knocking forum

uh ok there have been two threads on the topic of the knocking forum closing.. from jen at the top of the forum:.

since launch, the lively debates seen here have been largely related to the jehovah's witnesses faith as a whole, with minimal posting and participation about the film knocking.

the goal of the knocking discussion forum, as listed in the standards of use, is to "discuss your responses to the film and web site with us and with each other.

What Double Standards Exist With Jehovah's Witnesses?

to be a "good jehovah's witness" you must be able to live by double standards.

you have to know how to play both sides to the middle.

you have to speak and act one way with certain persons and another way with the others.. one example of how witnesses live by double standards:you cannot join the ymca because jws can't involve themselves with religious matters or else be shunned.

I don't know if this fits into your post, but our JW daughter-in-law has always been soooo sweet to our face, but one time we were out at the movies and she pretended not to see us. Guess she didn't want her JW "friends" seeing her associating with a couple of "goats".

Is it true that Witnesses are leaving in droves?? Oh, this would be music to my ears if it's true, because my son is married to a Witness and is seriously moving toward getting baptized. We believe if he didn't, he would probably lose her. She's been putting a lot of pressure on him to join.

Does anyone have any stats to back this up??

I often wonder the same thing about my son and his wife. I can't wait for the day when they realize it's nothing but a cult (I hope soon!), but at the same time I know the realization will hurt them terribly. But, at least my husband and I will be there for them.....

JW Terminology

ok guys, list the ones ya know.. the truth/truth = the truth according to jw's is their religion.

for example someone baptized as a jw is baptized in the truth, whereas someone baptized elsewhere is not.. new light/light = a better understanding of the current status quo or 'light' in general which is just knowledge, new light allows for a complete change in beliefs without exception.. god's word = mainly the bible but anything else published by the wbt tract society is also acceptable.. true christians = refers only to jehovah's witnesses or suitable examples from the bible.. apostates = anyone who has been a jehovah's witness who opposes their beliefs (not necessarily people or individuals) and shares how they feel about the watchtower bible and tract society with anyone.

a person who hasn't been a jehovah's witness but does clearly oppose their message and beliefs may also be referred to as an apostate.. experiences = stories that will upbuild and encourage jw's.

as i stand on the #7 train going home after dropping my daughter off at school, i started thinking about this crowded train; and all of the people on it.

most are going to their jobs in manhattan.

AMEN!! Really enjoyed your post! As a non-JW, I could never really understand the "hold" this organization has over people. After all, they're JUST human beings. But, never having lived as a Witness; I guess I'd never understand. I DO know that mind control is a very s ubliminal and powerful thing.

i've had in the past studied a little about the bible with jws but have yet decided to be baptised.. i've just read lavenders' moving letter to her son and her love and well being for him is very obvious.

i do like the bible teachings very much and to this day i'm very interested in the end of the system of things which will very soon come to fruition; i'm a very strong believer, however i must stipulate to all, in retrospect i'm not sinless.

one of the posters says that jw's ask you to do a liitle bible study with them, attend one of their meetings and when you get baptised you have to do exactly what you are instructed or else.

Hi again. I LOVE how you signed off! And I'm so glad your eyes are being opened to the REAL TRUTH behind the WTS. I pray someday our son's eyes will be opened as well.

Be careful when they come to your door. They will jump around to different subjects & doctrines, and they have an "answer" for everything. Don't let them confuse you. I'm telling you.....satan has really done his homework with this cult!

Heartbroken mother takes action......
