Referring to being disfellowshipped as being "DF'ed" or calling elders "E's"
Bacisally shortening anything...
since the jw religion is sooooo restrictive, it is good to think about just how wacky this cult is.....for example, you can get counseled for buying a 2 door car as opposed to a "pioneer" car (4 door).

it's been roughly ten years since the change in the understanding of the generation was printed in a november watchtower.. while i won't discuss here what everyone already knows about this change, and the effects it had on many people, questions have to be asked.. what happens next for the watchtower society?
where is the leadership?.
in what direction are they headed?.
You know what always bugged me about the whole 1914 generation thing... they always said "no one knows the day or the hour" and "christians should not speculate about then the end is coming but rather concentrate their efforts on the preaching of the good news"
BUT.... they are always trying to figure out WHEN!!
I get a headache just thinking about it!!
when you were a devout jw, and if you would have met a man/women that really pleased you, would you have quit the jw organization for that person, if he/she asked you to?
Guilty.
I left home when I was 17 years old because my parents had found out about my relationship with a "worldy" person. I moved in with my bf's wonderful for a while, until we could get our own place. It hasn't been the easy road but I cannot imagine my life without him.
Funny, when I was a witness I thought there would be nothing worse in the world then being disfellowshipped and loosing everyone... and now, I can't believe what I was missing before!

i work for a rather large financial institution in nyc.
i run a large profit center and manage over 100 people.
on of my best workers is a dub doing a slow but progressive fade.
As far as I remember, witnesses who work with a disfellowshipped individual are supposed to do their best to maintain a professional relationship with the DF'ed individual. As a matter of fact, I believe that instruction is even found in the "organized to accomplish our ministry" book (the rule book!) I have to check that out when I get home but if I find it I will let you know.
Her causing a rift in a professional enviroment is really an excellent demonstration of her "spiritual immaturity"
.
is it the pedophile thing, ngo, generation change, blood issue?
what do you think it is?.
I was aware they dropped the idea... (I was 10 and had one hell of a time wrapping my head around the idea!) I only left 3 years ago. But there are MANY of them that still clung to that... (including my parents) who's faith is a bit "shaken" because of the change.
Unfortuneatly for me I didn't figure out how to "work the system" and avoid DFing... But... alot of kids are... just not getting baptized... waiting till they turn 18 and then just dropping off the planet.
I say good luck to them... it must be easier than gettin booted!

.
what is the most ridiculous song that you couldn't listen too.. because of so called bad lyircs (maybe misheard lyrics), sexy beat or because fo the person who sang it didn't have the proper morals?.
mine.... couldn't listen to ac/dc because it meant they went both ways.
Californication -Red Hot Chili Peppers...
the title sounded too much like "fornication"

I would have to agree... they are running out of "time"
1914 was 91 years ago... and the last I heard some ppl of that "generation" were going to live to see the end.
If you factor in the "age of understanding" even being generous and saying it is like 10years old... how many ppl do you know who were 10 years old in 1914 are still alive now?
They have predicted the end too many times... they are running out of excuses.
Also, I dont know about every where else in the world but in Montreal, QC they are loosing control of their young people. I left to be with a non-witness and since then I have seen about 6 different young people from the same congergation engaging in "inappropriate behavior". (and those are the ones I happened to run into!) None of them were disfellowshipped... they are acting. There is a serious epidemic of "double-life" going on.
theres a new girl and her brothers down here from kansas until may.
she sounds fun, from what i've met at the gathering last night.
shes looking for a guy.
Speaking from experience:
I was a witness girl... and my current bf (whom I have been dating for the past 6 years and whom I currently live with; can ya guess why I left??) would beg to differ.
I wont say do it or dont just PROCEED WITH CAUTION.
Dating Daniel (my bf) was the most turbulent experience of my life. As a young witness girl there is soo much pressure and guilt involved. If you are serious about this girl go for it; but be warned it is a rough ride.
put your hand on your hips.
switch when you walk.
do popular dances where you shake yo money maker.
Slow Dance with a member of the opposite sex!
I have 3 sisters... my parents would allow us to have parties... the rule was if you danced with someone you had to be at least a "bound volume" apart! I remember on party where I got a little to close and was rudely reminded of the "rule"... I was (am!) a sarcastic little bugger (not to mention the black sheep) and said "well they come on CD now ya know"....
Did I get in trouble for that one!! LOL
ok... this is good.
for those of you who missed my last post on the topic of my bethel trip, my mother "suprised" me with a bus trip to bethel.
we leave wednsday morning (april 13) at 6am.
Hey,
I went there when I was your age... to be honest it isn't as bad as it seems. When I went, I had lunch with some of the editors of the watchtower, that was mighty interesting.
Prepare yourself. Ask good questions. Make it interesting.
Good Luck!
