After the first semester, most college students can care less about religion. I was at one of those things when i went through orientations. I dont know what i would have done if i saw a JW table...

The latest JW pick up line
by DevonMcBride inthis week, one of my adult students told me a jehovah's witness knocked on her door and said he was there to teach her about "travel and tourism.
" not realizing who or what he was, she listened further and he went on to say that god had a reason for natalie halloway's disappearance.
at that point she told the old geezer she wasn't interested and closed the door.. i told her she should have asked him to ask god how to get the lowest prices on airline tickets.

Are you saying that simply because i still preach? Or do witty, condescending comments make you feel better about yourself?
Cause seriously, that was not neccasary.
And despite your own views, witness men and witness women DO get hit on when they go door to door. My ex girlfriend used to get hit on all the time, even by old guys (which freaked her out).
But this isnt about witness being hit on, its about witnesses hitting on people while they're preaching. And i've yet to see that, but i've seen some brothers who were kinda flirtatious. -

In the middle of spiritual agnst, what do you do?
by ginger77 inplease, huge warning, if you're an angry ex-jw, save your bs advice, i dont' need to hear you put jw's down just to give advice.. i was raised a jw & am still bitter over injustice growing up at the hands of my elder father, and bitter over the abuse of my ex-husband.. i miss my fam, i miss peace, i miss a sense of belonging.
any advice on how to gain inner peace w/o selling myself out?.

Officially i'm still a witness in good standing. I dont know what you mean by "selling out" but if you dont want anything to do with the orgo, i suggest you find something else that fills that void in your life. Volunteering perhaps?

Call me an apologetic, but are you sure it was a witness? I mean no one can be THAT stupid can they? lol, i hope not. But there have been times when i thought the women at the doors were hitting on me or were just listening/accepting literature so they could see me again.

like every elder knew you were the "go-to" guy when something needed to be done.

I'll be the first in my congregation...if i survive college.
When i was in high school i would get so pissed off when i was encouraged to go to a trade school, it seems that everyone was a HVAC tech or an electrician. I remembered during my freshman year, this elder gave me an application to some "Steam Fitting" trade school.
I didnt say it but i was like "WTF" not only was he late because of the fact that i was ALREADY IN SCHOOL, he was late beacuse i already got accepted the year before. -

Howdy - Help needed
by jstalin init's great to finally be able to post here (there's been a problem over the last month with new registration).
i've been lurking for about two months because i have a friend who's a jw and i was interested in finding more out about his religion.
i started asking him things about it and he would get a bit cagy and wondered why i was asking.

Do you think "helping" your friend find the "real truth" is a very good thing? I myself woke up by myself. Hell i've had doubts since middle school, but I searched for them myself. I havent left yet, but i'm slowly getting there. but my point is, i think that When you give a witness information that goes contrary to every thing he/she believes in, they put up a defensive wall ( and you might lose a friend) I think its best to ask them open ended questions such as "Was it all worth it?" or "Are you really happy?"(In a more tactful context of course). I kind of felt the same way about my brother and tried all that, but he quickly turned me down and it turned into an intellectual tennis match. It was at this point that i realized that if he is really happy(or thinks he is), who are you or I to take away that happiness from them.

To me it is.
Can you really blame a witness teen(older person) for wanting to have sex? I cant. We all "slip" up sometimes.
And drugs, well i CAN blame them, but no one else is really being hurt except for yourself. (and your family i guess)
I just think Adultery is on another level because you're screwing up a relationship and if its prolonged you might have also passed something on to your husband/wife.
Just a thought.
