How do you feel about Tatoos?

i feel very offended and distrurbed when i see people covered with tatoos.

some people have tatoos all over their bodies, even on their faces.

there are also tatoo programs on the tlc channel that children can watch without a forewarning before the show comes on.

I am the owner of a few tattoos. I have a butterfly on my back with the japanese symbol for "older sister" just beneath it. My sister, brother (still JWs) and my youngest brother (never baptized) all have the corresponding tattoos - "younger sister," "older brother," & "younger brother"...So I guess we belong to a secret occult society being siblings with matching tattoos. (geeze!!)

I have a rose on my lower leg, and a band with my kids' names (all 6 of them) going around my ankle. Near the rose is my newest tattoo, one that to me represented my freedom from the ORG, a hummingbird. The artist did a beautiful job on it - I got it around May this year.

PS...I've heard this is true, too...

ONE WORK OF WARNING TO WOMEN.....If you are a young woman you may want to think carefully about tattoos over your kidney or lower back area. My wife works in the surgical unit of a large regional hospital and many Anesthesiologists (sp) will not perform an (epidural ? / Spinal) whichever...many won't use that location for anesthesia during surgery if there is a tattoo there...like for childbirth.

Retiring today!

today is my 60th birthday, so i am now officially retired!

actually, my last day at work was yesterday, and my colleagues gave me flowers, wine, chocolate and took me out to lunch.. this is the first birthday i've ever had as a non jehovahs witness, and it feels very strange to be even acknowledging it, let alone celebrating.

i am going out tomorrow evening with trev, linda and a few other fading or former jws for a curry at a local restaraunt, which i'm very much looking forward to.

I was sexually abused by two "brothers." One was an elder. The other was a father of a JW friend who had recently moved from Manitoba to British Columbia. They had relocated (from what I understood) because of a "complaint" at his workplace. He had been a teacher at a Manitoba school and when he moved to BC he wasn't teaching.anymore...he was doing pin striping on cars.

Also, my ex-sister-in-law has a baby with my ex-father-in-law. My father-in-law was an elder when my now ex husband and and I got married. This elder had a baby with his daughter and his wife one month apart! The product of the incest was 15 years old when we got married. Is she my kid's cousin or aunt, or sadly both???

Yes, the JW cover-up is TRUE! I'm NOT lying to you!

JW teenage pregnancies...............did you know of any ?

i was in the borg for 20 of my adult years and i must say that in all that time i only knew of one sister who got pregnant before she was married.

she was given a public reproof and was never treated badly.. considering a lot of the teenagers did most things they shouldnt have and many did get reproved for immorality, i am surprised that many didnt get pregnant.

especially as they would of likely not have been taking contraception.. was this common in you kh or area?.

Yes, I do. For one, my sister (10 years younger than me.) She was 18 when she had her baby (apparently conceived at a rave while on ecstacy and with another JW). She was df'd but reinstated.

Now she's NOT talking to ME!

She got married to a non-jw, had another baby, and as far as I know the JWs are still "studying" with her and her husband. She's faded.

I'm friends with her husband's (non JW) family. They have issues with her.

Help Me Understand Something-Education/Dating

rotflmao. Too funny...and TOO TRUE!!...and I was one of those single moms as a JW.

I'm now college educated.

I was on Prozac as a JW...and now I've been medication-free for years now...I now work in a doctor's office (for the last 5 years) and am doing FINE!!! Being a JW made me CRAZY!

My advice...don't date a JW!

Were you ever "all in"?

for those of us here who are xjw's for varying degrees (df's, ds'd or just faded away {the greatest feat of all}) looking back to your years as an active jw, were you ever 100% mentally?

i thought i was but looking back when i was a ms and being groomed for elder i was very zealous but still didn't like field service but loved helping out.

now i look back i see i was just looking for acceptance from other, not serving god.. i would elaborate but i plan on posting "my story" soon.. how about you?.

Raised in...and at at one point was "all in" (from about 6 to 16). I got baptized at 16 and from that day I was the road out....it just took me too long to actually get out...another 20 years.

it's pink and long and very fluffy.

it absorbed a lot of hyper energy, as i'm coming off a very stressful month at work.

DID ANYONE ELSE GET PASSED OVER W/THE KN TRACT?

i live in a small, rural town pop.

2000. my daughter and i did not get any visit or tract.. i thought this was supposed to be a final warning - a life saving work.. not complaining, but just curious if you didn't get one.. juni .

Well, guys, I received 2, just to make up for those of you who didn't get one.

Me too...well almost.

I had one folded up and stuck into my door at home with no knocking at the door.

The second happened on Friday. A JW came into my work and flashed the tract in my face and said "I'm here with an important message, can I leave this with you?" I looked her square in the eye and said "NO!!" She looked at me kind of shocked. "NO?" she asks. "Absolutely, NO!!" I say.

I had so much else I wanted to say to her about the facts of a true religion as presented in the tract, and how that means they are not a true religion by their own definition, but there were patients in the room at the time, and I thought it might be inappropriate. Darn, another missed opportunity.

What do you think about gays and abortion now.......................?????

when you saw the wt for what it was and realized it was not the truth, how did that affect your thoughts on subjects like homosexuality or abortion for example.. did you start to think differently suddenly or did it take a long time ?.................or maybe you havent changed your minds on what the wt condemns.. i was quite shocked at how i accepted my teenage son was sexually active and i talked to him about condoms and this being an important thing in his and gfs life and where they sure they were ready.

i didnt tell him not to do it !.

actually i think i always had my thoughts on different subjects that werent in line with the org, i just pushed what i really thought to the back of my mind.. there are many different subjects name one that you relate to.. .

Homosexuality....I'm ok totally with this. One of the people I grew up with (as a JW) is now gay. He lives in Vancouver, and we had a great reunion in Revelstoke where his sister lives earlier this year. We went to school together. We went to meetings together. Most of our growing up years were spent together.

When I look back, I know all the signs were there. It was evident he was "gay" since we were 5/6 years old. He was always very feminate, but that made him so very endearing to me. I don't think someone would choose that lifestyle unless that was who they were.

Abortion...I toil with this all the time. I think it's very wrong for birth control. Recently one of our patients (23 years old) aborted twins. Another has had 7 abortions in the 5 years I've worked at that office. This bothers me.

I was told it might be best to abort my son, as he was expected to die due to hydrops fatalis. When I was 4 months pregnant when he was diagnosed with a huge cyst on his neck called cystic hygroma . Due to my faith at the time, I opted to wait for him to die before I did a D&C. I now have a son, in no way dead, a sweet child, with an IQ of 69. I don't regret my descision, but I sometimes question it. I would have a hard time accepting my descision if he had been more disabled than he is. But if I'd aborted him, I'd have missed out on an awesome kid.
