I consider myself a atheist but still:
Won't eat blood.
Won't salute a flag or anything like it. (well not too extreme in it)
Don't smoke sigarettes.
Still feel uneasy when I hear the name Jehovah
after reading and responding recently to a post about eating pork and clean and unclean meats, and also a few about newfound freedoms and pleasures that some enjoy now that they are out of the jws, i got to wondering if there is anything like that on the flip side of the coin.
in other words, despite you leaving the wts, is there anything you still believe that they taught, even though you left or were forced out, and no longer believe the rest of the jw doctrine?.
i was never a jw, but i was raised in a rather similar group called the worldwide church of god, many of the controls, strictures, and abuses that i saw as a child there, i see posted about here-though they are different, they are also the same.

i thought this would be kind of fun to do is list some of the offenses that i have committed according to witness beliefs.
i thought it might be mildly amusing considering the lack of emphasis that any of these things are wrong according to the majority of the population.
i'll limit myself to ten.
Do we have t confess our sins now here
Hmm..
1) being drunk together with an elder.
2) celebrating boeddist holydays, and making sacrefices to boeddha
3) lying about my field service report
4) having wrong kinds of sex (wrong according to WTS)
5) Gambling
6) making use of prostitutes
7) Apostacy of course
8) Trying to contact satan
9) Having more then one girlfriend sleeping over
10) lying to the elders about almost everything above
11) Smoking marihuana
Well that is basically it I think. Do I get df-ed now?
i know that you are new here, but have left yourself open to some comments.
i have been curious as to why you post.
do you have doubts?
Well I do not agree much with his reasoning but I have to give hime somethnig. He has more 'balls' then most JW's have. At least he is answering question asked to him.
Grissom,
there is just some things I do not understand. How can you combine the JW belive with science? Since for exaple it is proved (very solid proof) that the flood never happened. How can you go out in the service and tell people i did? I had a public talk not to long ago about this subject and that is not easy to lie to the congregation about the scientific evidence.
Another question, all teachings are based on 1914. 1914 is based on 607. But there is no evidence of 607. All evidence points to 583 if I remember corerctly. The reason given by the slave for 607 is that calculation back from 1914... That is like a circle. How to explain this point?
Thanks Danny
ip_sec did this once, but with all the newbs, i think it merits being done again.. so, how many of you are still active, meeting attending witnesses?
priviledges count for bonus points.. priviledge list:.
cleaning toilets: 2 points.
scored 38 points
Fairmind,It is absolute! Gravity just is. Gravity doesn't trvel anywhere or at any speed (like light does) it just exists and is acted uopon by the mass of each individual thing that exists in the universe. Sounds confusing but do a Google search on the speed of gravity and you'll find that many scientist support the idea that gravity just is.I did do a search, and indeed it is very interesting. Although there are a lot of different opinions on it. I have to rad more.
I was always tought that gravitons (the supose particle that carrier the information) traveled at the speed of light. Just as photons (the carrier also for the electromagnetic force) does.
If indeed the speed of gravity is faster the the speed of light, it has many implications.
Well, as far as I understand gravity does not violate the laws of relativity.
They did an experiment to messure the speed of gravity and it was within 20% of the spped of light.

If you want to kill it: kill it. But take your stand.
okay, so i do not believe in jesus.
yet i do wonder about life on other planets and see that as much more likely.
well there are species on this planet we have not yet found of insects, etc.
This is a fun topic.
I think the probability is that there are other inhabited planets. It is very difficult (read impossible) to give any estimation of the percentage of planets. It can't be do densely populated though, otherwise we would have more efidence.
That aliens ever visited the earth is very unlickely. In all millions of years there is not any proof.
Maybe the speed of light is absolute barrier and it is just impossible to travel any faster. Then all alien races can't spreat through space too far. E.g. it would be almost impossible to go to aother galaxy. Like andromeda, more then 2 miljoen years raveling, would not make sence.
well, i've been waiting for a long time to post this one.
it's my personal favorite.
some angels became inflamed with lust for human women and took on human form.
As a dub I had the view, (not the same as GB) that the flood was actually caused by god to annilate the offspring of the fallen angels and to prevent the 'heavenly' DNA for entering the human gene pool.
Funny if I think back on it...
this was one topic that used to make me furious!
here the bible makes it perfectly clear that back then they supported their own ministry by working.
there is also the scripture about "counting the cost" implying that one should not undertake any project without making an assessment as to whether or not they could do it.
About supporting the pioneer, I think a lot of dubs supports them in order to make up for the low number of hours they make themselves.
The JW's paid clergy class are:
1)- Pioneers (Special)2)- Missionaries
3)-Circuit Overseers
4)-District Overseers
5)-Bethelites (All working in branches throughout the world)
6)-Worldwide construction work personnel
Well paid, yes. But not to much. I would consider them more victims than the other way around. Maybe with the exception of CO and DO's. They get a lot of extra in every congregation they visit. The others are not having that much, they are been used as very cheap labour to make higher profits.
Man, and then to think I wanted to be a missionary or bethelite. I even did MTS. Terrible to think of it.

i posted a few comments from a "friend of a friend" attending the current gilead class a few week back here:.

here is the latest deep spiritual truth emanating from that most august institution.
As a dub this was one of the things that I liked about it.
I sounded so semi-scietific.
