dad hates letter telling him I will no longer use NWT-RASH....and...
by oompa inas you know dad there are many, many things in the hebrew scriptures that have always troubled me about gods dealings with man.
these type of things make it difficult for me to not only draw close to him, but make me question if i could really worship him.
over and over i have been taught he is always just, he is love....and yet he had laws that allowed young girls to be raped by a man and then she actually had the privilege of marrying her rapist...if she was not engaged.

A pretty strong message, but then sometimes one needs to hit the stubborn mule between the eyes with a 2X4 to get its attention. Not sure what the reference to the detainees at Gitmo had to do with anything though.... carmel

How hardcore?
by 4mylove ini've slowly found out that my hubby was a great big jw in his active days.
he's been inactive now for about 5 years.
he has only attended 1 memorial and one assembly recently to supposedly appease his father that came into town to have to drive 1.5 hrs to attend the one in our area.

Definately "hardcore" until the day I was baptized at age 12. As promised I would grow spiritually upon baptism, and sure enough I realized that very day that there was a semi load of hypocracy in the Borg and I had been lied to for much of my conscious life. So, though it took three years to get free, before my 15th birthday I was able to physically separate from the clutches of a disfunctional dedicated JW family and set a new course in life. Soon thereafter DF'd in absentia, and full freedom realized. I'd confront the spouse really soon before he can re-build relationships in the cult. carmel

Raised a JW from birth...
by portcontrol7 ini am now 31 and after leaving the "truth" in my teenage years i was plagued with anger towards the organization as well as christianity in general.
has anyone come to read the teachings of the buddha and found them a refreshing and eye opening insight into the nature of reality?
not long ago i picked up a book entitled "awakening the buddha within", and have found spirituality in a way that i could never find in the jehovah's witnesses organization.

Welcome PORT! Yes, I've investigated Buddhism and other world religions. I began that journey while in college and was fascinated by what they all have in common, even though some of their social teachings differed, there core moral and ethical teachings were almost identical. Live well and prosper! carmel

Need Some Advice on MIL JW
by dkeithia inok i will try and make this story short because its not my intent to go on a huge mil bashing spree.
september of 2004 i meet my now husband.
while we were dating he told me that he wanted nothing to do with his family because they were jw's and he was disfellowshipped because of them and his now ex-fiancee.

Avoid all toxins especially for those in their early years. Caustic substances (Inlaws) leave nothing behind worthwhile. Adopt a new set of parents/grandparents. There are literally thousands of senior citizens that would love to have a healthy loving relationship with a young couple with children that are without parents and grandparents. I did this very early on in my exit from the Borg and loved having their friendship. carmel

So good it will make your brains fall out...
by Gregor inget a tub of fresh chicken livers.
rinse, dry with a paper towel and dredge them in a beaten egg and roll them in bread crumbs mixed with some garlic and onion salt, paprika, black pepper and a little chili powder.. fry them in about a 1/2 inch of hot oil to a nice golden brown (the liver cooks before the batter browns so don't worry about raw liver).
drain and cool.

.....hmmmmm....muscle produces lactic acid in abundance.....still most of us love a good New York stake made of dead cow muscle.... Kidney is the filter, liver is the converter of complex molecules to simple ones, and back again...not a filter. pass me the soul food... carmel

Worst WT term ever
by Robert7 inmy vote for the worst watchtower term is:.
circumcision of the heart!.
i can't believe that there are people who can not only say "circumcision of the heart" with a straight face in front of the congregation, but defend its 'meaning'.. other runners up in my opinion:.

Is there "spiritual indigestion" or "heart foreskin"? just thougt it would be a natural follow on...... carmel

Is Your Adulthood Authentic?
by prophecor ini've been training with some uniquely gifted folks at my place of employment.
life has done some seemingly impressive things with them.
one who's spent numerous years in the marine corps is an excellent asset to the company as are others who've likewise spent time in the military.

I don't really know what "authentic" means, but looking at my situation compared to many here who spent all their youth and much of their adult life as slaves to the Borg, I feel fortunate. Financially, socially, spiritually, and intellectually I feel happy with where I am. I feel fortunate that I have demonstrably returned to humanity significant contributions in all those areas and will go to the next phase with certitude that this life was worthwhile. carmel

What are your plans for 2014?
by DT in2014 may be a great year for apostates.
i'm already making plans.
i think the arrival of 2014 will be a disturbing event for many jw's.

Carmel
Why do you think 2014 is any more special than 2012 that is all the rage on night talk radio? Afterall, don't the Mayans have more credibility that the FDS? carmel

COULD YOU HANDLE LIFE ALONE?
by Mary inif you mate died suddenly or left you, could you handle life alone?
would you remain single or get married again?
i ask this because my brother in law's witness mom just died recently, and we're wondering how his dad is going to handle life alone now.

After nearly fifty years of marriage, I've been trained not to make such decisions alone. In the event Mrs. bit the dust, I'd have to consult with the dog, cat and seven fish before declaring myself eligible again. Not likely the feline and pup would be willing to share. Fishies, however, like to have someone around to feed them so it might come down to a split decision. carmel
