How do you trust your partner?
by sonnyboy indoes anyone really trust their girlfriend/boyfriend around members of the appropriate sex?.
i thought we had some form of trust, but i dropped my biotch off at the car dealership today and noticed a rather long conversation going on with a "questionable" neighbor (one that we've talked about before in a sexual way).
so, how do you go about building trust in a relationship?

Trust was never an issue before. Now that he has joined an org that can and does rationalize anything, there is no trust. How do you trust someone who has a whole cong thinking you are filled with satan. How do you trust anyone who can join an org that asks people if they can "sneak out of the house without your wife knowing"? Not exaclty an org that believes in the sanctity of marriage. carla

Will the W.T. teach my daughter that it is okay to lie to worldly people?
by hubert inmy daughter never liked to lie, and always tried very hard not to.
in fact, she really hates anything to do with lying.. so, i'm wondering if when she gets baptized, will she be told by the elders that it's okay to lie to worldly nonbelievers for any particular reasons?
i think this would make her start thinking that something is wrong with this picture.. what do you think?.

I think they lie without even realizing it. I know my husband often will say something then say, "I never said that", or the ever famous, "I don't remember". Somehow if he doesn't remember it, that makes it ok. Then his 'motives' become the question. Very good at bait & switch. Change to focus of the discussion. Somehow he can rationalize away anything he has previously said by saying I have too good of a memory and hold him accountable for every word! Well, is it unusual to expect someone to say what they actually mean? Or he often will say, "I didn't mean it that way". So I would say they teach them to lie in such a subtle way they don't even know it's going on. If you bring up the fact that non jw's (and even within the org, jw's) are not always "worthy" of the truth (see their own literature) they then claim 'everyone' is worthy of the truth. You can only wonder what they mean then! Do they mean the truth as in not a falshood or do they mean their 'truth' as in jw beliefs? carla

just created a site www.jwfacts.com
by jwfacts ini just put together a site that tries to logically show the witnesses are not the true religion.
just wondering how to get the information out to people that most need it.
also any ideas on how to get the site found by search engines.

I liked the site! Wow, yet another site about jw's. After two years of extensive research I can't believe new ones are still popping up. As for 'loaded' language, I don't mind it at all. I was never a jw so when I first began studying about them it was all so confusing. The general population knows nothing about 1914, false dates, etc.. and try to explain the whole UN thing to someone who knows nothing about the jw's! First you have to start with what the WT was teaching and WHY this is such a big deal. I guess it is hard to balance between appealing mainly to jw's and also the general public. I will look through more of it later. It's already in my favorites. Good luck. carla

A Christian question, but applies to all thinking Christian too!
by free2beme inno longer being a christian, it has become a mind opening experience to look back and see certian things i once ignored or just brushed off.
yet now i can not help but see these things and wonder why other christians do not.. if you have ever studied greek, roman or any other cultures religions in history.
then you have no doubt read their legends, about gods and how things came to be, and no doubt you have enjoyed these and at the same time you must have wondered how people actually bought this enough to make it a religion.

I talked to Gary Bussleman about two years ago. He had some interesting things to say about how some Jewish people regard some of the OT stories. Care to comment Gary? As for Christians believing all of the OT stories, I think there are many different views on literal or not. An interesting thing to study though. I don't believe there is a short answer for this. carla

Drop hints to your significant other at the convention
by ithinkisee inconsider this your apostate service meeting schedule for the district convention:.
there are a few talks that you can maybe make some off-handed comments to your significant other that may seem harmless at the time, but you can use to your advantage down the road as you break the news to them about what you have been learning about the "truth".
i did some of these myself and plan to draw on them when i break the news to my wife.

Can you tell me, do all conventions follow the same talks? Will this line of questions work for other conventions? Is the drama the same at every dc? when do the baptisms take place? I know it is Saturday's but when in the line up? Is the 'no regrets' thing going to be a theme at all of them? thanks, carla

It's tough not to FREAK OUT at dubs
by GetBusyLiving inman i didn't realize how tough it is to not to lose your mind and get dogmatic while talking with jay-dubs a while ago.
just hearing those stupid answers, seeing the blank looks, and being called an apostate whenever they are cornered is soooo frustrating!!
have you guys had experiences like that too?

KLS---The "smirk"!!! Ohhh how I hate that! I know exactly what you are talking about. Daughter calls it 'the evil smirk'!! or ' the sick smile'. It pisses me off just thinking about it! So they not only have taken over his brain but also his facial expressions as well as other things. disgusted, carla
