i decided to ask this on the back of "lost"'s thread about yhvh etc.. quite often on here we get bible believers trying to tie the whole mess that is the bible together, and maintaining that it tells us about just one "true" god.. who is this "true" god, and what is the proof that he is true ?.
was he the god of abraham and melchizedech ?.
the god of the ordinary jew before the babylonian exile ?.

That depends on your definition of 'pagan'. But if you're using to mean it's not authentic, then yes, it is of course 'pagan'.
It's just another Canaanite deity made up by primitive tribespeople who had no better explanation for the wind and the rain.

I always got a kick out of the old pic where the thug is pointing his weapon at the victoms face in a way that the thug would get a bullet to his head too!
From the picture, it looks like the victim would be more likely to survive than the gunman. If his jaw were opened far enough he could get away with damage to the soft tissues of the face, which would require control of bleeding and some facial reconstruction, but not as bad as the exitting bullet hitting the gunman in the front of the face. Morons.

why would jws get this advice when the result of any honest search would lead one to exactly where most of us here are?
i can think of two answers.. first, it's somewhat like being on a tour at a public attraction.
It's a bit like saying "prove that 2 + 2 = 5 for yourself" and only allowing the person to 'prove' it using textbooks that support the view that 2 + 2 = 5, along with some old dusty book that ambiguously suggests that different numbers can be added together to get other numbers (without indicating which numbers are literal or 'symbolic').

The method is that members are only permitted to 'prove' the 'truth' to themselves by means of (current) JW literature, with strong admonitions against relying on any other source of information.
The reason is so that members are far more likely to internalise their beliefs, so that when others challenge those beliefs it is taken personally. It's analagous to Stockholm Syndrome (where a kidnap victim begins to identify with their captors).
They know almost all of the rank and file will ignore the offer to check it all out.

to be fair, like or loathe, the pictures are a fair representation of the world conditions today.
Except it's not. The pictures are a representation of things that occasionally happen. It is not typical for a person to see tanks or bombers in most cities in the world. It is not typical for a person to be held at gun- or knife-point. The purpose of the images is to play on people's fears.
i know jehovah created all life through his son jesus, recenttly i have been reading about different races of et beings visiting our planet and claiming to be a form of us from the future, i,m just wondering can anyone tell me if there is any scriptural refrences to these beings..

That's just stupid. You're asserting as 'constant' the physical 'laws' as perceived by humans during a relatively brief period of time, and then asserting that without such 'laws', that inanimate processes might otherwise 'decide' to do 'something else'.
