I like that reply. Shows you're still interested in a friendship, you care about her and her family, and you don't attack her faith either.

She sounds sincere to me, but of course I don't know her... She's taking a risk even contacting you which could indicate the possibility she's willing to continue a friendship with you.
I would probably reply in a pleasant way and just avoid any JW comments at all. It's possible that MAYBE you may end up keeping a friendship if she's willing. I hate to lose friends if I don't really have to. I know many if not most JW's are ready and willing to write off those who leave, but there are a few that will continue to be good friends even if you do. I have at least one friend like that. -

Do Must Dubs Have Pre-Marital Sex?
by tall penguin init's not often talked about but in my experience a lot of witnesses have sex (or something like it) during their courtship.
and most of them never go to the elders about it.
recent case in point: my dear friend got married this past summer.

The first time I had sex was 2 days after I got married. I was 25. I always wondered before that if I'd "remain faithful" to what I believed. Well when a situation did arise, I did remain faithful. I was in a heavy "make out" session and it was going further than that and I stopped it.
Now that I'm divorced, sex is part of my current relationship. But that's because we're serious in our relationship. I still feel that sex would only be a part of a serious relationship to me, but I no longer feel I need to hold out until marriage.
That's just my opionion and guideline for ME. What others do I don't feel is any of my business. I don't judge others on their decisions and appreciate not being judged either. -

LOL!
I remember one woman who I think sincerely believed that Jesus came to Earth on a spaceship and at some point the ship was coming back to "take her home".
I had just as many strange encounters delivering pizzas, maybe more. Just going to people's homes gives you opportunity to see all the various strange ways people live. Always hoping for the beautiful girl (sometimes she's actually there!). We had one customer (for pizza) we called diaper man. He was about 400 pounds and wore nothing but a jock strap every single time we delivered, which was everyday. A large supreme pizza and a six pack of Pepsi. He apparently wanted to maintain his shape.
Guess where all the new delivery guys got sent? Yep. He didn't tip either.
Surprisingly to me, the most pleasant (everytime) customer I ever delivered to was the wife of a local TV station general manager (Mrs. C. E. "Pep" Cooney). Even had her name on her checks that way. -

SHOULD JWS STUDY THE SHARE OWNERSHIP OF COMPANIES?
by badboy in.
recently the coe has been embroiled in a row about the fact that one of its the companies it has invested in is partly owned by a company that makes arms.. should a true christian(tm) investigate a company background so he doesn't violate christian neutrality?.

I think a good JW who follows their teachings should definitely check into such things before getting involved. Seems clear to me from their "counsel" and also from the times (several) that I've been interrogated about my business dealings.
Had I known the types of things the WTBTS was involved in when I sat through those back room meetings, I'd have been really pissed. -

Marriage and Age
by pratt1 in.
would you marry someone more than 15 years older or younger than yourself?.
it seems to be somewhat common for men to marry women significantly younger than them selves, but when a woman marries a man much younger, it seems to generate a lot of attention.. what are your thoughts?

I'm 40 and dating a 24 year old. Seems that I'm the one that sometimes has issues with the age difference, doesn't seem that she does at all.
Any issues we have usually have much more to do with her being raised on a farm and me always living a mostly city life. That's caused more strain than age. -

One CO made me a MS. Another CO removed me as a MS.
I remember a CO in Indiana about 10 years ago that I got along very well with (Bro. Bender). He seemed to really understand people and was very helpful and kind to me. The elders and their wives couldn't stand him, but I had no idea why. After his time with our cong he stepped down as a CO and moved to Las Vegas. I really hope he's doing well now. -

My son will be 9 tomorrow and we celebrated his first b-day yesterday!
by findingmyway init was a surprise and he felt a little awkward -- especially when we sang the birthday song -- but he embraced it.
he was so excited to see that everyone came for him and brought gifts and he was very appreciative!
i am so happy that i did it!.

Happy Birthday to your son!
My daughter will be 13 in November and we're planning her first birthday party (13 year old style, I guess). I asked her to get a friend to help organize it with us as neither my daughter or myself have ever celebrated a birthday in our lives. We'd like it to be fun and I think outside assistance will be necessary for that to happen -

Husbands! Smack your wife across the mouth!
by PopeOfEruke ingreat advice received from a close jw relative who we visited last week.
she said that husbands are the head of the family, and if the wife doesn't support him in serving jehovah then he should give her a good smack across the mouth, thats what she deserves.
if only adam had given eve a good smack across the mouth when she proposed eating the fruit, we wouldn't be in the mess we are in now!

Abuse of any kind really makes me sick. I hated seeing all the kids that would get beat in the back of the hall or at the conventions. Just the mental attitude of many husbands really bothered me too. Even in casual conversation it was easy to realize how many of these men thought of their wives as possesions, not as partners.
I have a JW friend who jokes regularly using the phrase "bitch slap". Just hearing that pisses me off, it shows to me a view of women that I can't in the least bit understand.
I think in this country anyway (U.S.) so many still have this view of a man/woman relationship, both inside and outside the org. It's one thing that's really bothered me most of my life.
To hear a woman promoting it is sad.
