  Is Fading a DF Offense?

  wife sweet pea and i are just starting the 2nd phase of our fade, which as we are already inactive and at 50% meeting attendance, means stopping going altogether.. supposing the elders decide they want to make a shepherding call - which we naturally decline - could they announce us as 'no longer known as jw's' for declining the call, not being at meetings and being inactive?.

  what if we did take the shepherding call and told the elders we just weren't coming back, with no specific reasons given?

  they would be bound to ask if we still believed the fds doctrine, which we could lie about use theocratic warfare strategy and say we were just a bit depressed, with money worries, struggling with the routine etc and would probably be back soon.. thoughts?.

  Word/image Association: What does "Rainbow" make you think of?

  a jw who works where i work saw a new age cd with an image of a rainbow on the cover, and immediately said "this is homosexual".

  is this a widespread feeling among jw's, or fundamentalists in general?

  Ten years ago I was preparing to leave Alaska on my way to Israel. Lots of water under the bridge, forty pounds lighter, and all kinds of material possessions that need to be shed. carmel

  Difficult to build faith up at church after leaving WTS

  how many of you who decided to remain christian and started to go to church had a hard time building your faith back up again after leaving the wts?

  i'm having a hard time.

  it's been 4 months since i began attending the penticostal assembly of god church in my town, and i love it.

  Just curious... If the bible is a compilation of myths (which much of it is in my mind) then how is it that the jealous, vengful, wrathful God depicted therein is taken to be literal? Seems some have come to terms with the mythology but conveniently hang on to literalism as a reason to reject the validity of the bible.. Isn't this a little bit of a contradiction? carmel

  so i laid 1500 sf of sod thursday (approx 2,000 #), and unloaded 1500 # of sand yesterday, and did a whole lot of roto-tilling and raking and dog-turd scooping, not to mention the idiot "helpers" at home depot.. anyway, my poor old body (54 years old) foolishly listened to my 18-year old brain and said (like that little devil on the shoulder): "sure, you can do it, you can do it!!!".

  lol.

  i'm a "loner", so no one is following me, and i'm not following anyone.. maybe i tend slightly towards being a follower, but it better be worth my time, or i'll be back to a loner once more.

  Pretty much I've been in leadership roles most of my life. Elected to lots of positions, appointed to other things. Guess I find it hard not to speak out and be forthright in gatherings so following is not easy for me. Guess I always fill a vacuum when it exists...It has served me well most of the time. carmel

  Blue, I think the secularization is a good thing. It gives the Christian right something to rail about! We had a wonderful lamb roast yesterday cause Costco was catering to the Xtians that go for muttin on Easter. So, we got a great meal on sale!! As one who rejected the whole literal resurrection years ago, Easter for me has always been just a fun time for the kids to color eggs, hide them from each other then have one heck of a big potato salad with all those hard boiled eggs. Crumpet, regarding God re-marketing, I'm convinced He has. Not unlike the early beginings of Christianity and Islam, it all starts with one person and works its "magic" and eventually becomes known, but not commonly accepted for quite some time.. carmel

  ),who they quote to prove the trinity is false, also says that docrines that christ is an angel have a pagan origin also!.

  so wt has been preaching a doctrine of pagan origin all along..

  Gill, Perhaps you should check your biology text book. Look up parthinogenisus! Of course the result is haploid and more often than not stillborn!! So Jesus only had half the genetic compliment! Some saviour that would make! carmel
