Islam extremists..JW extremism!

i was watching a bbc programme on islamic extremists and their attitudes that brought back deja vu memories of jw attitudes to me last night.. for a fact i know, that jws do not condone in their teaching violence against others, but they do believe,as do the islamic extremists that those not believing in jehovah, (allah) will be slaughtered by god in due time.. what i found interesting was the attitude that they did not have to obey laws in the country they lived in that went against their belief system rules.

their religious laws came first not the law of the land, to which they owed no loyalty at all.. one extremist also informed us that since we in the uk had been 'warned' by the terrorist, bin laden that we must revolt and take arms against the uk government, the fact that we, the ordinary uk folk did not jump up and do as we had been told, meant that it was open season on the uk citizens for not following his warning.. extremists all come out with the complete belief also that they and only they themselves are the only true religion which every one else must follow or die.. if that in itself doesn't prove that the jws are an extremist cult, then i don't know what else does..

I think it is more apporpriate to compare JW with main stream islamic beliefs.

For a fact I know, that JWs do NOT condone in their teaching violence against others, but they do believe,as do the Islamic extremists that those not believing in Jehovah, (Allah) will be slaughtered by God in due time.

Mainstream islamic religion believes that, not only extremists. Extremists do not believe it, they believe that they themselves must do it.

What I found interesting was the attitude that they did not have to obey laws in the country they lived in that went against their belief system rules. Their religious laws came first not the law of the land, to which they owed NO loyalty at all.

Mianstream islam holds the laws of allah higher then the laws of a government. Like dubs. Extremists only have NO loyality at all and do not respect any law, or recognize the legal system of the country.

Extremists all come out with the complete belief also that THEY and ONLY THEY THEMSELVES are the only TRUE religion which every one else must follow or DIE.

This again is a mainstream muslim thoughts that they are the only ones who have the true religion. Same as JW. Only extremists take the follow or die more directly.

If that in itself doesn't prove that the JWs are an extremist cult, then I don't know what else does.

JW cult is extreme in some cases, in others more relaxed. In my opinion it would be better to compare them with mainstream islam. That is already dangerous enough.

Just a honest question: Why are you so obsessed by the JW's, as you are not a ex-jw?
Do I have to be an ex-jw to be interested in jw's? Its just my interest in religions k, I know stange but SORRY!

It is not strange, don't be angree, As I said it is just a honest question, what do you think is so interesting in the JW religion?
I was raised as a JW, so can't really figure out how people would think if they were not. Some things that are normal for us, must seem pretty bizare for the outsiders (and a little bizare for me now, when I can take a distance). It is maybe interesting to see how a group can use the methods of mind control so successfully.
or it can be the teachings, as some are maybe more logic then other religions. Just wondering..... Danny

i was recently out with a sister on the ministry; she was talking to some security guard.. she has been witnessing to him, on and off for a few weeks.. before she leaves, she gives him a question to "think about" and tells him "she'll be back next week" to give him the answer.. this security guard reads the bible at work.

the sister was talking about the resurrection hope.. she says, "did you know the bible promises that we can see our dead loved ones again?".

she finishes by saying, "next week, we'll discuss what god requires of us in order to realize that hope.".

I think we are a bit overreacting on this subject.

There is nothing special about telling some good sides first and showing a little beter picture then reality.

Every advertisement does it, we always do that. Consider when going on a date, do you not try to behave a bit better then average? Do you tell imediately all your bad qualities in all details?

What's your cell phone plan?

how much do you pay a month for your cell phone service and how long can you talk?.

i have a motorola 120c model phone, and with bell mobility, i pay 25$ canadian for a card that lasts up to 2 months or 30 cents per local call a minute or something like 70 cents a long distance call per minute.

so, if the card is good for 25$, and i make only local phone calls, i can use it 83 minutesand for long distance phone calls, at 70 cents a minute, i can talk only 35 minutes.. it's only for emergencies...

BIBLE prophecy? I have yet to have this EXPLAINED to me. As for the 'significant developments' , I believe they are claiming credit for prophesying WWI.

The funny thing is that WWI broke out a half year to early then. They like to connect 'the satan was trown out of heaven' to the start of the WW1, but according to them the war in heaven started in the fall, the WW1 broke out much earlier. They can not just abandon the 1914. They can change things gradualy maybe, but even that would be a big shock. Bigger then all the others. Everything stands or falls with 1914.

Similarly, the fact that the earth has not been used in harmony with its intended purpose does not mean that it did not have a Creator.

They forget to mention in this illustration that the man who designed the knife, had the power to stop the customer commiting a murder. he chooce that he did not care about that, He knew it in advance and still he sold the knife to the customer.
But the argument in itself is true, it does not prove that God does not exists, it proves that he does not care. (if he exists)

The Swedish man mentioned earlier was moved when he saw the suffering of fellow humans. Really, his tender concern for others confirms the existence of God. How so?
For most people, the only alternative to belief in God is belief in evolution. Evolutionists teach "survival of the fittest"—that humans and animals compete within their kinds for survival. The fittest live; the weakest die. That is the natural order of things, they say. But if it is "natural" for the weak to die in order to make room for the strong, how can we explain the fact that, like the Swedish man, some strong humans are moved at the sight of the suffering of their fellowman?-Awake!

Actually, they give a much to simple view on evolution here in order to ridicule it more easily. First of all there are two components in evolotion, the survival of the fittest, and the sexual selection.
Survival of the fiffest does not have to come from the person himself only. People and other some mammals give in groups to protect themselves and others. So protection of the group and especially family is important to the survival of a group (with related genes). So, some forms of concern for others are easily explained. Danny

Why do people feel they need religion in their life ???

after growing up a jw all my life, i have no clue why people would want to be part of any religion.. i don't get the mormon stuff.

i don't understand the catholic faith.

i really don't understand the muslim beliefs and all their levels and the suicide bombers.

Danny: I reckon one doesn't have to try establish if they do need it. If you look at humanity the sheer numbers of people in religion speak for themselves, that they FEEL the need too.
And I reckon what the thread is about is not a select few peoples' feelings, but on mankind in general.

I am speaking about mankind in general. I hink in this region where I am in, the majority feels they do not need religion.
I think it is much more elusive then religion that people need. It is something bigger, something that can be provided by religion, but that can also be provided by other means. It is maybe not more then a feeling of needed to belonging somewhere, a felling of a purpose and destination in life.
Why religion have so many numbers is because religion is the easiest form of this thing that humans need.

I think this is very much important to the discussion in this thread.
