but to be honest, I do not see much harm in what the society did here. Nothing is really changed on the blood issue. The only thing is that some witnesses have a easier time in bulgaria. (and that the preaching work is easier). So what?
on sundays, i hardly ever read my watchtower.
i would take 2 minutes to underline here and there just to look good.
if i wanted to make a comment at the watchtower study , i'd read 1 or 2 paragraphs and answer the question related to those paragraphs, that's it.

even give instruction talks and smaller talks mostly unprepared

never in m whole life studied a WT or KM. sometimes the BS

i've been "cruising" the boards for two months now, and there appears to be a lot of very knowledgeable and "cool" individuals here.. i recently embarked on a introductory bible-study with the jws in my area.
i know that probably isn't music to most of your ears, but rest assured that i'm not remotely sold on their theology.
nor am i blind to the past scandals and current issues of the wtbts--i've read about four different scholarly works about the society.. i was raised as a lutheran, and i've had a decent amount of bible-schooling in the lutheran denomination.. my questions to you, those who would know, are these:.

The 2 persons who give you the study, do of course not see it as a cult or high control organisation, and they give you study because they think it is in your best interest.
So they do not try to trick you or something deliberatrly. They are mostly honest and mean every word they say.
They will tell you probably that yi will get some oppsition from family and friends. (as noted above).
When you are doing well, they will ask you to join to them to the kingdom hall for the meetings.
Then if they really think that you know enough, like almost finished the book, and you join all the meetings they willl ask you to go into the field service (door to door). And then the baptism.
Most studies do not make it that far. Maybe 1 in every 100 or so.
what is good to do is ask questions and see how thety react.

so when i was in connecticut for three and a half months, my son in law had his computer mouse placed high up.
using it eventually caused my right fore arm, just above the elbow and right shoulder to become inflamed and painful.
i also developed some numbness and tingling in my hand and arm.

Be carefull with it. Especially when it start hurting when you not using the computer, like also in the night.
The most important thing is to prevent it. That is to have a good sitting position when being at the computer. There should be no stress on the shoulder, the elbow should be in a 90 degree angle (about) and shouls have support (then there is less pressure on the shoulder). Make sure you do not continue to be in a streesull position when using the internet for example, I mean that you do not have to keep pushing the mouse button or so, that is not good. The top of the screen should be at the same height of the eyes.
When this continues take the warnings of pain serious, and try to do somethings else for some time (weeks).

I am not so much afraid to lose family. I know they will not stop seeing me even my dad is an elder.
It will hurt them of course.
It takes some time to come out, try to fade. Do not know if I can make it, or will at some point in anger write a DA letter. But I do want to give some friend JW's firt enough information to make a good descision.

let me start with the questionable, unprovable, yet common premise that the gods in general were born out of human fear.. if we look for the closest match to our word "religion" in the hebrew bible, the best candidate, interestingly, will be "fear of (the) god(s)".
"service" to the gods will denote the religious practice, but the basic religious attitude is fear.
no matter how politically correct translations water it down into respect, reverence etc.
I think you make a nice point.
I only think that it was not fear alone, from which the Gods are born. It must have also been to try to explain the (at that time) unexplainable, which can be fearsome somwtimes, but which can also be positive.
But in general, I agree. I always thought of it as a strange destription "fear the true God"etc. And repeated so many time in the OT. In this light that really makes sense now...
