About the time I hit the teenaged years I used to ask why I couldn't grow out my hair. I argued that we weren't like cats or dogs with a particular length of hair. Ours kept growing [remember Crystal gayle?] so I reasoned that we could make a decision about how we looked. It was the same argument they used with beards. Grow it and lose your privileges.
The only thing keeping me from a full beard these days is my genetic disposition. Too patchy/thin. I have to be content with a vandyke or more recently, a soul patch.

beards not a rule but!!!
by frogit inhttp://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/magazine/4666132.stm .
this caught my eyes and reminded me when as a ministerial servant that we had to go into the back room for instructions from the po (not very clever man), he tried his best to explain to us ms and elders about the wearing of beards in the congregation.
he must have gone on and on for 30 minutes about not having beards, but kept impressing that this was not a rule, but beards should not be worn, but its not a rule, just dont expect to have any privileges if you grow one on your face and wear it (sounds like you wear it like a tie he he) but we are not making it a rule, just dont wear a beard.

Lo' and Behold - I start hearing Kingdom Melodies in the coffee shop.....
by AK - Jeff ini was peacefully reading an old copy of stephen cox' article "can the truth survive the internet", and all of a sudden i realize that the instrumental music playing is the d*mn kingdom melodies.
it was actually pretty good.
it was that instrumental cd released sometime back with a lot of harp, piano, and woodwinds in it.

It's hard to shake the old behaviors, but it sure feels good when we do.

Dreams, dreams, dreams.
by cyd0099 inin the last two weeks i have had three dreams in which the dubs were featured.
in one i dressed up in a suit and revisited my old kingdom hall, all the while recording the reactions of everyone to my return with a palm sized camera.
i was swarmed and they all seemed glad to see me, but nobody noticed my camera.

Why Do We Come Onto These Boards???
by minimus insome of us are addicted or simply curious or have been referred to, to see what these boards are all about.
even when people say that they're done, they're never coming back, they reappear......what's wrong with us?

It's funny, I was long away from the Dubs but I felt unsure, without closure. I wasn't JW, I wasn't not JW, I was stuck, unable to progress in any aspect of life. Dragging remnants of the Truth™ behind me made me feel unworthy of love, I didn't date, I had no work I enjoyed.
I know now I wasn't alone while i sat in the Hall®, we were just afraid to find each other thanks to the conditioning of the Society™. This board has allowed me to close the door. -

The funny thing is i haven't been troubled by dubdreams for years. It's in the recent weeks that they have surfaced. I'm pretty damn sure i ain't going back.
Not giving up my redhead, my scotch, my meerschaum, my opinions, my tattoos, piercings, kilt, nor my movies, books, and music (no dub would have dared to be seen at the MC Chris show last year). -
