It sure is funny (and quite pitiful) that there are people who believe that this unoriginal and nonsensical story is actually true. And the people who just accept that it’s all true with no evidence are generally the same people who expect ‘nonbelievers’ to explain complex scientific processes in detail in multiple fields. But they just make up trite excuses for primitive and obviously wrong folklore.

Who told the first lie?
by nicolaou inthis is a continuation of the discussion which sprang from an unrelated topic.. so according to genesis, who told the first lie?
god told eve that if she ate from the tree of knowledge she would die that very same day.
in response to that statement the devil told her she would not die.. eve ate from the tree and did not die.

hey, look! they put the "monster" logo in this time too!
Good grief. It’s just a reflection. 🤦♂️ If you imagine the two letter abbreviation of their denomination name is just so it can be used to represent this nonsense when reflected, you’ve instantly lost all credibility.

Disfellowshipping will no longer be a term used by jws.
Semantic nonsense. Congregation members haven’t been informed whether a person is ‘disfellowshipped’ or ‘disassociated’ for about 30 years anyway, or why. They just announce that the person is “no longer one of Jehovah’s witnesses”.
Will governments such as that of Norway actually be fooled by this weak chicanery?

The Watchtower, 1 May 2014, page 3:
Doomsday prophet Harold Camping and his disciples widely advertised that the earth would be destroyed in 2011. Needless to say, the world is still here.
The irony. 😂

When we were having this discussion months ago, an amended version of the manual came out, but it did not echo these changes.
The announcement that advised of the April 2024 revision directly stated that that revision does not include the recent changes to 'disfellowshipping', which would be included in a later revision (to be released in October).

Watchtower August leak: details from reddit user
by ukpimo infrom reddit.. a summary of changes: .
we are all sinners, so we have to be reasonable how we punish sinners.
if elders and congregation do not quickly help someone come to be reinstated they would be imitating satan the devil, not jehovah (yes that actually is what is said in the tagalog version in translation!

I wouldn't say that the 3 stated reasons for being more likely to get disfellowshipped is a deliberate distortion
Stop trotting out this lie. The ‘3 stated reasons’ are for more caution to reinstate. Not ‘reasons for disfellowshipping’.

no-zombie:
Personally, I find that new arrangement (if true) would have a number of practical problems.
Either, other disfellowshipping matters, like fornication and drug use are now NOT disfellowshipping offenses, or the each congregational member will have to be privately informed about a Brother or Sister's new status, should they be found guilty of being unrepentant.
Because if no one knew that you were disfellowshipped, you could just pretend everything was ok and associate normally. It’s not true. The conclusion that ‘only apostates, child abusers, or those scheming to end a marriage will be disfellowshipped’ is an erroneous misconception (or deliberate distortion).
However, there is ambiguity in the changed arrangement about greeting disfellowshipped individuals at meetings unless they’re ‘apostates’ because congregation members aren’t told the ‘reason’ for which a person was disfellowshipped.

Me, earlier:
Some aspects of these changes such as ‘no longer using the term disfellowshipping’ might appear significant
The machine-translated article that was made available actually says the term "outcast" will not be used anymore, and some reviewers have taken that as referring to the term "disfellowshipped" (and it was with those in mind that I said the above). However, it may actually indicate some other term, e.g. "expelled", that won't be used anymore. In any case, it makes no difference to the intentionally vague announcement that "[name] is no longer one of Jehovah's Witnesses".
The policy continues to employ emotional manipulation (actually more so) to retain members, and also continues the practice of shunning any who reject JW beliefs in favour of some other religion or no religion. I'm hopeful that governments such as that of Norway will see these paltry changes for the bait-and-switch that they are.
