Freedom
by sweet pea inwhat a rollercoaster the last couple of days has been.
having been prompted gently and lovingly by husband 'besty' i have examined my faith, sorry the organisation, and finally realised that he has been right all along in his reservations.
i feel all sorts of emotions, mainly happiness at finally feeling free - no more meetings (i never could see why we had to attend 3 a week and always felt stressed about taking the babies along when they should be in bed!

Maybe I should go back and be a good little dubbie again!!
by AK - Jeff ini believe that i am experiencing a profound change in my personality, and those changes are at a stage where i have honestly contemplated this recently.
honestly.. i don't think i could ever do it - anyone who has followed me on the boards here know that i am neither suicidal nor an apologist for that lot.
yet, having been off work for a few weeks now with surgical recovery, i have had time to make assessment of my future.

Jeff, Why don't you look up the local Kiwanis Club and attend a meeting? First, it welcomes anyone that is willing to work together for the betterment of society, focusing on youth and children. It does all kinds of wonderful community service and bases its acts of service on spiritual assumptions. It acknowledges that there are many paths in life so one needn't be any particular brand of christianty. You'll find most of them are mainstream christians, but I was welcomed without hesitation as a Baha'i. Performing service together begins the process of bonding and you will soon find that one or more will be inviting you to lunch, dinner, a golf tournament, a weekend outing to help an elderly lady do repair, etc. etc. Wonderful way to make friends, live your faith and be of service to humanity. Just a thought. Take the first step and I'll bet you, you'll find friendship making is really pretty easy. I wish you well.. carmel

I DIDNT KNOW YOU HAD TO CONFESS..................HONESTLY
by vitty ini was in the borg for 20 years and didnt realize you had to confess, until my daughter did a dirty deed.. she was hysterical one evening, after seeing her bf and told us that they had been doing a bit of fumbling and now her bf needed to confess to the elders!!!!!!!!!!.
i was really shocked, i asked if she was truly sorry and she said yes, did she think jehovah forgave our sins if we were really sorry.
she said this wasnt enough.

Introduction
by Creeper ini thought it would be polite if i just introduced myself.
i am a former jehovah's witness that left studying a few years back for the purpose of solace and grace in my life, freedom from the hypocrisy of men, and the teachings which the bible does not correspond with.
i have since adopted a more simple way of living, and no longer have to worry about ring around the collar, or that book study that i never read ahead for.

Was this an "experience" or an urban legend?
by Gopher ini remember this story being told in the 1970's, back when nathan homer snore knorr was the wts president.
this story was probably told at the hall, or perhaps at a jw gathering.
that part is a little fuzzy, but the details of this story remain clear.. two "brothers" were preaching door to door in new york city.
