot.. did you or anyone that you knew ever get "disciplined" unfairly?

  many times, no one would ever know about anything unless it was voluntarily brought up.

  I can be included in that number: I went to the elders and told them EVERYTHING. If I hadn't, my family would have dobbed me in, but I could have told them nothing too. I could have lied or bent the truth or softened it in so many ways. I could have told them all to get bent, it's none of their business. I didn't - I repented and confessed, and was disfellowshipped because I did the right thing. I can name ten people right now who did the same thing as I, and are still in the congregation, leavening it up. That must be one well-risen loaf, that org. So much leaven...

  New Aust Census - other Christians growing, JWs falling

  the following figures are from the australian census 2006 as found at http://www.abs.gov.au/websitedbs/d3310114.nsf/home/census (30th june 2007).

  very interesting to see that the number of people admitting to being jehovah's witnesses has fallen over the last 10 years by 3%, whilst baptists have grown by 7% and mormons by 18%.

  looks like jws are not the only ones preaching afterall.. .

  That is because the WTS annual report is for publishers, where as the census figures are for everyone that calls themselves a JW, which would include inactive ones and children.

  I used to be so hopeful when noting the district convention and memorial attendance figures, because it seemed that there were so many interested people out there who have attended the memorial or the convention, and all we have to do is be a good witness to them. They were just all the non-reporting children, who are encouraged at a much younger age now to become an 'unbaptised publisher' to increase the stats. The census is the most accurate gauge of growth - even if somebody is inactive or faded, the census is a formal document where they put on paper how they feel about God. The census stats say that fewer people consider themselves JWs (count me as one less since the last census!).

  Ever Got the blame?? (sorry if post is too long)

  i have been df'd for around 4 years and have not got my back up about the org until this year.

  only this last year have i been looking around for answers and started realising there is a foundation for my reasons of not going back.

  at first i was happy that it wasn't because i was making excuses for not going back but bad things were happening outside of the people i know across the org.. what pissed me off the most (and the reason i found this site) is because i got the blame for my brother in-law having sex in my house with someone other than his wife (my sister) because i am not witness and thus have low standards.. i'll try to keep this short: i have 2 sisters, one brother and 2 parents (fancy that) both remarried however.

  That sucks too. Sounds like they might have decided to gang up on you so that he (in his depressive state) doesn't take on too much. He sounds pretty unstable to be honest, but it doesn't excuse him. When stuff like this happens, it reminds me that I am far better off not having my family in my life.

  for most of my 30 years in the 'truth' (age 12-42 thereabouts) i have always doubted many many things taught from the watchtower.

  however like many if not most of those brought up in it i got swallowed up in the whole social side of it.

  bringing up children in it i told myself that it wasn't such a bad life after all.

  You might be in a majority on this. I heard my brother say the same thing - even the thinking type will let their inertia keep them there until something happens in their lives that makes it easier to go than to stay. My 'elder' brother has said the same thing, and I wonder what he's been thinking for the last few weeks when his wife lost a lot of blood during birth. I can't imagine what it takes for a partner to be willing to let their beloved slip away. Something like that should make it so much more real.

  That sucks. Actually I've noticed that women blame everybody but the cheater if they're the co-dependent type. Your sister can't admit that she made a mistake marrying a drinking cheat, so it clearly must be all your fault. He'd be a great guy to be married to if it wasn't for you. Some people deserve each other.

  with all the misogynistic practises in the middle east already, taking away a woman's right to actually enjoy sexual relations, is barbaric and pitiful.

  Another update.

  just wanted to fill you all in on what's been going on with me lately....... well it's been about a month and a half and i've been to 2 congregation meetings within that time span.

  i've gotten no calls from any of the elders accept two, and they might've called twice each at the most, but it does seem like they're inquiring about me through another person at the moment.

  but either way, i feel im on the right track with fading, and i really don't care about what the elders think anymore, or any other jw for that matter.. my dad who was on my case hard at first has backed off.

  Im thinking about writing a letter to the BOE of my resignation from MS and pioneer.

  No, don't put anything in writing - you're fading, remember? That means you have to become invisible. If you have any regular MS duties, call in sick regularly, and be very unreliable, just be polite about it so the guy in charge doesn't start on your case. If you don't, just let them work out when to fire you when they feel like it. Good odds they won't get around to it for months or years. Make it their problem.
