  Resurection with no Soul

  it always puzzeled me how a person could be resurected it there were no soul.. if it is just a clone with your memories then it is not you - or is it.

  are we no more than our memories?.

  assuming as the jw's do that there is no soul or life essesnce that leaves the body and can be restored.

  Rugby: Lions or All Blacks?

  are there any brits [english, irish, welsh, or scotts = the lions ] on the site partial to the game of rugby?

  for those with no idea what rugby is - it's a little like american football, without the stops, without the protective gear, played in winter, in the rain, hail and sleet [well last saturday anyway].

  15 players to a side on the field at a time [unless someone is yellow cards or red carded].

  It looks like the Lions won't have to take Carter out after all....

  All Blacks star Daniel Carter will miss the third test against the Lions in Auckland on Saturday from a shoulder injury suffered in his starring role in the series-clinching win in Wellington.

  The All Blacks confirmed on Sunday that Carter had a bruised AC joint in his left shoulder and won't play at Eden Park.

  Second five-eighths Aaron Mauger has also been forced out of the third test with a hamstring injury.

  i discovered today that my company are paying newbies (trainees) considerably more than me,.

  i'm a bit miffed about it to be honest.

  i don't think i'm on a bad wage, but it doesn't seem right that.

  Go to an empolyment agency, and find out what the market is offering. Also check out your companies policy on 'pay for performance'.

  Then you have 3 options:

  [1] Get a new job with another company at the market rate.

  [2] Use the information to justify a pay rise [I did this and got $20K in one year] with your current employer, if he up's the salary great, if not go back to options [1].

  [3] Do nothing and let it affect your work - the worst option of all.

  I have had a great day - the Floyd, the whole Floyd, and for me it was nothing but the Floyd - perfect! I stayed up from 1am when Live 8 started screeening here in NZ, till noon today when it finshed. If only I had been able to find they were playing towards the end - I could have got some sleep.

  I have it on VHS and will be replaying it later.

  after you left the jws and entered your post wts era what sort of things did you learn about them that you found surprising?

  there are some recent jws that haven't even heard of russell or even rutherford let alone of their objectionable conduct especially that of rutherford.

  or they don't know anything about malawi and mexico, the ray franz incident and the witchhunt of the early 80's, or the organ transplant ban.

  Any state ruled by religion is a dangerous place. Diplomacy may seem like a good idea - but you are dealing with a society who collectivily think differently to those in the west - there is no religious freedom, or freedom of expression, or tollerance for sexuality, equality of womans rights, equality of races, individual rights. So the very concepts we value - the thing many of our ancestors have fought for and won - are nothing to their society in general. It seems to me in many ways their belieif systems are about where those of the west were 500 years or so ago.

  Sadly many of the individual rights have been seriously eroded in the USA as a direct result of action by people who share these beliefs. Does this mean they are winning?

  The scary thiing is that if the JW's were in power in a country would it be much different from the Islamic fundelmentalist?

  I worked on a couple of quickbuilds.

  The 1st was for my local congregation. I recall working on wiring the foundation steel for the central attrium when the concrete trucks started to arrive, as we hadn't finished this was poured last, and when they came to pour the steel wasn't wired in one corner.

  Well the brothers decided to pour anyway, then they run out of concrete, so put lumps of solid concret from the old hall foundations to expand the concrete. Any one like to guess which coner of the attrium started to crack no long after completion.

  So much for the "high level" of integrity the brothers are supposed to show.

  have any of you discussed the contradictions in the dub beliefs as regards the pagan roots of certain practices or beliefs?

  if so, with what success?

  i mean if we reject religious customs that had pagan roots outright, then why not with the 1914 doctrine?
