I'm leaving on Monday...
by jaffacake inmy wife has been off work through illness for over a year, so before she goes back, we're gonna have a short family holiday.
we got a cheap last minute holiday...to egypt, so we're quite excited.
i'm gonna take my tape-measure and double check the length of the main passageway in the great pyramid at giza.

How/Why were the Jehovah Witnesses chosen?
by Hondo ini am not a jw, never have been, but lost my wife (a japanese national) to them in 2003. i have been in and out of some of these forums trying to learn as much as possible about what drove my ex-wife to, for the most part, reject me and take her jw congragation as her new family, her new counselors, her new best friends, etc.
a jw doctrine that has always bugged me is the belief that jesus came to earth in 1918/19, or there-a-bouts, and chose them as his one and only representative orgainization on earth (i think i have it right).
some may take this the wrong way, as it may sound a bit glib, and i apologise in advance if this is the case and i offend anyone, but my ex-wife truely believes, no matter that she can't explain why (and maybe this is my answer.

"Note. I am not trying to imply that only the JW's have stange doctrinal thoughts and ideas."
The JWs do have strange beliefs so no need for apology. This forum is mostly made up of previous JWs, and JWs who are or have been in the process of exiting this Cult religion. Many hang onto the religion for years due to family ties. The JWs have changed their stand on many things since this religion began evolving in the 1800's. The most disturbing fact about this religion, is that it is the cause of many many family breakups, marriage breakups and miserable children who are forced to participate in all the strange beliefs.
My heart goes out to you, and you will find people on this board who are in a similar situation as yourself. Welcome!

Hi Brooke--I think you should get a second opinion, and maybe try to find more info on the internet about your condition. Hope all is ok!

If you were STILL a JW where would you be now?

Horrible life--I sent you a PM. I sincerely apologize for jumping down your throat, I feel bad for coming across like that. I see bigotry every day when I go grocery shopping or out places with my mate. Times are better now than 20 years ago, it's mostly older people who have a problem.
I'm very sorry for what you went through. It sounds like you are still living in that nightmare of what happened to you. You should get an unlisted number and a big mean watchdog.

Sorry your mom acts like such a typical Jdub. That's too bad about your sister and very sad. There are so many people who are mentally ill who use drugs instead of getting medical attention. Hugs to you.

Kingdom Hall Spankings
by JH inmost meetings i went to, children were brought to the washrooms in the back to be disciplined.
often i could hear a child yell or cry due to the spanking given by the parent.
people in the hall would have that look on their face meaning that it was alright to discipline a child by spanking him.

This thread is making me really pissed off this morning. I had kind of forgotten how mean a lot of JW parents were. I really love kids, and mean people or people who are soooooo unrealistic of how a baby or toddler should act just really make me mad. So many people shouldn't even have children. Makes me want to go to a meeting so I can tell someone off or punch someone.

Just curious
by pratt1 in.
since this is the 4th of july weekend, do any of you display the american flag in or around you home?.
i have to admit, although i have been faded for many years, i find it difficult to even own anything with the american flag symbol.

I have a flag outside on holidays and my JW sister even saw it. I'm sure she probably thought my spouse did it.
