Where did God go??

it has been over 10 months now since i stopped going to the kingdom hall.

i had imagined how i would really find my way to god now that i was no longer being misled by the wts ( for - profit) publishing company.

i kept reading the bible, because people on jwd had told me how i would see it in a different light.

How big is your Ecological Footprint??...

since i have a little too much time up my sleave at present i thought id start a thread on a subject thats dear to my froggy heart.

for starters, here are a couple of links to on-line ecological footprint calculators that only take a couple of minutes to punch in basic data to get back a rough environmental impact assessment on how sustainable your lifestyle is.

sustainability requires decent and equitable living within the means of nature.

May I respectfully suggest reading what others are saying rather than formulating an immediate response.

My point was that I not only have eased back from using planetary resources but I also put back in the sense of regenerating wild space.

I am not from the States, so it is not a north/south thing. If you bothered to look, I am from n/nsw in Australia.

I am fully aware of green economics and that's what I practice. All I was saying is that the test had an agenda and was limited in its scope

Should people try to speak the language of the land when visiting?

as most of you know, i live in quebec (90% french) and i was at the convenience store a moment ago.. there was a lady from ontario in her 50's who stopped at the conveniece store to ask the clerc for directions in english.

the girl at the cash tried her best to speak english and give her the right directions.

then a client came in the convenience store and saw the lady talking in english.

I can only speak of my travels in Asia and I find at local people appreciate my attempts at custom rather than language.

When I was in Thailand years ago, I was in a village with no farangs (foreigners) and went to a restaurant where many local old men were eating and talking. I ordered (local) coffee.

When it was delivered, there was no jasmine tea which is supposed to be served and refilled free. The old men were watching.

I called the woman back and made sign language to get my tea. The old men gave me a nod and brief smiles, then they went back to their conversation.

Well I guess it's a little difficult to tell the longterm result as it's only been a week or two

but

If you agree with this practice, would you want to be forced to wear a sign and stand on a street corner with (e.g.) "I cheated on my tax and am a loser" or "I'm a vicious mean spirited bastard" with wife/husband sitting beside telling all of your behaviour?

The site is raising money, so all who do the test are being put to the torch so you feel guilty.

I live in a house made from mudbrick off the site. All the timber in the house came from clearing the site. Solar power, tank water, drive a 50 MPG car, do bush regeneration on weekends, veggie garden, meat once a week and I "use" 2 and a half planets.

The questions are too vague and simplistic.

Sounds like the wt articles.....

i don't remember... but may have asked this a long while back.

is anyone here interested in or have any strong opinions of castaneda's books on the teachings of don juan matus?

i've always been deeply drawn to these books, even as a young child (my father, not a jw, introduced me to them and that type of "thinking" at an early age; though i often felt guilty reading them and thinking about the existence of the world in that manner since my mother raised me as a jw.
