What is the WORST item of clothing you have ever worn/bought?

mine was a short-sleeved 'raver' t-shirt with a hood i wore when i was 13. it was a orange,green and yellow aztec pattern.

for a few months i thought i looked cool.

Come on, ya' got to tell more!!!! Inquiring minds need to know, do you still wear the purple boxers.....or is it briefs now??? I can only imagine the visual!!!

The worse thing I had to wear were these matching outfits mom made for us 4 girls. They were HIDEOUS!! I'd even say they were demonized!! The neck came up to my chin. They were a nasty purlpish/red-pinkish color. It didn't take long to spill something on mine and render it useless. Since I did all the laundry, the other outfits didn't make it through too many washings.

The other ugly thing was these orange platform shoes. I ca'nt believe I actually wore those things! The rest of the award would have to go to the suits my stepdad wore. Since he was a ministrial servant he tried to look "hip". But all of those awful polyester suits needed to be thrown in the fire with the other demonized items!!!

as a witness we were always admonished to apply hebrews 10:24,25 about meeting attendance.. according to witness tradition shouldn't that text read; .

"do not forsake the gathering of yourselves together - to incite to love guilt and fine works.".

What would you do ?

what would you do if you knew someone had no respect for you and only associates with you coz they have to????

for months i couldnt understand why this particular person said things to me and acted a certain way to me and it only just hit me this weekend that this person actually just doesnt respect me, doesnt respect my feelings, my thoughts nothing.

You are such a great person!! I know it hurts that they are treating you like this. But, this is their problem! Don't allow them any space to rent in your head!! My own opinion, keep your side of the street clean. As long as you know you've given your best to try and get along, don't worry about their side of the street. You are the bigger person here. But now it's your turn to set boundaries as to what you will put up with. Quit stressing out about them. It's their loss. Don't think you have to make them like you. You don't owe them any explanations or rationalizations. Why would you want to be around anyone that isn't good for you?? Show your pride, and be yourself--don't let anyone tell you are not the BEST! You are and deserve the best!!

I was the oldest and first one to leave the KH. I was allowed no contact with any of my siblings. Which was hard, cause I had raised them. But one by one, every couple years one would "wake up", move in with me. It's taken 15 years, but I found out last winter, my baby brother has left. I am SO grateful! Next month I get to send him his first "happy birthday". And both of our parents--still in the borg, and can't figure out why out of 5 kids, no one will have much to do with them. Let's not talk about being sexually molested for years! I did have the priviledge of crashing an elder's meeting. Without any warning, my stepdad and the elders got my sister to a meeting in the back room. They were trying to be sneaky, so I won't find out. They were in for a rude awakening. I went into the back room. (It was summer, I was alot skinnier--the shirt I wore was very, very sexy.) While they were drooling, I marched Kerry out of the meeting, then cut loose on the elders. I did it without raising my voice, but I made sure it cut like a knife. those were the days,............. shelley

Did it ever bother you that Watchtower never did charitible works?

i mean, for forty years believing the witness lie it always made me wonder.. judas was the keeper of the money box - and there are statements that indicated that the apostles thought that wasting money that could be used to aid the poor was sinful - so indications are that the earliest christians were doing charitible works.

of course there are many scriptural passages that encourage that activity among believers.

today all the organization ever does is pay lip service to charity.

It always bothered me because they didn't seem to help out the ones in the congragation, either. Even now, my mom goes to the Columbia, MO congregation. (hope you lurkers take note of the city!)Single, alone, and older. She lives in a run down trailer that has holes in it. Can't but groceries sometimes. My sisters and I try and help. But she'll hardly ever let us know. What happened to that scripture that they were to take care of their own? She refuses to ask for any help from the local congregation. Wish I could put a foot up someone's ass right about now, and get their attention.

what is the stupidest thing you have ever done, or heard someone else do?

i have a few, but my latest was sitting right here on the computer during a thunderstorm.

(last week) lightning struck, the speakers made a really loud noise, and the whole thing blew!!!!!!!!!!

The Watchtower's Latest Stupid Annoucement

disfellowshippings by announcing that 'so and so is no longer one of jehovah's witnesses'.. thereafter, friendships and real family ties with the individual are to be immediately severed.. what gets ignored in this eagerness to shun is what the apostle paul actually said about the.

matter.

When I was a kid, I didn't want to be a JW.

i'm thinking back to my childhood here, and remembering hanging out with my jw friends.

my buddies and i, when we were 9, 10 years old knew that we wouldn't stay jws.

we hated the restrictions that were put on us and hated being different.

I agree with Mrs Jones5, it made me feel like some kind of monster, freak. As I got older, I'd participate in the things we were told not to. I'd end up getting busted by another JW child.

looking back, i can see how the elders could "terrorize" different persons.

some people are shy by nature.

others were trained from their previous religions to be in subjection to the "shepherds".

When I first started getting routine requests to the back room I'd get nervous and my stomach would hurt. Later when I found out it was my parents usually turning in me in, boy did I get "BEYOND THE WRATH OF SHELLEY" I'd sit there and prentend to listen--had the typical teenager attitude. My favorite visit to the backroom is when they had my sis back there. She was staying with me at the time. When I found out what was going on, I barged into the KH, then the back room. Told her to get in the car, then I got to unleash on them.

My stepdad sent me the release 2 weeks ago from California. They also released a new tract "All suffering soon to end". It's the same "blah, blah, blah"................as before. This is the first time I've actully looked at literature since I've been out for the past 20 years. NOTHING has changed!

I agree with Mary, it's the same crap, different bookcover. Maybe those on the GB are getting forgetful--alzheimer's or dementia.I swear I read this same crap when I was a teenager in the JWs.
