I've spent a month or so here and there in small towns and found it very depressing (to me). I much prefer city life, where I can go to the store in the middle of the night or shop for something and know that if one store doesn't have it, I only have to go a mile or so and another one will.
I can understand that some like small town life, I just don't think it's for me.

City person or Country person
by JH in.
i travelled alot recently and i passed through many major cities, and i saw the contrast between nice small quiet towns and huge cities with so much traffic.. so, where would you rather live, in a quiet small town where there isn't much to do,but where it's quiet and there is not much stress, or in a big city with lots of traffic jams, where life is more expensive, but where there is more to see?.
i like the smaller town life.

Jehovahs mother chose death before baby

jehovahs mother chose death before baby
a dying mother refused a life-saving blood transfusion despite nurses holding up her new-born son in a desperate attempt attempt to get her to change her mind.

I was thinking the same thing, Finally-Free.
He was right there supporting his wife to help her avoid living. I doubt the author assumed the sister-in-law would raise the baby, it must have been something that was said.
My father and his wife raised my brother's son. It really pissed me off that alot of people assumed it was MY son. No, if he was my son I'd be raising him, just like I'm raising my daughter and I'm a single father. I wouldn't have it any other way. -

I'm glad the doctor got his way in your case, jeanniebeanz.
When I was a JW I had pretty much decided that I couldn't see how they prohibit blood transfusions from the scriptures and if my daughter, my wife or I needed blood, we'd have it. My biggest concern was how to keep the damn elders out of the hospital and out of our business.
My daughter NEVER had one of those cards (can't remember what they're called), and I never carried a Medical Directive. -

I've never celebrated Christmas in my life, but I plan to this year. My daughter, who never has either, is pretty excited about it.
The biggest thing in my mind is where to put the tree. I live on a street that my family drive down all the time so I'm not yet decided whether to make it visible from the front of the house yet or not. -

My daughter came home yesterday from her month with her mother (she goes each summer for a month). I couldn't wait for her to get back!
If I do this correctly, there should be a picture of us below (we'll see):
Oh, I can't seem to get it to work, the picture is here if you're interested:

The wtbts - an appropriate place ?
by A Paduan inconsidering the manner of the "company men" in the org., would things be worse without it - generally that is, not individually.
without the fear and rules generated by literal understandings of the spiritual writings, would these same folk be simply out of control in the wider society ?
fundamentalism may well control and restrain people who would otherwise be running amock.

I'm someone who really has no idea how to interact socially. I avoid it and dread social situations.
Being a witness allowed me to interact with people that kind of had to interact with me. It allowed me to have some sort of social life, but it didn't teach me anything about how to grow socially. I feel that if I had not been a JW, I may have learned like most other people do as they grow up how to deal with people. So I think I'm worse off for it, not better off. -

"You need to reassure your partner that this isnt a replacement for them and that it is just part of a much needed healing process"
That's a good point.
My girlfriend spends alot of time on IRC (that's how we met) and she really doesn't talk about much on there, just chatting. She really doesn't understand what I get out of forums that are not just mindless chat. But she's young so I guess I was more that way at her age too (she's 24).
But I don't think she really minds, as long as I don't neglect her (I don't). -

Being separated from my family during "persecution". I was terrified of that.
Demons being in things like pictures and stuff that you might buy kinda scared me too, but the persecution stuff really scared me the most. -

Uh, Van Koller (never heard of him), Robert Priest (never heard of him) and Sting (yeah, I've heard of him).
Don't see how Robert Priest showed up, I see nooooooo resemblance. The other two, yeah, I can see it.
