Yeah a reform would be welcome if they change everything completely to the opposite.
Anything less won't do for me

The Jehovah's Witnesses Reformation Movement
by Kenneson ini made an interesting find last evening.
i stumbled across a site purporting to be a jehovah's witness reform movement.
while it sees value in jehovah's witnesses, its primary purpose is to reform the governing body.

Hibiscus,
About your post about the salinity of the oceans. I know this average figure you give. Can you give some proof that this is wrong. For example estimations of salt int he see, fresh water comming into the sea, salt exiting the sea etc, to back this up?
Also can you give more data about that magnetic change you talking about, and why that is not normal. Just only a statement does not really help.
If so I can see if it is proof indeed or not.

Cats a JW no-no?
by Confession ini stumbled across what appears to be a website maintained by a jw circuit overseer.
on it he includes what looks like a question from readers.
it has very strong things to say about the 'beastliness' of cats--and why christians should consider whether or not it is proper to have them in our homes.

I have seen this article before.
It was written as to show how the JW logic works. But it is totally fictional.
Its logic is equal to the logic about some topic in WT's and asleeps.Danny

The Governing Body's hidden agenda
by greendawn inthe gb have a manifest agenda that they present to the world regarding their intentions and policies.
however they also a have a hidden agenda which spells their real intentions and policies.
to mention an example they say that the jw kids should not attend university because it is pointless in view of the end soon, the risks of fleshly temptations and loss of eternal life, the god blessed pioneering work is a better way to spend their time etc.

Don't let them think.
Just keep the same stuff again and again, so that even for people who like to examine in the JW view are discouraged to do any reading, studying.

Questioning the Big Bang Theory
by Rod P inbut halton arp's continuing research will forever change the direction of astronomy.
or do our observations of nature show things that a theory says are impossible?
gamow had argued that the stars' temperatures are too low to create elements heavier than helium.

Rod,
No, not right now. There are many other areas we need to cover, but for now I think we need to put one set of problems to bed before introducing a whole bunch more. It's a bit like trying to juggle too many balls all at once.
I agree with that. There are a lot of comments I would like to make on the article of Lerner and Alt, but I will wait until we are ready with this first point about distances.
I am curious about one thing though. Have you spent a lot of time in the field studying the stars and studied astronomy and/or cosmology formally to any extent? You seem to be up on a lot of things here.
Cosmology was part of my study, and I did some research in the radio astronomy field. VLBI observations.
But I do notpretend to have all the answers also. Danny -

Evoluuuuution......
by gringojj ini am not looking to debate creation or evolution.
i just wanted to get some ideas from people on whats going to happen in the future.
my sister married a muslim, and they are strictly intelligent design creationists i believe, corect me if i am wrong.

This is an interesting question.
First let me say what I think aboutthe JW's in 50 years as they obviously will never accept evolution and other scientific evidence. There numbers will decrease but they wil still be there. In certain countries they will still have a lot of followers but in europe, america etc, there will be few of them.
Once people have made up their minds it is very hard to change. Only few can, most ignore all facts (for example the overwhelming evidence that there has never been a global flood). But to try to get new converts, will be hell, including children of jw's.I think the muslim religion is now where the christian religion was one hunderd years ago. Things will open up there too, however slow it may go. It will depend very much on the politics too. Countries like Turkey will view islam a lot different then Iran or Saudi in 50 years. (unless political changes happen)
The christian religion will become more and more a lifestyle and will grow towards humanism. It will be more like the way boeddism, in the way that it discribes how to live but does not describe any explanation about origin or destination.
Well that is just my opinion.

In which cities do you feel safe / not safe?
by DannyBloem inme and my lady friend were attacked in capetown by a guy with a knife.
i was frozen of fear, she kicked him very hard, but became little injured by the knife, he took of injuired also.
i did basically nothing, just stading there.
-
DannyBloem
Danny - sounds like you just froze. I think criminals count on that. Thank goodness for the good swift kick of your lady.
yes, I did.Jeff
Even though I think that what she did was kind of stupid. Just give the money would be more my option, it wasn't much anyway.
But he, she has balls. :) Maybe she was more used to it. As I was in a strange city, and she wasn't. -

Are You For or Against The Death Penalty?
by minimus inpersonally, i have nothing against executing wanton murderers.
-
DannyBloem
Why is it that people are pro? why want people the death penalty? Because it makes them 'feel good'?
It is strange that the same persons that are pro death penalty are sometimes anti on volutairy ending of a life by sick or old persons.
