Who Will Be Celebrating Thanksgiving & XMas This Year???

funny thing about jws----many celebrate thanksgiving but say they're only eating turkey with all the fixings by coincidence.

god made the food to be consumed everyday.

then you get witnesses who celebrate christmas the day before or after with all sorts of presents but they won't give it on the 25th because that day is pagan.

My family is!

Being in Canada, we've already had Thanksgiving...and it was great! Mmmmm so good. Had 2 turkey dinners. One I did for our family, and the other was at my fiance's co-worker's home and they had deep-fried turkey...sooo tasty!

Christmas is next and for once I'm a little prepared. I've even got most of my gifts bought and already wrapped.

On the 25th of November, we're having a family day. We're going to go up the mountain (I live 15 minutes from a ski hill) and cut down a tree. Last year we did it for the first time and we had such a great time, hot chocolate, tobagganning, snowball fights, roasting marshmallows, cooking smokies over a fire. The tree was horrible, but we had so much fun getting it, it didn't matter.

I'm lovin' every moment of the holidays.

However, I think Halloween is still my favourite.

Adulterers are Worse than Pedophiles

....at least according to jehovahs witnesses.. if a sister at the kingdom hall suspect her hubby is playing naughty with another woman and she finds her hubbys car has been parked at anothers womans house all night, then she can write a letter stating she is sure that adultry has taken pace and divorce him, and he is then disfellowshipped, and she still remains in good standing..............but,.

if a child tells their parents and the brothers at the kingdom hall that they were molested sexually by a brother at the hall, and this accused brother denies this accusation and there is no other witnesses to this claim, then he is veiwed as not guilty and remains in good standing.. why do you suppose the accused adulterer is treated differently.....even if he denies that he commited adultry?.

While they might have a tiny bit of sympathy for the children who are victims of pedophilia, their main concern is the reputation of the Organization. If they have to chose between sacrificing children and the WTB&TS, guess who wins?

What sympathy??? There was NO sympathy in my case.

It was like...go back into the pasture you crazy sheep. Even though we know it's true---you must have made the whole thing up. Your sanity is being sacrificed for the sake of the WTB&TS!!!

Is a Dead Bunny Funny?

just had a buddy up to the ranch.this is his story:.....a friend of mine saw his dog with a dead animal in his mouth covered in dirt..it was a dead bunny..not any dead bunny..this was the nieghbours family pet bunny..my friend was shocked and didn`t know what to do.he knew the nieghbours would get very upset that his dog had killed their pet bunny..the nieghbours weren`t home right now,so he came up with a plan..he cleaned the dirt off of the dead bunny and put it back in it`s pen and hurried home..a little while later,the nieghbours came home..a few days later my friend and his nieghbour had a chat..the nieghbour was angry and upset..the nieghbour said:"last week our family pet bunny died.the kids were upset and cried.so me and the mrs thought we`d have a funeral for the bunny with the kids and give it a nice burial..well,a few days ago,some sick bastard dug the bunny out of the grave and put it in it`s pen."..lol!

But, I think I heard that story before, too.

Rose (who's anxiously awaiting the death my 19-year-old daughter's geriatric dwarf angora bunny...good god, we've had the thing for 10 years now, and it was supposedly 2 when we got it...he's so scrawny now...how long do they live? I know...I should just Google it!)

when i was four, i believed that my life could be painfully and tortuously taken from me, in a ball of flame, crashing down from the heavens, just while i sitting down to a bowl of oatmeal in the morning.. when i was nine, i believed that my life, as i then knew it, would be drastically altered, that i would be tortured for being a jw, and after suffering for who knows how long, i would die (because i still hadn't lived up to jehovah's expectations).. when i was 13, i wanted to be a nuclear physicist-because it sounded cool, but in the meantime i believed that i would die in armageddon because i wanted to go to college, get really educated, and have a great, "worldly" life.. when i was 15, i felt guilty that i hoped armageddon would never come, because i so desperately wanted to go to college.. when i was 17, i was offered an honors early admissions in a prestigious program in a highly regarded engineering program.

my mother flat out said, "no!".

when i was 18, i scuttled semi-secretly to the local university, part-time, trying to hide my daily activities without actually lying to anyone.. when i was 19 i quit pretending and disassociated.

this time i thought for sure they wouldn't publish this one...but i believe our local paper, the stevens point journal is a very liberal, progressive little newspaper.

the elders ignored my last letter...i wonder if they can ignore this one???

Matthew 24:12 and "The Love of the Greater Number"

i may be confused but as a practising dub in the 1970's i was sure that i was taught that matthew 24:12 referred to people losing interest in god and religion in general.

looking at contemporary wts literature they cite it as a prophecy of ever increasing lawlesness prior to armageddon.. this bible quote seems very different between the nwt - "because of the increasing of lawlessness the love of the greater number will cool off.

" and my good news english version - "such will be the spread of evil that many people's love will grow cold.

I may have been wrong, but this is what I understood it to mean:

I always thought it meant that many would leave the "truth" ...either as the Great Trib was approaching or during it....due to pressures and influences of this terrible system of things.

and it too stuck in my head after I left...it still does sometimes.

How do you feel about Tatoos?

i feel very offended and distrurbed when i see people covered with tatoos.

some people have tatoos all over their bodies, even on their faces.

there are also tatoo programs on the tlc channel that children can watch without a forewarning before the show comes on.

I am so tired...........

it is midnight and i have just got out of bed......................no sleep for me tonight ...........again.

i am so tired.

i suffer from insomnia like a lot of posters here but when i do sleep, a couple of times a week at worse or once every couple of months i have night terrors.. *these only started when i found out the truth about the org, so i can only conclude its stress.

Why does Anderson Cooper being gay or not gay have anything to do with your sleep? I'm confused.

It really doesn't .... I'm sorry...I just LOVED watching him when I was up all night is all. I just loved him.

m on my own tonight and im really scared to go to bed, last night I slept with the light on, thats not working tonight, I am so tired and unfortunately this brings on a night terror, so i dont want to go to sleep
D oes anyone else suffer with this...............it really is getting worse...............more frequent and more intense

OMG...I suffer from this too. My fiance can't figure it out. One night I'll sleep just fine, the next I'm up for hours on end, and if I do sleep it's filled with terrifying dreams.

I sleep with the tv on when he's not home. I know ABC's World News Now real well. I loved Anderson Cooper before he left for CNN and let it be known he was gay.

I've done many awake nights. I'm slowly improving (without insomnia drugs - except Benedryl).

But sometimes, the dreams and the sleep paralysis become really terrifying!!!

The Memorial...

does anyone still go to the memorial?

i was just thinking that although i made it quite clear to my wife that i was not going to go to anymore meetings or conventions (i made a comment about not wanting to be there when the kool-aid came out) that i caught myself thinking the other day that i might go to the memorial just to keep her happy.

but then i thought why?

The last meeting I went to was the memorial 2 years ago. When I walked out the door, I just knew it was my last one. It was a strange feeling, uncomfortable, but liberating somehow. It was if something snapped in my head. I knew my days as a JW were done.

It was then that I started researching the "apostate" information, and thanks to so many of you who post I've learned so much. Thank you.
