being born and bred into the borg i always felt it was the "truth" but i wasn't the one who measured up i was not good enough to be a dub.

but i also had nagging questions that went unanswered by the most learned elders...or at least not answered to my satisfaction.

their "answers" were in fact not really answers but side-steps or attempts to mis-direct my question into an area they could answer.. an example...it always bothered me that we could not examine the contents of what opposers put out.

The Watchtower Society should welcome close scrutiny. If you are absolutely assured that you have the "Truth"...all the answers...then you should welcome all questions, because in being able to answer them all, the fact that you have the "Truth" would become crystal-clear to everyone. When you know you are right, it's only natural to shout, "Bring it on!" Isn't this what Jehovah did when Adam and Eve sinned? When Satan called into question the "rightness" of God's rule, didn't Jehovah essentially say, "Ok, let man rule himself. Let's see how well he does. You'll see that I'm right. Bring it on"?

Shunning my Husband

but today i am shunning him.

yesterday he went to a car show with a friend and drove home intoxicated.

I absolutely agree with Purps. You are the best thing your husband has going for him, and probably his best hope. If he is an alcoholic...and only HE can determine that...then there's nothing you can do to change it. Only he can. In fact, that's the first step of AA. Admitting that you are powerless. Only he can do that. Most alcoholics are in denial, and don't want to discuss it. Pick up some AA literature and leave it where he can find it. And join Alanon, as notperfectyet suggested. It's a great organization, where people really care about you. It's about empowerment. As the serenity prayer says, "change the things you can". And there's really only one thing in life that you cange change...you

Out of rehab

i was discharged today from the rehab center in the hospital.

there were 14 inpatients there and i was the least of their worries.

i would take 8-15 10/325 generic norco (think strong vicodin without too mcuh tylenol) a day and that's it.

Did you get it? What rehab is all about? it's about living your life, without hiding behind drugs or alcohol o0r anything else. Life is summed up in two words. Responsibility and integrity. Live those, be satisfied with those, and you are good to go. FEAR...face everything and recover

Platonic Friendships....

there are some conflicting views on this subject; when i was a teenage jw i was friends with someone of the opposite sex and we were the best of mates...nothing sexual, no attraction in that department at all but it was frowned upon by those in the congregation (as you can probably imagine).. my ex wife never believed a man and woman could be just platonic...hence no longer with her...but..now being somewhat older (and a teeny bit wiser .

what do you think though, do you think a man and woman can be just friends and more importantly has this view been changed since leaving the jw's?.
