Notice in the box on page 150: the book The Lore of Birthdays states: "other holidays lift the heart, (good I guess) but birthdays warm the ego (bad I guess)." Does that mean that the other hoidays that lift the heart like Walpurgis Night and Halloween are ok?

At that time Jesus was able to examine the group that was emerging from the falsities (is that a word) of their progenator "Pastor Russel" and moving onto their own and new light falsehoods. BUT apparently their falsehoods were not quite as false as the falsehoods of the rest of religions of the day. SOOO! he was thereby able to pick them as the best of the bunch that he was able to examine and declare them as the winners. Also remember that Jesus knew or foreknew that they would work towards enlightening with "New Light" better than the rest.
Well it couda happened that way.

The JW's will never completely axe the door-to-door work and justifiably so
by yadda yadda 2 inthe jw's will never completely stop the door-to-door work but they will eventually make it only optional.
in "in search of christian freedom", ray franz makes the excellent point that how we translate the greek kat' oikon that the watchtower society translates as 'house to house' depends entirely on the context, and there are other scriptures with the same greek work that are translated 'according to homes' or 'in homes', etc.
however, the greek preposition kata does have a 'distributive' sense and, unfortunately, ray franz did not adequately address this in his research.

yadda yadda 2 you said there needs to be a shift from the almost mandatory emphasis of the door-to-door style preaching. It is not almost mandatory, it is absolutely mandatory. I found out over a period of time as I tried desperately to obtain a loving, helping hand from the loving shepherdly arrangement of an organization which stands as the only true religion because of the love they show. It turned out that activety or non-activety is the touchstone above baptism or dedication as to whether the organization see you as one of Jehovah's Witnesses. I recieved that love directly from one of the loving, shepherdly elders in my congregation. I assume the use of love and loving will be seen as the hypocritical promise they are from the organization.
