Welcome! Yes, all types here! A few active jw's and yes we keep asking them about getting df'd for being here. You will find many in the same boat as yourself. I'm not jw, never been, just trying to get loved one out. I'm a ubm (unbelieving mate). question for you- What's the deal with not reading comic books? I have seen that a few times now. Do you mean even the old Spider Man, or Wonder Woman, or things on that line? Or are there some that are more 'adult' now? Or just any comic book at all?

I don't understand. Scholar says the wt is influenced by the Holy Spirit yet jw's I know say that the writings of the wt are not infallible. How could it be both? If something is influenced by the Holy Spirit is could not have error, yet jw's do admit to errors in the past (or what the rest of us call false prophecies). Can someone explain such thinking?
Scholar, so does that mean that the Bible, which was influenced by the Holy Spirit could be as full of errors as the wt's have been?

ever answer the door and tell them how pagan they were?
we had one jw house that used to be totally dark except for the porch light so we could read their sign- we are jw's and do not celebrate halloween.

The kid went to our school and we thought it was a rip off for him. By Monday we all forgot about him and no trick or treating so I don't think anyone ever even asked him about it. He was a year behind me so I didn't really know him that well. Just wondered if your families hid out on that night as well.

Sunday service

it used to be quite common for people to go out in field service on sundays after the meeting.........and even fairly regularly on some evenings.. in our hall, this has turned into a bit of a charade..........it's always announced there will be a meeting for service, etc.
etc............but no one at all goes out........not even the brother taking the arrangement.. i don't think many spend their evenings doing this anymore either.. is this what is happening in other congregations?

Oh we will follow the rules of that board. I myself like a more personal touch and mail antiwitness stuff to them when I know the parents aren't around to get the mail! If it's the truth it should be able to withstand a little scrutiny. All's fair in love and war! They screwed my family I have no qualms telling some witness kid the truth about this wretched cult.

I can't read the WT and AWAKE anymore
by Jez inhundreds of supplementary publications written by unnamed authors that can hide behind the watchtower and bible tract society and say anything without referencing it.
lately, i have been thinking that this is one of the reasons that the society does not encourage higher education.
try handing in an essay without your name on it, try not referencing your essay, try having no works cited, try to have only 1 works cited, try quoting out of context, try spewing statistics or numbers or trends in your essay with no reference or date, add ellipsis that only alert your instructor to the potential of hidden information, or try presenting as support for your thesis a third party quote.

That has been my point as well! How frustrating he can't see it.
Does it bother some of you that those things (wt's) are lying about the house? That would put me over the edge I think. Actually if he leaves anything out I will leave out so much damning printouts & books it would make his head spin. One child claims that if any of that 'crap' is lying around they will either burn it or flush it! cheers to that.
